Buyer beware. Very poor service from the beginning of the claim in February. Customer service representatives are poorly trained and if they dont know an answer will just lie. At one point I was told by a supervisor " I dont know what to tell you", while people yelled and cussed in the background. I am waiting on a reimbursement check for a replaced hot water heater and have been told three different stories concerning when it was mailed. Only to find out it was never mailed. Buyer beware. A good home warranty is great, but you wont find that with First American.

The sub-contractor who cut the holes in the sheetrock did not repair the damage. The sub-contractor assigned to fix the holes failed to accept the home warranty's request. I tried several times to contact someone about the problem, spoke with Kavon who assured me the matter would be handled. I made four calls to the case handler named Candace Arroyo and sent three to four emails. Candace never responded in any form. Kavon had given me his manager's extension so I tried calling that party. I called the manager at extension 5273 four times and left messages four times. His accent was too difficult and he spoke too fast for me to ever really get his name. The manager and Candace both had messages regarding the fact that they would return calls within 24 hours. It is to laugh! Neither EVER responded at all. I finally looked up the sales representative for the area and sent an email but got an auto-responder, which I DIDN'T read. My bad! I could have had this resolved sooner if I'd read the auto-responder. Finally, after nearly two months of trying I did receive help from Christine Harris. Christine Harris cut through everything and actually HELPED! I learned later Kelley DeGeorge the sales rep had contacted Christine Harris about my, now rude behavior (read the auto responder next time, sigh). Kelley De George (yes she dodged me the first time but I didn't read her auto message so it's a draw) returned my call the very same day and with Christine Harris's help gave approval to have the sheetrock repaired. Not only did Christine Harris completely handle the situation, she credited me the service fee. Yes, I am now a big fan!! I can't say for sure if this thing is over but I can say for sure that Kelley De George and Christine Harris are wonderful, patient and kind people even to one rather rude policyholder. A big round of applause for both Kelley De George and Christine Harris. They single-handedly saved the reputation of First American Home Warranty.

perAt this time, I have the authorization to contract out the sheetrock repairs. First American is always quick and adamant about not paying for painting. What a shame they are not as quick or even close to adamant about actually fixing the damage done by their first contract workman.
Description of Work: Contacted for warranty service for leaking upstairs shower. Plumber sent by First American cut holes in sheetrock on first floor to fix the leak. Unable to obtain help from First American Home Warranty to repair the first workman's damage to sheetrock. Five to six phone calls, four to five emails, none of these methods Ever received a response. It took me 90 days and many, many hours on both the phone and email to finally reach a supervisor and so far, I have only authorization to have the work done.

They lied, don't bother to call back, refuse coverage for items that are supposed to be covered. The home had black mold in it when we bought it due to a leak in the bathroom. We didn't know about the leak until about a month after we moved in. When having to get others to fix the problem, it was found that the owner had put 3 layers of floor over it to cover it up, along with several layers of wallpaper. But the house is supposed to be fine when we take possession, which it wasn't. They told me that if they send someone out, we have to pay the service fee, but IF they find black mold, they are instructed to leave immediately, even though they've collected our service fee. What a rip off. No one would do anything about it, and therefore it cost me thousands.
Description of Work: Refused to cover two items that supposed to be coverage for. Lied about coverage for an item, saying the repair person would not fix it.

Refuse to cover the washing machine when they had told me 10 days prior that it was covered. I acquired this policy by purchasing a home. It is the worst policy I've ever had. They told me my washer/dryer were covered, and when I called in for a claim on the washer, 10 days later, now it's not covered? This is total bull. That is out and out a lie. All they wanted to do was argue with me on the phone. They told me I could add it, for an additonal $70 but now there has to be proof that the washing machine is working. Their solution, call the agent who sold the policy (real estate agent), yeah they will take care of that right away. I left a message for them, but haven't heard back. This is ridiculous. Will definitely be reporting this to my attorney.
Description of Work: On 8/4, I found out they weren't covering the refrigerator (why, because they are cheap), so I had to pay an additional $50 for coverage. I asked what other things were covered. They ran thru a list of things, and I had made notes that the roof was limited warranty, but the washer and dryer were covered.

The company contacted GE which sent out a repairman. He said the part needed was no longer available for the clothes dryer. He contacted American Home Warranty and they replaced the clothes dryer about five days later
Description of Work: The company provides insurance for home appliances. When our clothes dryer went out, I made an Internet request for service.

It is an economical to get things repaired in my house. I don't have to worry about what it is going to cost because the service will only cost me $60 or $65. I even have a rental that I use them with.
