Response from Perfect Edge Painting
I don't know where to start with my response for this member's comments. First, I could not have completed the work on April 5, 2015 as stated, because I did not visit his house until April 28th. I provided a quote on April 29, 2015. Second, I did not start the work, I did not complete the work, and I never scheduled the work. Third, my quote was not for $1,100 as stated ... it was for $791. This was not a simple staining of a couple of doors. The 2 doors are 8 foot doors with excessive tutor hardware to work around, and the member wanted the interior and exterior of the doors re-stained and coated with two coats of polyurethane. The exterior of the doors were peeling badly. I explained to the member that if he wanted the job done correctly, the doors would need to be sanded on both sides, and the exterior of the doors would need to be stripped of the old stain and polyurethane before the stain would match the interior again. Since we would be dealing with stain and oil based polyurethane, it would take a day for each coat to dry. Which means the job would entail 3 to 4 visits to complete the job. The member did call and leave messages ... all of the messages were to the effect that my price is too high, and he wanted to negotiate the price. I had already discounted my price 10 percent, because the member belongs to Angie's List. (NOTE: My agreement with Angie's List only requires me to discount members on exterior jobs greater than $2,000 in total amount billed.) I provide all Angie's List members 10 percent no matter what the job's total dollar amount. I provide total quality work, and I believe one will see that if they read other members' reviews. But, I refuse to be blackmailed into lowering my quotes just because someone is an Angie's List member.
