The phone service is okay, with little problem noted. The "high speed" internet service is often very slow and the wireless router needs to be reset much of the time.

From day one the service was bad. Poor quality signal and service calls were a joke. Didn't care about the customer's needs. Came home from church on a Sunday and had a door knocker notice on garage door stating we live too far away from the signal source. That's after having the service for two years. They chose to drop us as a customer rather than fix the problems. There are several of their customers that live past us that are much further away from the signal source and they are afraid to call for service. Their Internet might get shut off too.

When we arrived home our internet wasn't working. Several phone calls to tech support ended with a visit where the tech just basically swapped out the modem for a new one. The phone, however, was a different story. We tried to call it when we were on our way home (we had set up the reactivation for a day or 2 prior to our arrival back at home.) Our cell phone gave us two different messages-either the call could not be completed as dialed, or the number was out of service. Our next door neighbor was able to call the number from her home phone and get through, but none of our family or friends who live in other states were able to get through. More calls to tech support. We were able to make outgoing calls but nothing could come in. Eventually they fixed something and we could get calls but only from local landline phones. After the service call, my husband filled out a customer satisfaction survey and was quite detailed in his responses. I received a call from the tech supervisor who tried to call us on his personal cell phone and could not get through. But he was able to figure out what the problem was and correct it. We are now able to receive calls from both landline and cell phones. Of course it took almost 3 weeks for the problem to be resolved. Since our daughters live out of state and only have cell phones, we were not happy with the situation. We have had problems with Windstream every year. The internet speeds are ridiculous. We pay for the 6Mb/s speed and frequently bring to their office printouts of speed tests showing connection speeds in the kilobyte range. We get the same response each time - they are going to fix a switch (we've heard that one for 5 years) or they are installing new lines and haven't gotten to us yet (another long term excuse.) If there were any other option for internet service, other that satellite, I would switch in a heartbeat. But we are stuck with the only game in town.
Description of Work: Supposed to turn on our land line phone and internet service. We had been customers but discontinued service while we were away from home for 7 months.

When I first purchased Windstream's service, i quickly discovered that the speed they promised me was not obtainable at my location. Windstream had to decrease my service from 3Mbs to 1.5Mbs to retain a proper connection. Later this was increased by to 3Mbs without issue until the start of Summer when we ran into constant disconnecting issues again. Customer Service is solid, but they are limited as to what they can do as Windstream does not appear to want to invest in their infrastructure in the Somerset area.
Description of Work: Windstream is an ISP serving rural areas in Somerset Kentucky. The cost of service is per month. Windstream provides me with 3Mbs DSL Internet Connection.

I have since switched to Comcast that is providing me with 10x more speed plus cable tv for my location for $30 less a month.
Description of Work: Called in do to poor connectivity and frequently dropped connections. Made 3 calls in a week, each time was told its an equipment issue in the area that it should be resolved soon. After 4 calls I demanded to speak to someone in regards to my bill. I advised them I was running a business and that the lack of connectivity was hurting my business. I was paying for a business line that was giving me less than dial up speeds and would drop connection 10 to 20 times a day. Provider advised that they don't over credits because they were competitively priced with other local providers. I advised them that I would be going to another provider .

For about $60/month, I get unlimited US phone service AND unlimited WiFi for my home. although the wireless service is spotty & sometimes slow, I live in a very rural area & for the price, it is well worth it.

I pay 70 dollars for 12 mbps and only get 6 i have tried to work with them and they said thats all they will guaranteed.
Description of Work: This is the worst internet service provider i have ever had. I am in the communications industry and i travele all over and they are by far the worst. And very very expensive and the speed is very slow.

After six weeks of phone calls to Customer Service, a new line laid by the Technician has finally been buried...it was in the yard, and he told me that he had put an order in, on his laptop, to have the line buried. It took at least fifteen calls to Customer Service to get this done. I found out the day after the line was run that is was right on top of the septic field, and that the entire back yard was to be dug up. I called Windstream about this, and was told that they could do an ariel drop...I found out a month later, after numerous calls to Customer Services, that I would have to pay for the ariel drop. Since I could not pay for this (it's their line, I think they should be required to put it wherever it requires to be, at their cost) the line would need to be buried outside of the area to be dug up. The line was not long enough, so it would need to be re-run or spliced. Since nobody would give me any information, I had to be sure someone would be home all day, every day in case the Contractor came out...the line could not be buried where the Tech had put it (in the yard), or it would be cut and the entire process would need to be done all over again. I tried and tried to get information to Windstream explaining all of this and was repeatedly assured that everything was fine with an ariel drop, until a month later, when a Rep told me that there would be a charge to me for this. I was also told that they did not see various orders that were supposedly made by their employees, to take care of this line in my yard. I even demanded to speak with a SUPERVISOR at one point. She assured me that she would check on the situation and call me back...two weeks went by...no phone call. There were at least fifteen calls to Windstream...and many hours spent on this. An example is that one time I was transferred NINE times in one call...that means that nine times, I had to give my name, address, phone number and Social. I was always transferred at least four or five tims per call...they sent me back and forth to the same departments, over and over again. They really need to be fined for this deplorable service. I spoke with the Contractor when he was here, and found out that Windstream Customer Service Reps were not telling me truthful information most of the time and that he was out because Windstream had called him the prior afternoon and told him to come out to my house asap...not because of any order that Windstream had made. He said that Windstream just got tired of me calling and being upset with them. Yes! After all of this, I was not very nice when I called. This is the worst customer service that I have ever encountered in 47 years, and I wish there was a way that Windstream could be held accountable for the way that they take advantage of their customers here in London, KY. Windstream and Time Warner are the "only tickets in town" for these services, so people do not have much of a choice but to put up with this trash. DISH is also here (this is why I went through Windstream) but you must go through Windstream to get it. DISH is wonderful...it's just too bad that they are handled through such a deplorable company as Windstream Communications.

How'd it go? Not very well. We moved from London,Ky to Busy,Ky 2 months ago and needed internet and land line phone service so that my wife could continue her college courses on line. We signed up with Windstream 3 Mbps download DSL and it worked for a few days. Suddenly out of nowhere the phone line had noise on it and our internet service came and went constantly. My wife struggled to continue her classes online it was aggravating. Most of the time we were at dial up speeds or less. We made several calls to Windstream for repair and the three times that the technician was out here claimed nothing was wrong with our phone line and assured us the problem was fixed. It however was not fixed and at this point we have informed Windstream we would not be paying for services because we feel the company was giving us the run around. Now i am not paranoid or crazy but it sure seems odd that my neighbors tell me they do not have problems with their Windstream DSL and yet we have had to complain over the phone and by email constantly with no good outcome. Our neighbor is 100 feet away and yet my phone line which must stay clear of any noise in order for DSL to work properly has not only static on the line but busy signals, people talking in the background that can be heard by myself and the person i am trying to talk to over the phone. Finally i will close with this, we did receive an email from Windstream admitting they did not plan for future customers so in a nutshell , they do not have enough bandwidth to cover future new customers. My suggestion to new customers is this, avoid Windstream at all costs. I am surprised that i am able to write this review.

I hate their automated system because it takes forever and a day to get someone on the line. They were able to resolve my issue but it took about 3 days. I think the price is a little high but we don't have a lot of choices out here. They give you a 4 hour window that they will be out and you have to be available. They won't give you a specific time.
Description of Work: Our home phone, internet, and Dish TV all run through Windstream Communications.

I am paying for service that I am not getting, and I don't like it, but there is nothing that I can do about it. It is the way they have it in their contract. They told me that it might be next year until we get some better internet service out here. Our internet service is down more than it is up. The phone service they keep going a little better. They tell you that we can get 1.5 for the internet, and we are below even the lowest one that they have. They are advertising that you can get 3.0 and we are getting lower than the 1.5. So I feel cheated. If you ask about the internet they get an F, and a D on the phone service! They are pros at beating around the bush, they can avoid the questions like a politician! They send the people out to fix it, but the equipment is so bad that they can't do anything with it. If I had a choice I would not use them again, the only reason I am using them now is because they are the only ones we have here.
