When we had moved into our house we had unfortunately inherited a poorly built sunroom. It was originally a deck and someone had built a sunroom on top of it. We knew we needed to replace it pretty early on but it was challenging to find someone with the chops to do the work effectively. It seemed like we needed too many skills in a single person and there were a lot of contractors that seemed like they thought it was too big of a project for us to afford and just quit talking to us! Rick & Sue came along and were exactly who we needed. They had a rich history in construction and offered a comfortable experience for an affordable price. They worked with us on designing the deck and gave us options to feature each idea that we had. We're generally reluctant to share budgets early on but we decided to put our trust in Rick & Sue and they respected that by delivering a suite of designs that went right up to the budget. We even could pick and choose our favorite parts among them! We now have a beautiful deck that our neighbors love to visit. In fact, we can hardly bring ourselves to go back inside! They built for us a deck system that included a two level deck and a massive roofed section that's perfect for sitting and reading in the rain and the cedar beams are beautiful and allowed for easy set up of a projector screen that let us have an immersive outdoor movie theater during the evening and discretely pack it up into the beam during the day. Rick & Sue are my favorite contractors that I've worked with so far and I look forward to having them work on our house again!

Rick and Sue have done multiple projects on our home. We have been so impressed by their professionalism and knowledge. They provide top notch work at a fair price with quality materials. We will continue to use their services in the future for any home projects that arise. Other home improvement companies that we have hired do not even compare to the service and commitment we have received from them! We are so thankful that we found RA Building and Design!

We had a very unique project involving a large deck and an enclosed pavilion. We also chose to start our project square in the middle of a Covid pandemic! Despite the unexpected obstacles that could not have been predicted we felt that RA Building and Design did an excellent job. We knew from the beginning that the level of communication would be the key to our success and without hesitation they did a tremendous job.

Rick and Sue Anderson are amazing. We got a great new back porch and a great new back door for a fair price. The workmanship is great.

When we first met with this company to get a quote for having a deck built on the back of our house, we looked at their portfolio and said to ourselves, there was no way we were going to be able to afford a deck based on the beautiful pictures of their previous work. When we received their proposal and design we were more than thrilled. The design was beautiful and their quote was less than other companies. The Andersons were also using far better materials and had a better design. We had to wait a while for them to start but at risk of sounding cliche, "It was worth the wait!" Our deck and pergola are better than we could have even imagined! It is magnificent! The crew and company were very professional and easy to work with everyday. They kept us updated with any delays that happened i.e like bad weather when they could not work, whether or not they would be starting late that day or if something needed to be changed because our house was not cooperating with their plan (we had rotten wood that could not be seen until after siding was removed from the house). We love our deck and could not be happier with our choice to use RA Building & Design. We can't say enough good praises about their professionalism, design and product quality. They are very easy to work with and the results are beyond compare to other companies!

The experience from start to finish was excellent. I can't say enough wonderful things about them. The only complaint would be the weather!, which no one can control. Rick is very knowledgeable, does quality work and uses quality materials. Sue is organized and a friendly, good communicator. She keeps you updated on where they're at in the project, what you owe, changes addressed immediately and all questions answered...even if you ask the same question more than once. Their crew are talented and hard-working...no small talk. From day 1 you could tell they knew what they were doing. I highly recommend this company and will use them again!! Sue and Rick listened to our ideas and implemented a design to fit. From the very first meeting, we felt we found the right match for the job and they certainly did not disappoint. Professional, dedicated, hard working, focused, engaged are some of the character traits that come to mind that best describes their work and effort. The build *team* was prompt, professional, courteous and hard-working. They stayed focused on task and cleaned up each day. They put in an honest days work each day and knew the work. The end product was certainly worth the added wait and delays due to rainy days and weeks. The proof is in the details and we look forward to using RA Building and Design in the future. Everyone is amazed at the finished work product and we love our new rebuilt and designed deck.

Rick and Sue were great to work with. They kept us informed to time tables and any issues. Their work crew was great. The craftsmanship is excellent. The builders were friendly and very respectful and polite. They kept the yard clean and made sure the gates were closed so I didn't have to worry about my dogs after they left for the day. I will definitely be calling them for my neck project.

Excellent Experience, Hoping to Partner Again on Additional Projects Have you ever felt truly blessed to work with someone? How about a group? This is the first time I have felt this way in working with Sue, Rick, and the crew that just finished our deck. A Building and Design were excellent from first meeting and design through execution of a deck that we have been saving for several years to have built! The result? Nothing short of amazing. Sue and Rick developed a plan based on what we wanted to accomplish. One thing that impressed me the most was their willingness to review the initial design and allowing us to collaborate and co-create the final product. They helped us feel like a part of the team! The result was an amazing deck that completely changes the look and feel of our home while also adding tremendous value. We went from a builders-grade deck that was so small, you could barely get a chair and a small table on it. The old deck also blocked the view of our back yard. Compare that to the much larger deck that fits the home and that allows us to enjoy spending time outside. The design also enables us to have an entirely new space to use below the deck that is clear and open, providing a clear view of the large back yard. We are already in the process of scoping out several other projects with RA Design. We are so excited about the collaboration and making our home a place we can truly appreciate. Finally, as other reviews state, you WILL have to wait because of the demand for their services along with the quality of the work. Do not fret because you WILL be amazed at the results and you will be blessed by working with people who are incredible people and master builders.

Did an excellent job. Pleased with the work. Since they are so good there was a waiting list, but it was worth it.

They are very professional. Crew showed up on time. Cleaned up their mess on a daily basis. I will be hiring them again for another project. I would recommend them. If able to, I would give them a 10 star rating score! Have also already recommended them to someone as well.

03/15/2019 I contacted RA regarding the poor quality of their work on a fence installation.As per normal, Sue was full of excuses and explanations as to why the damage resulting from their poor quality of work and materials was not their fault or their responsibility. What are they good at? Cashing checks we as customers give them for their work. What are they horrible at? Everything else related to their business. Upgrade: 03/14/2019 upgrade: Rick and his team installed a fence surrounding our backyard 4.5 years ago. Per the contract, the footers for each post were to be below finish grade. During a recent wind event a large section of the fence blew over. Upon inspection, the footers were or less below grade. Their work was very shoddy and they do not deserve to be hired. 03/14/2019 Upgrade: We hired RA design to build a new deck just over 4 years ago. Rick did a good job scoping the project and completing on time. However, he and his team failed to install a quick disconnect electrical box as contracted for our hot tub. He said that having the breaker at the box was sufficient. However, after some time we had to have our hot tub serviced. That contractor would not work on the unit because there was not a quick disconnect box at the spa location, as required per code. We did not know this for over 3 years. The result, each time we used the hot tub we were at great risk for a deadly electrical shock Upon contact Rick he reviewed the job and sure enough said, wow, we did that correctly He did agree to pay the cost of installing the correct electrical quick disconnect. However, being a certified electrician he should have known this from the start. There but by divine grace was someone not injured or worse due to electrical shock.

Sue and Rick are unbelievable people. They are kind and caring and honestly want you to be happy with the final product. We have been in communication with RA Building & Design for nearly 2 years before finally having saved enough to move forward with the build. Never did they pressure us to sign anything and were completely understanding of our situation (relocation followed shortly by a pregnancy) and knew money was a concern. They worked with us to build an amazing deck we were happy with and fit in our budget. They even suggested a baby gate for the steps, something we hadn't initially considered. I would absolutely, 100% recommend RA Building & Design to every single person who asks who built our amazing deck!

RA Building and Design is the most professional, communicative, friendly, talented construction company I've ever hired. They were there early every morning. The foreman and workers were all extremely polite, dropping everything to shake hands and greet us when we checked up on the progress. Sue, who manages the company, kept great communication throughout the process. Rick, the designer and head workman, is incredibly talented and detailed. You won't regret hiring them!

Very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. Deck/ screened in porch was a difficult construction project, high off the ground and mounted on a hill. They pulled it off at a very reasonable price. Structurally, the project was excellent. Some of the outside screened in porch trim materials were poor quality, but are easily replaceable. Overall the value and structure was excellent and I expect the deck/screened in porch to last for a long time. I will definitely use again, but make sure you specify any desired/ external trim materials or you might get disjointed/mismatched fencing pieces on the outside of your porch trim.

RA BUILDING and DESIGN, or Rick and Sue as I’ve come to think of them, did a great job designing and building my pool deck, back deck, pergola and installing a new patio door from my walkout basement. They removed a window and replaced the siding and even repainted the interior walls where the door was replaced. They made my vision of my space a reality. They arrived when they said they would, and kept me informed about what to expect. They were very gracious about some of my ‘last minute’ changes. I trusted them completely around my home and have absolutely no reservations in recommending them to anyone for their home projects. RA Building and Design tore down our existing decks and rebuilt a combined deck for our home. From the beginning, they were a pleasure to work with. The quality of the deck outstanding. The owners are always available to talk and gave us a thorough explanation of what the job would entail. We even wanted a redesign of our stairs after the job had started and that was not a problem. We are already looking at future jobs around our home and RA Building and Design will be our first call.

This company completed a new deck for our home. They did fantastic work. I had never had a crew work at our home that worked so hard and took pride in what work. We plan to use this company again when work is needed at our home.

Everyone at RA Building & Design were extremely professional, knowledgeable, and patient with us from start to finish of our deck replace & build. We were so impressed and pleased with their service on our deck project, we're now going to be working with them on our master bath remodel. They are a pleasure to work with and offer the highest quality of work.

The project was a total remodel of the house. This included new floors, painting, handicap tub, new pantry, a new deck and numerous other side projects. These folks are a real blessing to deal with. They are so very nice, they answer questions quickly and their workmanship is superb. If you want it done correctly these are the folks to hire, they will go the extra mile to ensure you are a happy customer and one that will recommend them to others. I have hired a lot of contractors in my time, but none as great to deal with as these folks. I have already started a second large project with them as I was so impressed with them the first time around. I would highly recommend them for any size project you have. This was our first "big" project in which we hired professionals. The deck on our home was poorly built, nails were popping out, and we did not feel safe using it or the stairs. While I was initially nervous about using a company we found online, the first time we met Rick and Sue, it was like sitting down with friends we had known for years! We quickly learned they are outstanding people and we were confident they would do outstanding work. They closely listened to what we needed and wanted in a new deck. They returned with a beautifully designed (huge) deck that not only met our needs, but also our wants and more. The deck was built and the work site was kept neat and tidy, which was appreciated by our HOA. They were concerned for our young children and made sure every nail and screw was collected at the end of each day. Our custom deck was not a traditional rectangle "box" deck, but has an appealing look and details we never would have imagined on our own. All of our neighbors and friends have complimented the design and character of our deck. Not only is it designed well, but the construction is solid and safe. The materials used were of high quality (ground contact treated lumber) and will last years to come. My wife and are very picky and we have zero complaints or issues. Rick is a perfectionist and regularly made adjustments and corrections that were not even noticeable to us (and we were closely looking!). I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with RA Building & Design. Not only would we, without reservation, recommend them to family and friends, we will personally use them again and again. A trustworthy and honest couple who works hard to please their clients, does perfectionist work, designed a solid deck that was beautiful and exceeded every expectation. We could not ask for more!
