We called them in the spring and left a message requesting to call us back about opening our custom 27 x 51 lagoon pool. They didn't even bother to call back. Assuming that the fail to call back was a fluke we contacted them on 9/8/2015 to get a quote on closing the pool. They requested photos, we sent them. They called back asking about the cover, we gave them what was asked. They promised to call back on the 10th. They didn't call back as agreed. We called back today (9/14/2015) and they said they didn't have time for us due to sixty calls for closing pools. Very unprofessional and aggravating to deal with.
Description of Work: Called to get a quote.

They are excellent. I am very pleased with them. The service is of very good value. They keep an eye on things and make sure my pool works. I don’t live there all the time and so I count on them not just to provide service but to also let me know if something needs to be done and they are very good about that. So, if the water level is low or something like that, they are very good about providing all extra service in that area. I don’t have much comparison and it is the first pool I have ever had but it seems like a reasonable price to me.
Description of Work: We used Rojos Pool Service. They have been servicing my pool, opening it in the spring and closing it in the fall for the past three years.

Approximately a year ago, we hired Rojos Pool Service to maintain our pool. Our first dealing with them was to install a Solar Pool Cover. On the day it was installed, their employees arrived at our home and began working without notifying us they were there and would be working....they had been here 20 minutes before we saw them out the kitchen window. When confronted, their immediate response was and quot;We can leave if you likeand quot;. We wish we had said get out right then and there, it would have saved a ton of stress over the next year. It took two weeks to convince them we did not want them coming on the property without announcing themselves. Someone is home here all the time. The Solar Pool Cover was cut too large for the pool and we were told it was standard to do this as the cover would eventually shrink. Well, plastic being plastic, when it gets hot it expands...the shrinkage was minimal to non-existent. It will need to be re-cut to fit the pool. Next was a visit to install a Mesh Saftey cover for the winter. No real complaints here as the arguments were at a minimum by now, however any time we asked a question we were given the distinct impression we were bothering them and their answers were curt and uninformative. Our pool is odd shaped and the manufacturer needed more than one set of measurements to make the cover fit correctly, installation was very nicely done. Next on the list was to install the Heat Pump as outlined above. This was the final straw. Overall Rojos Pool Service is not used to performing work when people are home, this is their own admission, and therefore are never questioned. We question and expect an honest professional response. Rarely did we receive this with Rojos. During the installation of the Heat Pump, we questioned the replacement EcoSmarte Chamber and were told the one they were and quot;givingand quot; us (ostensibly to reduce cost) would work fine and keep the pool clean. Nope, it turns out the EcoSmarte Regional Salesman had installed the replacement chamber on someone else's pool and he had removed the Copper Electrodes at the customer request and replaced them with Steel Washers. Plus with the chamber being wired incorrectly even the Titanium Electrodes were ineffective. The cost to correct this is unconscionable. Rojos Pool Service will not return to perform any work for our pool
Description of Work: They were hired to install a Heat Pump for our pool and the estimate was for roughly $6000.00 for all equipment and labor which involved the Heat Pump, new concrete pad, new filter material, replumbing the water lines and re-incorporation of the existing EcoSmarte Pool Sanitizing system. EcoSmarte is Copper based and uses a Chamber that contains Copper and Titanium Elecrtodes for algae and bacteria/virus control. These electrodes use electricity to instill copper ions to the water to control algae and titanium ions for bacteria and virus control. The work on the concrete pad was adequate, except we had to replace a section of fencing, and due to the fact the post was placed incorrectly the fencing no longer fit correctly. The work on the filter material replacement was less than adequate; the valve at the top of the filter and waste water line now leak when backwashed (told by Rojos that we didn't want to think about repairing the leak as it wasn't bad and the cost would be high). The replumbing of the water lines resulted in complete inadequacy. The EcoSmarte Electrode Chamber was originally a 2” chamber with 2” Copper and Titanium Electrodes with Quick Disconnect connections (the chamber requires maintenance by removing the chamber and soaking in acid to keep the electrodes clean). This was replaced with a 1 ½” chamber, jerry-rigged with no Copper Electrodes (it contains steel washers) and rubber connections between the water lines and chamber (clamps hold this tight for the moment), and the entire chamber was wired incorrectly, in effect rendering it totally useless for sanitation purposes. During the time this work was being done, we constantly questioned them about the EcoSmarte System, after checking with the Manufacturer, because we were convinced that it was being installed incorrectly. We were told Rojos knew what they were doing, and given the distinct impression that they did not like us questioning their work and especially didn't like us checking with the manufacturer. Rojos personnel has badmouthed the EcoSmarte system from the beginning and confessed they knew little about it, yet would not bother to learn about it. After the work was completed we have battled algae and dumped a large amount of money into the pool to keep it clean and sanitary because the EcoSmarte system was not working. It was wired incorrectly, too small for our pool, did not contain Copper Electrodes and I question that it even contains Titanium. Cost to correct this will run upwards of $1000.00; $779 for a complete new proper chamber and labor costs for correcting the plumbing. In short we feel we have been lied to, cheated and stolen from and that Rojos Pools displays incompetence and lack of regard for Manufacturer's guidelines and instructions.

FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE CALL! I love that consumers have the opportunity to review companies online. It enables business owners to fine tune their product and customer service. With that said, I implore ones reading reports to keep in mind that just as they don’t know the company that they are investigating, neither do they know the person writing the review. There are so many half truths and untruths here that it would be take to long to cover them all. I will name only a few and then encourage you to call if you would like to make an informed decision. 1) Member states that all work was adequate or less than adequate. Reply: After every aspect of the job the member was asked how everything looked. His reply was great and we were paid on every job that was done. 2) Member states that the wrong cell chamber was used on his pool and unsure if the copper and titanium plates were even in the chamber. Note: (Chamber is clear so it is easy to see if the plates need to be cleaned). Cost to replace would be between $799-$1000. Reply: Member was given the option to replace cell and chamber for $799 but thought it was too expensive and chose not to do it. We gave him the option of a used chamber & he opted to do it. The size of the chamber would easily work with the size of the pool and bather load. A problem would occur if chemistry was not kept in balance. This was the case when member gave me the results of his water test. I expressed how important the ph and calcium are to the EcoSmarte system and told him how to adjust. Asked member if he wanted us to come and check the pool but he didn’t want us to. By the way, the chamber was “FREE”. SInce no expense was incurred the member could still opt for the new replacement but he never called for that option. 3) Member states that we were bothered by questions. Reply: We did roughly 4 jobs for member from Sept,2011-Oct,2011 then from Feb,2012-Apr,2012. During this time over 50 questions were asked via email, phone, and text and every question was answered expeditiously and thoroughly. 4) Member states that the filter started leaking after it was installed on the new pad in 2012. Reply: In Sept,2011 member was made aware of tiny drip on the multiport valve and given the option to replace. Member chose not to replace. After the filter was moved in 2012 the leak was obviously still there. The leak amounted to roughly 1 gallon a day and since member didn’t want to replace multiport valve the recommendation was to wait until it got worse and then replace. These are just a few points. Again I appreciate reviews as they allow us to improve as a company. There is nothing we can do to correct a perceived problem if not given a chance. This report was posted 4 months after the work was completed.

I received a price from Rojo to replaster our pool in early June. We selected Rojo and paid a premium to use them because they could start in 2-3 weeks. We had a party planned on July 18 and had to have the pool completed before then. Rojo cashed my check for one half the work on June 11. Two weeks later I started calling Rojo and leaving messages inquiring as to when they would start. I was ignored for 2 weeks and I was on the verge of hiring another contractor and getting an attorney to get my money back from Rojo when they called and said the work was subcontracted to another company and I needed to contact them. Eventually the work was performed but not complete until July 22 after we canceled our party. We didn't even have the pool filled with water before Rojo was calling wanting to be paid. They didn't even send a bill. When they sent a bill they charged me $1,100 extra. I had agreed to $600 as they had me over a barrel but they can't tell me what the extra $500 is for.
Description of Work: They replastered our 16 year old pool.

Thank you for your comments. We always strive to improve our customer service and promise that we will integrate steps to to do so. Job timeline:June 6th - Approved to add to schedule for plaster, gave deposit. Told Eric(house manager) and the member our subcontractor wanted to meet with him to discuss the details of the job and he would contact him when he was available to schedule a time to meet. Told him approximately 4 weeks but stressed this work was weather dependent and rain could push the job back. June 15th - Received call from the member saying no one has called him. Left him a message saying contractor would contact him Monday 18th to schedule time to meet. June 21st - Left message for the member stating there would be an additional charge of $600. This was after contractor and the member and Eric met to discuss job. This was due to his workers setting the tile in a way that contractor told Eric(house manager) not to. Because of the way the tile was set, contractor would have to jackhammer underneath in order to do the plaster. Told him if this was a problem to let us know. July 7th - Received email from the member stating he has a party on July 18th and the work had to be done before then (this was the first time we were made aware of the party) - We replied stating because of the extreme temperatures (100+) the plaster would set up too quickly and could not be done in that type of heat. Called Eric(house manager) to let him know of problems with plastering in those extreme temperatures. July 9th - Contractor arrived to begin work and could not access the pool - the driveway was being redone. Was told by workers it would be finished at the end of the week. Called Eric and offered to return deposit due to not being able to meet the member's timeframe. Received call from Eric stating to continue with progress of work. July 16th-Work commenced July 22nd-Pool filling July 23rd-Touch up and grout tile(not part of job estimate) to match plaster. Again I appreciate your comments and will always strive to improve. I am glad that you, the member, were pleased with the work, as stated to contractor.

We bought a house with a pool and have never taken care of a pool before. We hired Rojo's to help us with a couple of weeks of regular maintenance to get us on track with caring for it ourselves. They were prompt and professional and very willing to talk to us about what they were doing so we could learn to take care of it on our own. We also hired them to do our closing for the winter. They were easy to schedule with, showed up on time, and again were very helpful and friendly about describing the process so I can learn more about it. I will use them again if I need help in the future.

They were very professional and knowledgeable. The gentleman that came out explained to us that a heat pump is a better option that heater to heat our pool. He said we needed more work to install the heat pump than we thought we needed. He recommended changing the pool filter fan. I will use them again in the future.
