Tim and his team at Mengel did a great job for us replacing a door and nine windows in our house. As with our previous experience with Mengel, Tim and his team were responsive, prompt, courteous, and kept us updated about our order and installation. They were flexible around our schedule for installation and communicated early when weather made a short delay necessary. The installation was much faster than expected- all completed in a few hours. And the team was clean, courteous, and professional. The finished product was everything we expected and more- the windows and door looked great, and functioned perfectly. We've already noticed a significant change in our house's temperature and air flow, and there's much less noise coming in from outside. We had one small issue with a window that required some follow up, but Tim addressed it immediately, and without question or fuss. In short, we can't recommend Tim and the Mengel team highly enough. This is our second experience with them and we've been so pleased with the windows and door, installation, and level of communication. It's rare to find a company that does everything really well, the first time, without hassle. But Mengel has done that and made the process easy and enjoyable (yes- legitimately enjoyable)! I've used Mengel Exteriors twice now, once for replacement windows in my first house, and most recently to replace a sliding patio door. Both times the job was completed beautifully and the whole crew did an outstanding job. They were prompt, professional, and communicative throughout the whole process. Would absolutely recommend Mengel Exteriors. Great local company!

First guy looked at what I needed. Second guys came to measure. Six weeks later very unprofessional guys came to install door - I live in the sticks but if I had not expected them I would have called the sheriff on them - that's how unprofessional they looked. Door did not fit so they used a hammer to force it into place. I e-mailed the first guy with concerns and he came and looked at the installation. Next two more installers came, looked a little more presentable but not much. Removed the door and did some carpentry work and put the door in where it worked ok. Still had a few issues with the installation and the owner of Mengle E.xt. and a man from Allied materials looked at it, took a picture of a problem, added some caulk and left. Guy from Allied materials left a message that said that all the doors from Provia look the same. Still have issues with the quality of the door but I am tired of dealing with Mengle Exteriors. As a side note I have over 25 years in the maintenance department at the Lou. Zoo, the last 15 as the head of the department so I have some idea of what I am talking about.

Took longer than expected to get started (door was delayed). Once work began, it was completed quickly. Very satisfied with the quality of the windows and door and with the quality of the installation. Crew was professional and courteous. Did a great job cleaning up after installation. Salesman Robert was very helpful and responsive to inquiries. He followed up once the job was complete. Very happy with the overall experience. Highly recommend and would definitely hire again. I can’t say enough great things about Mengel Exteriors. Rob was wonderful to work with and James and his team were fantastic. Trustworthy, professional, knowledgeable, and reasonable. I highly recommend them.

Was optimistic that we had made a good choice, but it was not managed well. The final product was fine, although the sliding doors are a lot harder to open than their predecessors. But the real issue was measuring. The first time they came to install, all three windows were the wrong size and the 2 sliders were the wrong style. 0 for 5. None of the five items were right. It did get fixed after 5-6 more weeks, but was not a positive experience. Will not use them for other projects.

they came out and gave me a bid and explained all my options. The owner was very professional. Everything was straight forward. They called to make appointments and was very punctional. The installers were also very professional . They did a great job.

They were organized, thorough, professional and were prompt when we had questions that needed to be addressed.

We had Mengel replace our 80 year old windows and could not be happier. Every person we worked with, from Tim and Elaine all the way to the entire installation crew, was professional and courteous.

The crew did an excellent job, All debris was removed when they finished. Work done looks very good. Trim work was well matched to the house. After the job was finished the rep came by the next day and inspected each window personally. All conditions and warranty info was clearly explained.

The installation was very fast and efficient, and the installers were great! The windows are beautiful both inside and out, and they are easy to maintain and operate. I couldn't be happier!

We experiences excellent service. What was supposed to be a 48 hour job turned into a longer job but that was due to an architectural oversight. The company was up front and professional in their responsiveness. They had to reorder windows, which I am sure was costly, but explained everything. That is the best test of a company. When something went awry they were honest and up front about their objective. We have lifetime warranty on windows that will also follow next owner.

From the initial conversation to measuring to installation, there was not a better team to do the job. It was a local company which gets windows made specifically for their customers. These are high quality triple pane windows which have greatly reduced outside noise and enhance the UV protection within the house. The installation was amazing and a site to see. A crew of four arrived to replace 10 windows and 3.5 hours after they arrived, all windows were complete and installed leaving no mess in the house or outside the house. If you have the means to make an investment in your house, I would go with this company and team which makes your their number one priority. So call them and tell them I sent you! :)

They exceeded our expectations!

Unfortunately I did not complete the installation. Two days after signing the contract I found I have a water leak that was going to be costly. I had to cancel the window contract. Once I have recouped my water leak costs, I do plan to replace the windows and hope to have Mengel Exteriors do the job.

The installation team was top-drawer. We received a confirmation call from the crew chief two days before, and the team arrived precisely at the time promised. The crew chief explained exactly what would happen, and how much time he expected it to take. The team worked assembly-line style, with one removing the old window, the next installing the new windows, a third wrapping the exteriors with PVC-coated aluminum flashing, and a fourth doing finish caulk and cleanup. The installation was completed in exactly the time promised, and the crew left the site completely clean. The quality of these windows is outstanding. We particularly like the fact that we were able to match our white trim in the interior, and the taupe trim on the exterior. It was remarkable how much quieter our house became once the windows were installed. We live about a mlle from the interstate, and typically could hear traffic through our old windows. Now we hear almost nothing from the outside, even when our neighbor is mowing his yard! We love the ability to move the screen either to the bottom or the top so we can open the window either way. Very helpful when there is a rainstorm and we want to open the windows from the top.. The only complaint (if you can call it that) is that these windows are so tight that it is difficult sometimes to get the window latch engaged. Perhaps this will improve with time as the mechanism breaks in a bit. We were extremely pleased with the sales process, and installation process and after-sale support. We would definitely consider using Mengel for future projects.

Replacing a housefull of windows (35) is not an inexpensive decision, it is an investment in your home. We replaced the back windows of our home in November, we used another company for this, but we knew after this bitterly cold winter we would also need to replace the front ones as well. Since I was less than thrilled with the followup and problem resolution from the other company we decided not to use them for the front windows and instead chose another company. From the initial contact with the Mengel representative, to the follow up, the process could not have been better. I was given a thorough explanation of the windows, warranty and installation process by the sales representative. The installers were timely and replaced all of my windows in one afternoon. They cleaned up after themselves and caused very little disruption to the household. The installers were also friendly and knowledgable as well as quick to repsond to any questions I had. The windows were a good price for the quality, triple paned etc.. My new windows keep out a significant amount of the outside noise (barking dogs etc) and bright light from sun, we use very few blinds in the downstairs commmon areas. I'm very pleased with our decision to use Mengel and would happily recommend them to anyone.

We had Mengel Exteriors come out and give us an estimate on replacement windows for the top two stories of our house (excluding the garage). Their Vice President of Sales and Marketing came out and demonstrated the windows they recommended. These are triple pane double hung vinyl windows with built in screens and cross pieces. A week after we agreed to the total cost, one of their people came out and took exact measurements. Once the windows were ordered, they estimated they would take about 6 weeks to arrive. Once they arrived and the weather broke (this was during the February-March 2014 time frame when the weather in Louisville was snowy, icy, and very cold), they set up an appointment to do the install. Every step of the way we were told what to expect, in writing, to prepare the inside areas around the existing windows for the actual install. Two workman came out when promised and did all the inside work and actually installed all 20 windows and did inside caulking on the first day of the install. On the second day, they did all the outside work replacing any of the original wood and wrapping all the wood in vinyl and doing outside caulking. The workmen were very efficient, courteous, and willing to answer questions. The install was promised to be 2 days and it took 2 days! They cleaned up everything when they were finished, both inside and out. After the install, we noticed, the outside noise was muted (almost non-existent). The sunlight was more muted than with our previous windows. There is no air flow or leakage around any of the windows. A casual observer might not notice we had these windows replaced, except the house now has a much "cleaner" look to the windows than before. We are extremely happy with the windows and the workmanship and plan to use Mengel Exteriors for other jobs on the outside of our 25 year old house!!!! The windows were installed on schedule, were installed to my satisfaction and at the price agreed upon. I could not have been more satisfied.

After a couple of weeks of unusual and severe temperatures this winter, feeling like we were living in an igloo and paying the price in heating, we realized it was time to get serious about replacing our windows. We contacted five vendors to schedule staggered appointments over a period of three days to meet with each salesmen, view samples and gain a better understanding of the differences in products and warranties. Though all five salesmen were professional, friendly, punctual and brought samples, we found Mengel Exteriors' salesman, Brett Thompson, and the Alside triple-pane window exceptional. While all salesmen offered residential properties for us to drive by and view, the three we selected from Brett's collection out-shined the others. As we were sifting through proposals and brochures in attempt to make a decision, one of our neighbors reminded us that he had recommended Mengel Exteriors previously and invited us to take a look inside and out of his windows, which were installed 10 years ago. As we closely examined the caulking, trim and windows, they all appeared to be brand new. His Mengel Exteriors recommendation, seeing it ourselves 10 years later... Well, we made our decision! We contacted Brett Thompson that we were ready to do business. (He was never pushy, always available, and provided fantastic response time throughout the process.) He then set timelines, which were met as promised. The crew that installed were able to complete the job in one full day and were also exceptional. Each of them had a specific task and well-set routine. Not a scrap of litter was left behind, and all former windows and screens were hauled away. A week after installation, Brett returned for a close examination of each window outside and inside, opening and closing, and locking/unlocking. There were a few minor things he noted - we hadn't noticed - that needed replacement and said someone would be calling us in a week to replace those minor pieces. We are very pleased with our purchase. Everything that was promised was delivered. The crew did a terrific job installing. We definitely made the right decision in buying our windows from Mengel Exteriors and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Had a couple of rough spots where the windows had arrived but it took them a few weeks to schedule installation. Then ther were a few issues with the installation -- some messed up trim on the inside and some repair on the outside. The salesman (Brett Thompson) was great -- identified the problems in a walk through and set up the work to rectify the problems. I'd go with them again -- the price was right and the service was great.

They were great. Their salesman came to our door and I suppose he knew that we wanted new windows as we had not been here for very long at all. He came in and brought his model with him. He really sold it to us as we bought the triple pane which was a little bit over daring in this area. We agreed on the cost and it was a good cost. They called and told us as to what time they would be there. They showed up on time and they were very professional when they came in. I don't remember whether they were wearing their shoes or not or if they wore things over their shoes. They did not make a mess and everything was cleaned up. They were quick and we have never had a problem with the windows. I would absolutely use them again in the future. They had their salesman in the area and they gave us references. We actually went to these people's houses and even talked to a few people. They all responded well.
