Mr. Tankersley got the job done pretty well. He seems to have a pretty small business but he got to my house within a couple of days to diagnose the problem, and within a week or so was back to do the repairs. Overall, he seemed to do a good job. The job was a tad messy (I found a little bit of black rubber caulking stuff that dripped in a couple places down the chimney and a bit on the porch, but not too bad). There was a loose brick that had fallen off of the corbel that he "glued" back in place with the black rubbery stuff, which is fine - but I think it probably would have looked better using mortar to put it back in place. It has been a couple of weeks since he did the repairs. There have been several hard rains and I haven't notice any more leaking. When Mr. Tankersley finally came by a couple weeks after the repairs to get payment and give me a receipt, he did a great job of explaining what had been done and why. He explained where the leaks came in, and was confident it would not leak anymore. He also said he was more than willing to come back and make it right if the problem persisted. He also gave me a quote on a new roof since I'll need it replaced in a couple of years also. I am pretty pleased with the work. He is a small business so I think the prices are better than some big roofing company, so you don't feel swindled. Mr. Tankersley has been in the business over 30 years, so no need to worry about experience. I'd recommend him, but try to meet with him in person before he does the work so you can show exactly what you want done. It was difficult explaining/understanding the work over the phone like I did.
Description of Work: The two angles of the roof drain directly into the chimney where the walls meet, causing water to seep through and down into the walls around chimney. Mr. Tankersley flashed the chimney in the back and sides, installed step flashing under the copper counter flashing all around the chimney, and put a new rubber top on top of the chimney and also on the part of the chimney that curves to one side. Some shingles had to be replaced, but they were matched well to the old roof.
