Myers Fencing Co.

Even though the price was higher than another company, we hired Myers because we had used them in the past and the gate is still in good shape. The new fence they installed looks good and seems sturdy. They installed the wrong gate, and did replace it with the correct one, although the latch they used for replacement made it so we could not even open the gate. They replaced the latch, but it still does not fit properly. They also left a hole in the driveway that they drilled for the incorrect gate. When they came to our property to make the replacement, they did not notify us. Because we do not always use this entrance, this meant our property was unsecured for several days at a time. They did this more than once, even after we asked them not to do this again.

Due to weather they couldn't get started when originally planned but once complete it looked pretty good.
However there was one picket at the gate hinge that was split.  I contacted them to see about getting it fixed.  It took almost two weeks for them to get out there and once they were done I couldn't open the gate more than a foot or so.
While they did replace the split picket they messed up the gate.  The top hinge is crooked and there's a securing bolt at the bottom that went in at a pretty severe angle.
The account manager sent them back out that night but even after that it would only open about two feet.
Jim, the sales guys told me the owner of the company would be right out to look it over and fix it.
Two days later I guess he came out but the hinge and bolt were still off.  As far as I could tell all they did was to cut off the bottom of the three pickets on the gate.
I was even okay with that.  The gate worked - opened all the way.
I went out this morning though and once again it won't open all the way without dragging along the drive the gate is next to.  I've sent another email to Jim in hopes they'll finally rectify this but so far I'm not that hopeful.  Based on what's happened to this point I could never recommend them.

The above pretty much covers it.  I would never, ever recommend this company to anyone.  It was a hide and seek game from the start.  I don't have the time or patience for silly games with unprofessional contractors.  They just lost several more jobs from me.  I plan to use A & W Fence and Deck Company next...no reviews on them, but so far, they've done what they say, and that's a big improvement!  I'll give a full report on them when they complete my current job.

Besides very little communication, installing the fence went all right. The problem is the follow up. I have two gates that are warping as the wood dries out. I have called at least 10 times asking for 2 additional gate latches for the top of the gates -- I want them to match the ones he used. I have offered to pay for them, of course. Each time he tells me he will put them in the mail, but I have never received them -- after 6 months of contacting him. He even installed 2 fences in my neighborhood -- one next door -- but he still hasn't followed through with his promise to get me the gate hardware. I guess I should be thankful we didn't have a major problem after installation. Customer service is extremely poor. Would not recommend.

Prior to the construction, everything went very smoothly and Mr. Troy Myers was quite responsive in meeting my needs and requests for my fence. After the fence was built and I notified Mr. Myers of the problems, he essentially vanished and stopped returning my phone calls for two weeks. What finally made him call was complaints I had filed with the Better Business Bureau (which he is now a member of...not really sure how). Troy refused to take down nor rebuild my fence to what had been requested despite numerous documents that showed exactly what I wanted and an invoice directly from Myers Fencing stating the proper specifications. What bothered me most about the situation was Troy's inability to own up to the mistakes he made and make the situation right, which is all I wanted. Instead he lied numerous times and attempted to drag out the problem through the court system despite me having a wealth of evidence contradicting everything he said. He even went as far as trying to change the original documentation to show what type of fence he actually did build. I wouldn't deal with Troy Myers and make sure you do your homework on these fencing contractors. Also if you look him up on the Better Business Bureau, he has had numerous complaints against him, by far the most out of anyone in the Lexington-area. I'm quite surprised he is able to still conduct business the way he does...its truly amazing.
