+ -1 moreI had work some one month prior to this problem and right after that work was done we started up the pool filter and the bubbles started. This was not a problem previously! So they came out to check my problem and they said it was a leak in my lines. Estimate came back at $4200. It was upset because I hadn’t had this problem prior to their work and they said the leak was right by the area they had just done. They said it was not their fault and they said they left the job with lines holding pressure. But as soon as I turned filter on the problem was there!! So they had not seen their work while filter was running!! I didn’t ask for free work, I just asked for a price reduction. I emailed and called several times. I was told they would get back with me... and I have heard nothing!! They were unwilling to compromise on the cost and didn’t even show enough courtesy to call me back. I will never allow anyone I know to use them for any work and I will be filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau!!
Description of Work: Bubbles were coming out of my return lines.

+ -1 moreI called American Leak Detection, left a voice mail and they returned my call promptly. They said they had a crew close to my home, and could be here within a couple of hours. Two men came promptly. They spent less than 30 minutes in my home, and presented me with a $275 invoice. They did all of the things that my plumber had done, but when they looked at the water meter they said I did not have a leak in a pressurized water line. They said the leak must be in a drain line, and recommended that I engage a plumbing company that had a "sewer camera". I believe a $275 charge for 2 men for less than 30 minutes is very unreasonable. It would have been a reasonable charge if I did in fact have a water line leak & the company performed it's normal process in finding the leak. I called to speak to someone about an adjustment to the charge. I left a voice mail. They did not return my call.
Description of Work: I had moisture on my kitchen floor. I called my plumber who checked all of the potential sources (dishwasher, refrigerator, clothes washing machine, and the kitchen sink). He could not find any problems. He went outside and opened the water meter lid and said that he thought I had a very slight water line leak. He recommended that I call American Leak Detection.

Description of Work: I called to help me find a leak in my pool. They showed up as desired and charged me what I was quoted (although I thought the price was high - I agreed to it). | |They tested the pressure in my lines - all passed... They seemed a little put out that I also wanted a dive test even though that's what I asked for on the phone. They patched about 7 places in the liner to help fix my leak. | |I have used them several times in the past. THey are more expensive than others but they do a great job the first time. |

+ -1 moreWe had a leak in the inbound water supply line to our house. I used American Leak Detection, 502-538-9373, to locate the leak ($350) and considering it was 3' underground I was impressed and felt that was reasonable. They pump in a helium like gas and use a sniffer to find the leak and they were right on the money locating it. With my son's help I dug the hole down to the joint that was leaking which saved me considerable cost vs the plumber digging it. I then called Norton & Associates Plumbing, 812-948-8828, to come out to fix it. I felt their charges of $155 were very reasonable. I chose Norton as they were one of the top rated plumbers in the area on Angie's list. Both companies deserve their A rating.

+ -1 moreCame out once, two men, and within 45 minutes had identified an area about 3' x6' where they detected the leak. They used a gas to pressurize the line and then detected the gas as it rose through the ground. We dug at the center line of the marked area and did not find the leak. We extended our dig zone toward the street and still had no luck. I called the company, explained what was happening, and they got back to me promptly. They had a nearby crew stop by to retest. This crew found the leak in the same general area, but about a foot outside the originally marked area, toward the neighbor's house. Since we had already dug a hole not far from the leak, I and the serviceman from American Leak dug out in the new direction until the actual leak was located. Only took about 10 minutes. I obviously would have liked to have found the leak closer to the 'sweet spot' marked originally, but I was very pleased with the promptness that American Leak came back out to identify the actual location. Both crews were courteous, professional and knew exactly what they were doing.

+ -1 moreWe actually used them twice. Two different underground leaks. (the subcontractor that the builder used did a very poor job, when the house was built.) they identified the location of the leak, using their equipment, and dug a basketball sized hole. No backhoes, jackhammers. Just two fellows that worked hard and fixed everything. (the water bill jumped... That is how we knew.)
Description of Work: They found the underground leak and repaired it, without tearing up the yard.

+ -1 moreI would recommend this company to anyone. After two weeks of work on the leak I was in bad need of an and quot;earth angeland quot; and American delivered one.
Description of Work: I am from the "Sunny side of Louisville" and have a leak under my concrete slab house. My water bill more than tripled in one month. I am thankful the water was not puddling in the house but seeping into the backyard. It could easily be heard everywhere water was available. Plumber could not locate the leak even after drilling holes every 2 feet across the laundry room and my carpeted family room floor. Furniture had to be displaced, carpet pulled up, main valve turned off when water not in use. American Leak Detection (Louisville, Ky) was called late the day before, could not get to job then but promised for the next day. They showed up on time with the right equipment. The serviceman check all above ground plumbing then started on the real work. He found the leak much faster than I thought he would and marked it for the plumber to repair. The leak was right where he said it would be. The serviceman was friendly, explained what he was doing and worked efficiently. I would definitely call American Leak Detection if I had a another leak (Heaven forbid). I now await the plumber coming to repair the leak.
