Description of Work: John came out to see what we needed done and called later that day with an estimate. Two men came the next day to install our Rinnai heater and gas stove. They were professional, personable, and efficient. We are very pleased with the work they did.

Description of Work: We have a large house with two HVAC units. One of them was no longer able to maintain temperature so we called Climate Solutions. They sent someone out promptly and told us that our heat exchanger had corroded and needed to be replaced. I know a little about HVAC and this sounded reasonable to me so we had them replace the heat exchanger. Everything seemed fine. A couple of weeks later I noticed a pool of water around the unit so I asked them to come out and take a look. They did, promptly, and told me that the drain line had been clogged up and backed up. This also sounded reasonable. When the weather started to warm up I went downstairs one day and found a large puddle of water in our den that had leaked out from the unit. I aspirated that water with a wet vac, checked the unit, decided it was okay, and turned it back on. The next day the same pool of water (4 gallons removed with wet vac) was present. I called up Climate Solutions and talked with them briefly about what the problem might be. Because they could not make it out to the house immediately, and we had a party scheduled in a couple of days, I decided to take a look at it myself. I opened up the unit and checked around the heat exchanger. It seemed to be okay. I then decided to dismantle the drain line. It was open and not clogged. As I was pondering what to do next, I saw a large sign on the base of the heat exchanger that said something like. "Attention, this unit comes with multiple drain outlets. Because of this each outlet is plugged at the factory and the outlet used must have its plug removed before attachment of the drain pipe." I thought, surely they could not have forgotten to remove the plug?? I put my finger into the outlet that they used and sure enough, it was plugged. I removed the plug and a bunch of condensate water came pouring out. I reattached the drain line. What really caused problems for me and the main reason that I am writing this evaluation is that I called Climate Solutions to tell them what I thought the problem was (I thought they might want to learn from their mistakes) and they denied that that was the problem with the unit. I explained several times why what I did made sense. There is essentially no condensate in the winter months from the heat exchanger because it is dry air and you are heating. But when the summer comes the moisture laden air rapidly deposits water on the heat exchanger that is much cooler than the ambient air. That's why it didn't leak much during the winter, but did during the winter. Because the drain line was plugged, there was no where for the water to go but overflow over the heat exchanger pan and on to the floor. They swore up down that what I did was not the problem and they would come over and fix it. They wanted to come out in a day or two to look at it. I told them not to bother, I considered it fixed. Indeed, the unit has functioned wonderfully since that day. So my irritation stems not only from the fact that they made a very simple mistake during installation (that even I could rectify - I'm an educator, not an HVAC person), and then they had the audacity to deny that they had made the mistake and that what I had done would not fix it.
