Description of Work: Hired the brothers to remodel/update kitchen and install hardwood flooring. Before any work started, I made it clear that it must be completed by Christmas due to having family for the holiday. If not, I didn't want to start the work. I was assured that it would be finished in time..numerous times. In short, the work was not finished, they were paid basically in full, and I had to fight to get my cabinet doors/drawer fronts back. They were kept elsewhere by the brothers, and I was told that without $, I would not get them back. My kitchen was left in shambles for Christmas, with no doors on any of the cabinets and unfinished lights, trim, and painting. When I finally got my cabinet doors back, they were dropped off, not finished being painted, and not hung or fitted with hardware. This experience with Kirk and Whitney was the worst experience I've ever had with anyone I've hired to do work for me. Steer clear of this company. They are unreliable and dishonest. I was actually fearful at one point of them. It's still difficult to think about and talk about, and I sincerely wish I had never met them.

The work was done very quickly and professionally. They were responsive to all my questions and the estimate came in at least $1000 less than the next closest estimate. Unfortunately, they hit rock when installing, which broke their equipment. This led to a delay of a few weeks while the equipment was repaired, but they didn't charge me any additional fees. I had an issue with one of the sprinkler heads leaking and they came out the next day to repair. Very happy overall and would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Installation of full irrigation system.

I'm not sure what has happened with these men, but I can no longer recommend them. Kurt does beautiful work. I have been promised on several occasions by Whitney that work will be done but he never follows through. A friend used them upon my recommendation for a major remodel in their home (summer 2013) and after they left a seam came apart in the ceiling and after assuring her they would take care of it they no longer will return her calls.
Description of Work: Kurt did all the work pretty much by himself...put up a wall with double glass doors in basement, built a large closet, both covered in bead board, ran baseboards throughout entire basement, installed wet bar & added additional cabinets in the main kitchen. Additional work to the deck (resealing & hanging lattice) to be done in the spring was never done.

Description of Work: Called them do give me a bid on remodeling my basement. Very basic stuff. Came to look at it and said they would like to do job and would have a bid to me shortly. After about 2 weeks I called them to find out why I haven't heard from them, Whitney sais his partner was sick and I would have my bid in 3 days. Never heard from them. Don't know much about their work but not professional at all. Good luck with them. I wouldn't trust them with a dime of my money!

On November 13 we phoned 3 vendors (including this one) with A+ ratings from Angie’s list. They all came to look at the work we had within the next few days. All said they would be back at a specific time for a closer look before submitting a quote. We have yet to hear from any of them (as of Dec 2). The quality of their work may be fine, but if you call them, be ready to lose time if they are not interested in your job. Needless to say, after waiting 10 days, we moved on.
Description of Work: No services performed.

We recently had plantation shutters installed that open from our house into an added-on sunroom. The idea originated with a product we saw in Home Depot that interested us, but the project was somewhat unique in that we needed an existing window removed and the plantation shutters installed to replace the window, rather than as a window treatment. We investigated Wilder Contracting via Angie’s List and had them come by. While they weren’t specifically familiar with the product we had originally seen in Home Depot, they suggested a Hunter-Douglas shutter that was far superior to the rather shabby (in comparison) product we saw in Home Depot. Again, the application and idea was somewhat unique but both Kirk and Whitney readily grasped what I had in mind. We found their price to be reasonable and decided to proceed. I don’t think you’ll find anyone more conscientious than Whitney and Kirk, right down to the finest detail. They consistently exhibited an enormous amount of pride in their work and that pride inspired a great deal of confidence in me – as this project required a bit of invention and creativity, confidence was of the utmost importance. These two gentlemen were always punctual, reliable and are the type of individuals that exude professionalism and credibility. I’ll definitely have them back, I have something else in mind, even as I write this. I wish that I could include pictures with this review, it looks spectacular!

I found the Wilder Brothers to be very responsive at the initial stage of coming to my home to discuss the necessary improvements, which were related to my living room subfloor and exterior trim. I called one afternoon and we set up a time for the following week. Although they arrived to the appointment roughly 45 minutes late, they were nice enough to call at the time of the appointment to explain their delay. When they arrived, they were very thorough in examining the damage and I felt comfortable they'd do good work at a reasonable price. I was seeking a third quote for the work described above since my initial two quotes from two of their competitors were for such wildly different amounts. I was promised a quote within "a few days," which I said was more than expected given that the first two quotes I received took two and three weeks to get back, respectively. I was pleased to get a call the very next day from Whitney asking if he could revisit my property to take a look at the deck as a possible cause for some of my living room subfloor's unevenness. Unfortunately, all two-way communication ended at this point. I waited for the quote for two more weeks before calling Whitney to ask about the progress. He promised he hadn't "forgotten about me" and that he'd be in touch the following week. That was more than a month ago. I've given up any expectation that I'm actually going to get a quote since it's clear the Wilder Brothers have forgotten about me. Most disappointing is that this process was essentially a waste of another 7 weeks and I'm no closer to getting a third quote.
Description of Work: I contacted the Wilder Brothers to provide a quote on my living room subfloor and a significant amount of exterior trim replacement. (No work has been performed.)

Gave me an estimate on Monday and arrived and completed the job on Wednesday. Professional and always on time. I was very satisfied with the finished product.
Description of Work: Replaced, and reinforced some water damage in my crawl space as well as in my entry way.
It went great! Their work was professional and they were so pleasant to work with. They kept me informed thru the entire job and even did a couple of small things that I asked for. I look forward to working with them again in the future and have referred them on to several others that have seen their work.
Description of Work: Whitney & Kurt laid approx 1000 sq ft of flooring in my business & wrapped the reception desk in painted beadboard.

The two Wilder Brothers, Whitney and Kirk, were a pleasure to work with. Very honest fellows that shoot you straight and work with your budget... large or small. They continuously generated ideas that increased the value of the project while saving money without compromising quality. Their attention to detail is phenomenal... and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for general contracting in Louisville!
Description of Work: Our project involved developing a 1000 square foot bare-boned, concrete basement into a 750 sq ft living space, with 250 sq ft as an unfinished utility/laundry area. After interviewing six (6) total contractors, Wilder came in with the lowest bid with the friendliest personalities, and we felt very comfortable that they could complete the project as planned. The entire project cost us roughly $15,000 which included materials and labor. The basement development included:• Living Area• Office Area• Bedroom• Full Bath• Utility/Laundry Area They performed most of the work themselves and farmed out just a few portions of the project... mainly electrical and a slight bit of plumbing. The electrician and plumber were each scheduled and overlooked by Wilder contracting. At no point did we feel uncomfortable with Wilder Contracting subbing portions of the project out, as we felt they always looked out for our best interests.

.The quote was around $1100 . He did not have anything to write his estimate on. I had to glean his estimate. I am pretty sure that he is the one who rustled up on a piece of paper and acted as if he would rather be somewhere else. I got only three estimates and everybody was better in answering my questions and taking notes but he seemed like he was not interested in doing the work. I will not consider him to provide a quote in the future.

We respectfully disagree with this rating. We told [member name removed] we were unable to bid this project due to the size of the project and location -- the project wasn't feasible at that time.

I was fortunate to have someone on Craigslist refer me to Wilder Contracting after I posted an ad requesting referrals to get kitchen cabinets/countertop installed. In addition to doing a superb job with my cabinets, they were extremely helpful, professional, courteous, and went above and beyond what most contractors would do to get the job done to my satisfaction. They provided quality work and came prepared with all the professional tools needed to complete the job in one day. I could not have been more pleased with their service and expertise and I definitely plan to use them again and again. More importantly, I feel confident in referring them to anyone who is looking for an honest and hardworking company who will make sure your project is completed timely and accurately.
Description of Work: Wilder Contracting installed 9 kitchen cabinets and a countertop. Additionally, the countertop had to be cut to fit the cabinets.

Both times I have used Wilder construction I have been very satisfied with the workmanship of the job. The company is composed of two brothers that have many years of experience between them and it seems that they are proficient at almost everything. The thing I like the best is that they are perfectionists about their work.
Description of Work: This time I had a new enginnered wood floor installed in Kitchen ( 500sq ft). Traditional hardwood installed in upstairs hallway, ceiling repair in library, and upstairs hall painted. Also had new porcelain tile installed on steps and entryway going to back door.
