Service USA Home Inspections

Since we were living 1000 miles away at the time of the inspection, we did not attend and relied heavily on the findings of the inspector. The company was recommended to us by our real estate agent in Louisville. The inspector missed a number of problems that only came to light after the closing on the property. These included windows that could not be opened, broken window panes and broken storm windows, an exterior door in the walk out basement that could not be opened, and a crack in the foundation wall with a faulty repair (this later leaked). As a result we had to invest over $8,000 to correct the problems and would have requested compensation from the seller had these been reported by the inspector.

I called Service USA as a recommendation from my mortgage broker. I told them I wanted someone who specialized in older homes. They made an appointment for me the next day. Their agent, Fred Hatfield arrived promptly at the scheduled time. Fred was the most friendly and professional contractor I have ever dealt with. He even made recommendations for improvements that were not required of the inspection. He gave me many insights into the structure and construction of my older home. He was very thorough and provided me two copies of his report right there on site. I highly recommend you ask for Fred if you have an older home.

HE POINTED OUT SOME VERY GOOD FEATURES, NOT JUST SMALL THINGS THAT WERE WRONG. HE GAVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS ON HAVING THINGS REPAIRED TO KEEP US FROM HAVING TO DO IT AGAIN. HE WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND.

THEY ARE AVERAGE. THEY SAID SOME THINGS WERE WRONG WITH THE HOUSE THAT WERE NOT WRONG WHEN WE GOT A SECOND OPINION AND THEY DIDN'T CATCH SOME THINGS THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT.

IVE USED THEM IN THE PAST WHEN I PURCHASED THE HOME. THEY WERE HONEST AND KNOWLEDGEABLE AND WANTED TO USE THEM AGAIN. WHEN COMPARED TO THE OTHERS, THEY WERE AROUND THE SAME AMOUNT BUT SINCE I HAD USED THEM BEFORE I DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AROUND THIS LAST TIME.
