I cannot say enough great things about Scott's work. He is a detailed guy who goes above and beyond. The project turned out beautifully. I love the new plants, design layout & stone. I enjoy spreading mulch, so I asked Scott to let me do that part of the job. However, he noticed I didn't have anything to haul that quantity of mulch, so he ran to two different locations after the job was complete to get what I needed and didn't up charge. On top of that, immediately following the completion of the job, we had a weekend of record setting rain. Our grass seed and straw were destroyed. Scott came out first thing Monday to reseed and replace the lost straw. He has great ideas and is very patient in listening to the consumers concerns and questions. Thank you for the beautiful yard Scott. I cannot wait for spring to see everything in bloom!

Scott is amazing!! He is responsive and prompt and was very helpful, patient and candid during the bid process. My whole front yard was in upheaval due to a mainline replacement that required tearing out the existing front bushes. It was a mess - a mound of dirt and rocks through the entire front yard and messy, muddy, unevenly graded portions where the bushes had been removed by the plumbers. Despite being a relatively small job Scott was flexible and worked with me-- adjusting the schedule as I tried to figure out what I could really afford (after the expense of the plumbing!), and to try to accommodate other work potentially being done. When I finally settled on the schedule he arrived this morning (the scheduled date) with one other worker (also very professional) and they got right to work. I was leaving for work as they were starting, and when I arrived back home the job was complete and it looks beautiful! No more mound of earth snaking through the front yard -- it has all been leveled and seeded -- and the two beds framing the front door are lovely. Scott even salvaged some existing plants I hadn't noticed for all the mud, and incorporated them into the design. The yard was filled with debris (rocks, sticks, etc) and Scott removed and hauled away all of that, leaving a clean and new landscape. He had also emailed me to let him know when I was available to talk through the care of the new plants. When I said I was available now for a couple of hours he came back over immediately! While walking me through the plant care he was patient (even encouraging!) with me taking notes and asking lots of questions. Oh! He also upgraded some of the plants at no charge because the ones he bid out for me weren't available when he went to pick them up. Scott is great!! I will definitely work with him again if more landscaping is needed in the back.

The service was outstanding from start to finish. Scott personally came out and met with me to find out exactly what I was needing. He took photos of the property and marked bushes with tape as to not forget what needed to be done. Within a few days I had a drawing on paper of the new design layout, including the names of plants he would be using. He never made me feel silly for not knowing the names of plants/trees/bushes. He also listened very well to what I liked and did not like. He first gave me a total estimate for tear out and replacement. I decided to do the project in two phases given I was ready to proceed with tear out but wanted to wait until closer to fall for the planting process. He then came out a second time, given I had changed my mind on some details and wanted to do another walk thru with him. The tear out process took two days. Scott and a partner did the entire job and were both professional and timely. You can tell Scott is knowledgeable and takes pride in what he does. My husband and feel it could not have gone better and are looking forward to working with Scott on phase two of the project!

I got 3 bids for the work and they were all fairly similar. I felt most comfortable with Scott, as he is a landscaping designer; and said he would personally oversee the work. He was on time for all of his appointments, and helped to improve my vision of what I wanted to accomplish in my backyard. He was also very responsive and patient to the many changes I made right up to 3 days before the install was to take place. I changed the type of tree 3 times, and he guided me through the process of what would work best in the urban setting I was working with. He personally worked two days with his crew to complete the project, and made changes on the fly as we saw what would work and would not. We did have to adjust the price for my changes twice, and he was more than reasonable with that, considering we already had a signed agreement, and he could have been difficult with price changes. At the end of the job, he wrote out a detailed watering schedule and made recommendations on when to fertilize the plants in the future. I would recommend his company for any job, large or small that you are looking to accomplish. He delivers what is agreed upon, and then goes beyond that to make adjustments as necessary. Because you never really know exactly what you want until you see it developing in front of you.

Scott lives nearby, so he dropped by our house the afternoon that we made our first call. He was prompt, responsive, flexible, and had lots of good ideas about how to make our landscaping look good while still being low-maintenance. We delayed signing for several weeks as we thought we'd shop around. Guess what? Seems other landscapers are either so busy or so inept that they don't bother to return phone calls. So while I usually get several quotes, we ended up getting fed up with the runaround from the other landscapers we contacted, and we called Scott back and expanded the contract. We were a little reluctant at the cost of the plants he brought in; when we brought that up, he worked with us to find a middle ground, which was great. Scott and one other worker knocked out all the work in less than a day, then made a follow up appointment with us to go over all the care for the new plants and to show what work he did. He was very thorough, and the entire yard was clean -- no signs of trimmings or yard waste. Scott professional attitude, prompt responses, and great landscaping made him a great person to work with. We look forward to using him again and recommending him to others.

Scott did a wonderful job and is GREAT to work with. He's responsive, professional, and will provide what you want - not try to talk you into something else. Unlike other companies, Scott does the design, gives you the estimate, AND is there when all the work is accomplished. There's no risk that whatever you discuss upfront won't be communicated to the work crew. (That's happened to us with other projects too many times.) Tell Scott what you want, give him an idea of your budget, and you will be thrilled with the results.

Contracted with Scott to tear out a row of five huge burning bush and two taxus on the side of our house. Scott and his partner pulled out the plants, disposed of the plant material, ground the stumps, planted a row of yellow knockout roses, mulched the area and cleaned up and left - all in just 3 1/2 hours. Roses have now come out of transplant shock and are sending out new green growth and lots of blooms. Very pleased with the work - so pleased we've told Scott we'd like to use him on a larger landscaping job this fall. Would recommend asking Scott for a quote on just about anything involving landscaping

Scott, from Scott's Landscaping, was very helpful from the beginning. Scott was easy to communicate with and arrived at my house at the scheduled time. He took his time looking over my yard and provided a thorough estimate. I liked that Scott explained his design and the reason he selected particular plants for each area. His enthusiasm for landscape design and plants is evident. Scott provided a drawing of his design that allowed me to visualize his plan and ensure that it was to my liking. Overall, the estimate experience was low pressure and gave me just what I wanted - a description of the services provided and a detailed estimate of the price. After scheduling the service, Scott and his team completed their work in a timely and neat fashion. His crew was courteous and careful of my property. Scott worked along side his crew the entire time. He may be the owner, but he's not afraid to get his hands dirty. I appreciated this because I knew that being on site allowed him to oversee all work and ensure that it was done correctly. Once all work was done, he provided instructions on how to care for the plants and ensure they last. Overall, I am very pleased with the job that Scott's Landscaping performed and have already recommended them to friends and family.

To have a worry free experience with someone you have never met before is rare, let's be honest. Well, Scott is a gem in the world of business. He's straightforward, fairly-priced, knowledgeable, and--a great strength-- an excellent communicator. We had a messy old landscape area in our backyard transformed by Scott Rief into a visual treat. Accountable..pleasant to work with..creative and passionate about his work..did what he promised he'd do from start to finish. Left our yard better than he found it in terms of cleanup. After years of dreaming of having a professional landscaper come to my house and do a design with suggestions of low maintenance plants, etc. this dream finally came true this summer. After reading ALL of Scott's Landscaping reviews on Angie's List I made the call. We set up an appointment and he was here right on time. After telling him how little I knew about taking care of plants, the only thing I knew I wanted, were things that would be very easy to care for. .He took pictures of my house and told me he would draw up a design with different things and would also include pictures of the plants. Within a few days I received not only a wonderful design, but a very detailed price list with each plant, labor costs, pea gravel, etc. Nothing left out. After reviewing the drawing there were a few things I wanted to replace so I called and we went over those and he gave me pro's and con's for the replacements and also came up with other plants. After that he emailed me a new layout with the plants and again, included pictures of the new chosen plants. All I needed to do was print the invoice off and sign it and he asked if I had an IPhone or Smartphone and I replied yes, so he said I could sign the paperwork, take a copy and send it to him. I had to laugh as I only have had my IPhone a week and was still learning how to use it. He was more than kind to walk me through it. Not only did Scott take the extra time with me going through everything, but, taught me something I didn't know how to do on my phone yet. Talk about timesaving for us both by doing it this way. Within 3 days, he came to my house and removed 23 year old shrubs and prepared the ground for the plants the next day. After he had everything in the spots where they were going, before he planted them he took the time to take a picture and sent it to me at work. I was so excited, I felt like a child on Christmas Eve as I could hardly wait to get home and see the total finish transformation of my house. As I pulled into my court I was totally amazed and excited. Words cannot describe how pleased I am!!!!! Scott knew I was nervous as this was a very big deal for me as I do not have a green thumb. He went over everything with me on each plant and went as far as turning the water back on and showed me the strength I should have the water on, and exactly where to water each plant to make sure they are getting it properly. Much to my surprise my bill ended up being a little less than originally thought as he didn't use a couple of daylily plants as he did not want them to be overcrowded. So, I was very happy. As he was leaving, Scott told me he would email me with some helpful hints on each plant. Sure enough, within a few hours there was the email. Not only did he give me helpful hints on each, he guided me through the fall and winter months too!!!!!! It has certainly been a wonderful experience working with Scott and I HIGHLY recommend him, you will not be disappointed! He certainly goes the extra mile for his customers!

When I was first wanted to hire a landscaper, I used Angies List to start my search. Scott's Landscaping was highly rated so I included them in my five estimates. Right from the start, the owner, Scott Rief, returned my call promptly and arranged a date for the estimate. When we met, he was very professional and listened to my concerns and what I wanted to have done. While I am by no means familiar with different plants, bushes, shrubs, or flowers, I had an idea of what I wanted to to. Scott drew up a detailed plan for my yard and had it mailed to me withing the week. Along with the plan was an itemized estimate as well as pictures of what each plant looked like. That was the most helpful part of the entire estimate as all the different options can be dizzying and it really helped me visualize what my yard would look like. It was the most professional proposal of them all and I was completely confident in hiring him. He started and finished on time and was never a nuisance or in the way. There were some adjustments along the way and he was very accommodating in working with what I wanted to change. He even cleaned and added topsoil to my vegetable garden! When we met to finalize things, he was very good at supplying details on pruning, watering, and upkeep. I even asked him to give me an estimate for a clean up for next year. I can honestly say that I wish all small businesses were run as professionally. It was a pleasure to work with someone that did what they said they were going to do, when they said they would do it, and for the price that was agreed upon. While his price did not undercut anyone, it was well within the range of all the other estimates. I feel that I have found a landscaper that I can trust and rely on for any projects that I may have, big or small and I would most definitely be calling him again for any landscaping needs that I may have.

From the day he arrived to clear everything out so he could start from scratch until he finished the whole job on the second day, he worked very efficiently and quickly. And when he was all through and my ugly corner of the yard was now a pretty place for me, he cleaned up after himself and left the place in great condition.

It all went well! Scott devoted extra time to make sure his plan met our hopes and expectations. Install went super smoothly. -Great experience.

Scott and his crew did a great job. The areas that he landscaped look great and we are very happy with his work. He also suggested several plants that we like better than the plants that we originally planned to plant in the beds. He has a good eye for what would look good in a landscape. We were very happy that we hired Scott and plan to hire him again for some additional work that we plan to do in the backyard next Fall.

Throughout the process, Scott kept us informed of what he was doing and when he would do it. He kept every commitment. Our yard has a very good clean and neat appearance and will be easy to maintain. UPDATE: Same old Scott.Great communicator.

Scott called and I told him what I wanted done (maybe I didn't go in depth enough) because I thought we could discuss everything when he came out to give me an estimate) he told me he didn't do small jobs and he does not work in Shelbyville. Another landscaper told me it was rude of him to say he didn't do small jobs even though this was no small job.

My wife and I want to redo our landscaping on front and side of house. After contacting Scott Rief, he came out and we spoke about what we wanted done (removal, brick aligning, new landscaping, and lighting). After taking measurements and some pictures for his reference, he came back to us a few days later with a very professional drawing showing the location of shrubs/plants/trees/lighting and the offical quote. We reviewed the plans and asked a lot of questions (maintanence & growth). We made adjustments based of feed back he gave us and the budget my wife and I wanted to stay in. After adjustments were made the quote was revised accordingly. After planning, we worked through emails to show me his lighting hardware being used as well as scheduling the future work. Scott was very responsive with his feeback and extremely understanding/tolerant of my general questions. We had planned for a 3 day turn around for this project. Scott and his team came out on day 1 to remove all current landscaping. He cam back on Day 2 to align the brick and add landscaping/mulch. On day 3, he added the lighting. Throughout the work, I only had to be at home for the lighting so he could run the wiring. Thankfully, Scott kept me up to date every day on what was done and what to expect moving forward. All went as planned and was wthin out budget we were expecting. Out neighbors have been extremely pleased with his work and are glad we chose Scott's Landscaping!

Scott was quick to respond to my phone call to schedule the estimate, and then later when I called back to have him do the project. He is very polite, professional and punctual. He provided me with a drawing of the proposed landscape layout and itemized his fees. I had gotten a few other estimates from other companies, but I chose to go with Scott's company. He listened to my needs regarding the project. I needed something attractive, low maintenance and at an affordable price. That's exactly what I got. He is very knowledgeable about his profession, and did a great job for me. Thanks, Scott.

Scott's design incorporated all of the ideas that we had asked, especially the fact that the landscape planting be low-maintenance. The design was beautiful and colorful. Plus, the project was well within the budget we had planned. However, when our daughter became engaged, we decided to forgo a professional landscaper and save money by attempting to lanscape our lawn ourselves. I wish we could have hired Scott though!
