We emailed a picture of our desk to Gregg. He identified it and told us that it was a nice piece and worth restoring. He gave us an estimate which was exactly what we ended paying for the job. He came out to our house, picked up the desk and brought a brochure of hardware for us to choose from to complete the project. He even took a drawer from a dresser that would be in the same room as the desk so the color would match. The desk was completed before the estimated finish date. Gregg brought the desk back out to our house. I am very impressed with the quality of the work. It is beautiful and matches the other furniture in the room. They made a few repairs which we were not anticipating being done and even replaced the back. I am extremely happy and love my "new" cherry desk.

After getting estimates from several local shops, we settled on Schumann's for several reasons. First of all, rather than just quoting a 'rough estimate' over the phone, Gregg Schumann came to our home to see the furniture we needed to have refinished. He spent time telling us some history about each piece, who manufactured it and when, what kinds of woods were used and how they were originally finished as well as discussing exactly what they would do and how much it would cost. Gregg took our very tired looking dining room table first and when he and one of the guys from the shop delivered it a few weeks later, we were delighted with the results. They had even managed to replicate a piece of wood that has chipped off of the edge years ago to perfection. They carefully set the table in place, buffed off any finger prints and were very clean, efficient and took pride in their work. What a shame that there are plenty of laborers and so few craftsmen these days, but a delight to know that Gregg Schumann and the skilled craftsmen at Schumann Antiques are there to provide excellent service from start to finish when you need them. In the beginning, price was a big consideration in choosing Schumann, but having had such an excellent experience from start to finish, they will always be the people we call for furniture refinishing and restoration.
