Installer/ owner asked for an exorbitant credit card processing fee. The plumber who came to the house was courteous and did a good job. The initial phone message quote for installing a water heater was $ 1200. there was a mention of a processing fee for payment by credit card. The plumber who came to the house had an invoice that stated $1250. it was assumed that the $ 50 was the credit card processing fee. When the work was completed the price asked was $1500, stating that there was a $ 250 processing fee per $ 1000. The person at the house paying for me refused to pay that price and the price was lowered to $1350 . I called the next day to ask for an explanation and to contest the $ 100 overcharge from the original in voice the owner gave me 2 different explanations of why he had to charge $ 100 and then yelled at me and accused me of lying when i told him I would contest this fee. He is highly unprofessional. If his bank is charging him a high processing fees for his credit card transactions it suggest that he has a lot of contested transactions. If we had know up front of this exorbitant fee we would have chosen an other installer.

I contacted Home Advisor and they  sent out RL Plumbing.   This was a brand new kitchen and all plumbing was new.   Sink was installed but leaking on one side due to mis-sized basket.     Water was backing up into the disposal.   Dishwasher was in place but needed to be pulled out and wrapped in insulation and hooked up to the sink or disposal.   My plumber just had back surgery, but this was a job that normally would have cost approx. $250.   So I was surprised when he gave me the bill for $435.   I just wrote a check and thanked him.   Twenty minutes after he left, I started cleaning some dishes.   Water ran all over the floor.    I called him back and he came the next day.   Charged me another $210.   I paid it.   He ran the water for a short time but when I  turned on the water later, it was still coming up the disposal.    Called him back.   He sent the apprentice plumber -- very nice guy -- two hours work clearing vent -- and charged me another $320.   This was nearly $1,000 for this small job.    Instead of taking responsibility for his own mistakes over and over, he was charging me full price leaving me to carry the whole burden of his errors.    I refused to pay this last charge and he reduced it to $250 by knocking off the service charge for this third visit.   I told him I would split that with him and pay him $125 bringing the total cost to $770.   He refused yesterday and said he is bringing it to small claims court.

So I placed my project on Home Advisor and RL Plumbing was the one of the first ones to contact me. So I hired him. I met his employee over at my rental house to unclog a drain. When the guy showed up he was a younger guy. He told me that he was sent to this job bc he was the skinniest guy working and would be the only one to be able to do the work. Which was a red flag. Then second red flag was that he didnt use shoe covers and it was nasty outside with snow and ice. So I take him to the two drains he needs to snake. He has with him a 25 foot small snake that you can get at home depot for $30. I told him multiple times that we had already used a snake bigger than that and it didnt get the clog. So he spends 3 hours using that snake that he may have snaked the drain 5 times in those 3 hours. He stood around for awhile saying that he was stumped. So I text his boss and said look your guy isnt getting anywhere and has been here for 3 hours and still hasnt found the clog and I cant pay your guy by the hour that long and he doesnt fix the problem because I will have to hire someone else. He text back and said that he was confident that he would get the drain unclog. So the guy ended up being there almost 3 more hours. He had to video call his boss because he didnt know what to do. Im not sure the young boy was even certified. So the boy is in the attic on video call with his boss telling him what to do. So he goes up to look at the vent pipe that goes to the roof. His boss tells him to cut it so that he can snake it. Well he ends up cutting it and the pipe falls through the roof. Thats when they finally decide that they need to leave. When RL plumbing guy is on his way out of the attic he didnt step on the boards and stepped on the dry wall and majorly cracked the kitchen ceiling. I have 2 witnesses to this. The tenant was in the kitchen when the employee stepped on ceiling and it cracked. Also owner can verify that only the RL plumbing guy was in the attic. So he just says that he cant fix it gathers his stuff and leaves. I get a text from the owner of RL Plumbing that the bill was going to be $200. I said are you kidding? I said I am not paying you that. I told you at the 3 hour mark that I couldnt afford to pay your guy when the work didnt get done and you let him stay there 3 more hours and work. On top of that your guy cut the vent pipe in the attic and stepped on kitchen ceiling and left a major crack. I said the only thing I am willing to pay you is for the service call which was $70. He said that his guy did not cause that damage. But I have multiple witnesses that can testify that he did and I have before pictures of ceiling showing that there was no damage. So when I told him I would only be paying the service fee he said fine instead of $200 that Im charging you I will charge you $150/hour and now your bill is 670.00. Which I have all this documented on text. I told him you cant raise the bill because you are mad at that I will be taking him to court suing for the damage that he caused. PLEASE NO ONE HIRE THIS COMPANY. NO A SIMPLE CLOGGED HAS TURNED INTO THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE.

I hired him to do a job of replacing some pipes he quoted me 120.0.0 an hour plus 30.0-40 materials. I hired him said ok sounds good. He advised he had to leave to go and get materials and come back. He left came back after I got back home at 1230 worked until 2 pm. Drain still is not working. He presented a bill for 640! I was like what happened to 120 and 30-40 for materials. He stated he charges for picking up materials which took him 2 hours!!!! he credited me for 1 hour after I brought it to his attention that he was severely overcharging he could have advised me of this charge upfront. When he presented his material charge of $90 vs the 30-40 he quoted. I asked for a receipt of the charges. He starts yelling at me **You hired me to do a job I was expecting to complete today**. Then he said hold up and put his hand in my face. Needless to say, he had to get out of my house immediately I am a woman and I am not going to argue back and forth with no man especially when mine was not home! DO NOT HIRE THIS DISHONEST MAN!!

It was a great experience. I had an emergency and was in panic mode. My hot water heater was leaking and backing up into the master bedroom closet. Ron came right out and diagnosed the situation and had a new hot water heater installed the same day. I will definitely be using these guys again the next time I need to enlist the services of a plumber.

Estimated $200-$300 for reconnecting kitchen plumbing after new countertop installation. Ended up not needing to install an air gap, which should have reduced the price. For the original work we asked him to estimate, he charged $70 service call + $125 faucet installation + $125 disposal installation. So, instead of it being $200-$300, with the reduced work, he charged $320. Then, after one of his two shopping trips for parts, he let us know that he was charging another $185 for re-piping the sink drain and loop, which he said I failed to disclose in my phone call. Total bill > $500 when we were expecting no more than $300. On the upside, the work seems well done and the plumber and his helper were pleasant and punctual. I would get an in-person estimate next time before hiring.

I called at about 8:30 for an emergency sump pump replacement during what seems to have become a regular deluge. The first five plumbers I had contacted were well known due to advertising and previous use, but all were busy and said they probably could not get anyone out until the next day. I tried Home Advisor, filled out the form and my call was returned promptly. He arrived soon afterward and installed the sump pump without much ado. Iâ m more than pleased and will use his services again. Couldnâ t be happier.
