+ -1 moreAfter several attempts for service while someone was home, they finally SAID they had provided the service when no one was there, and that they would send us a report. Again, several emails and attempts, NO report was ever sent. We only have their word that the service was done....... No visible proof. This was a waste of money in our opinion.

+ 0 moreWe purchased a $99 roof and gutter inspection. When the owner arrived, he stated becaue of our gutter guards that they could not check and clean the gutters. He showed us photos of flashing errors that our prior roofer had leaft and stated they would repair those with new flashing and guarnated no further leaks. Several days later I started picking up roofing nails off my deck that adjoined where the repairs were made. Upon inspection we saw many roofing nails laying on the roof. After a heavy rain, we saw water coming from a can light and dripping down an exterior wall. We called for a rework to stop the leak. Multiple calls were not returned. E-mail was ignored. Eventually when I stated we were going to post our experience on Angies List the owner called and made a service appointment. They never arrived. Call to the owner stated "they were just swamped and would get to us." Subsequent calls to reschedule were ignored. I would caution all members about the poor customer service and lack of responsiveness.
Description of Work: .On 8/5/2013 John Bell dba River City Vinly Supply responded to an Angies List ad purchased to clean and repair gutters. John reported he could not do that since we had leaf guards. He then after inspection advised he could spot our kitchen ceiling leak by replacing flashing on the back lower roof. Also he would fix outside corners of gutters to stop water escaping. He agreed to remove and replace gutter guards in affected areas per our invoice dated 8/5/2013. We padi $500 per the invoice and the crew made the flashing repair, leaving nails and litter on the roof. Gutter ends still leak profusely. After several calls failed to elicit a res[onse from John, I began tracking our contact. I had requested that they live up to their guarantee that they would stop the ceiling leak. It continues to this date. On 4/28/14 I spoke with John would responded the crew would be here next week. No crew arrived. On 6/3/14 I spoke with John whp said the crew would be here this week. No crew arrived. On 6/11/14 I spoke with John and he advised that his crew would take care of it this week. No crew arrived. On 6/24/14 I left a voicemail and received no response. On 6/25/14 there was no answer on his cell phone. On 6/26/14 there was no answer on his cell phone. On 7/1/14 John answered and said he would call back in five minutes. Called back and said the crew would be here 728. On 7/2 it was raining and I called back to reschedule. John said they would be here 7/8/14. The next call I was told he woukld be here 7/15/14. I still have a water leak in my kitchen and told John I would complain to BBB if he did not live up to his guarantee. Can you help with this non-responsive and evasive contractor? In his comments responding, the contractor stated he was refunding our payment. As of 9/23/14, we have had no refund and still have a roof leak that the contractor guaranteed to repair.

+ 0 moreThey basically stuck a ladder up and looked at the gutters. They didn’t get up on the roof. They said they were going to come back and put an end cap on the gutter and seal a joint on the gutters. They also gave me an estimate for the roof and I’ve contacted them 2-3 times and no one has ever called me back. The price itself was good but they did not do what they were supposed to do.
Description of Work: The gutters were leaking in one area and I had a bit of a roof problem.

+ 1 moreI bought the gutter tune-up from River City Vinyl for $99. He was very fast to schedule an appointment, but never completed any actual work. He claimed to have come to the house and taken many pictures which he said he'd e-mail with recommendations. He finally agreed to meet me at the house last Saturday. I live 25 minutes from the house and told him I didn't want to drive all the way out there on a Saturday morning and have him a no show (based on past experience). He said he NEVER misses appointments. Saturday morning was quite rainy so I tried to call his cell to confirm. He didn't answer. I drove to the house. John Bell was nowhere to be found. I then called again. This time he answered and told me it was rainy so he didn't come. I asked him why he did not call me and he said he should have. I then told him he was a disaster and he hung up on me. I called back and he was cordial. He agreed to refund my $99 and said he'd still e-mail me the pictures and recommendations. Of course he has done neither. This has been a VERY bad experience. I saw another offer but am reluctant. At least until I get my money back.

+ -1 moreHe contacted me immediately after my coupon purchase, and came to check out the house. He returned a few days later with a ladder. Then he thoroughly walked the roof and took photos, which he said he would send.with an estimate on a roof. My husband said he did look in the gutters for standing water and adjusted one. He attributed the water problem on my deck to the shingles not overhanging the edge far enough. I never did see the photos he took, nor received an estimate. I presume that he realized we don't need a new roof yet, but I would have liked a message or call back to that effect.(That was the only reason that I didn't rate him as "A" for professionalism.) I think this coupon was over-priced, because I had another roofer do the same inspection for no charge, and actually received a written proposal from the second company, should we have an active leak. The coupon did give me an adjustment and a few rivets on a gutter and an opinion on the porch problem, but it wasn't $111 worth.

+ 0 moreThe only reason I went for this deal is I knew I had a leaky gutter and I wanted it fixed. My roof is only a year old and we have no trees overhanging our roofline. After numerous attempts at scheduling, the work was never performed. I'm going to chalk it up to bad timing. Owner initially came out, but it started raining, so the work couldn't be performed. There were several days of rain, so he got behind on his schedule (this work is weather dependent). I kept calling to see when / if someone had come out to perform the work (he said I didn't need to be present for them to complete the work although I was home most of the time). Owner returned my messages promptly, but the work was never done. He said he had to keep checking with his crew. At one point he said the work was supposedly done (according to his crew), but a couple days later, we had another good rain, and the one gutter joint which was really leaking (and which I had pointed out to the owner as my reason for buying the deal) was still really leaking. His girlfriend had just had a baby, but he said he would come out and fix it the following week when his girlfriend's parents would be there to help out. He was also supposed to inspect the job our previous roofers had done and take photos of our plumbing vent pipe (my husband wanted to make sure the birds were not nesting in it). I never received the photos and the one gutter joint still leaks. Overall, I probably made 7-10 different phone calls to try to get this work done, and I simply got tired of trying. I want to get a refund since the work was never completed.

+ -1 moreto get more done He did not replace the wood. We could see daylight! When we called, he came right back and fixed it. The problem seemed to be subbing out the job and then not checking on the subs to see what they dd. I think he is a bit short handed and trying to get more done than is possible. I believe he is a good honest man, just bit off more than he could chew comfortably!

+ -1 moreMy experience has not been good, not good at all. When I called him, he came out and it had rained that day and so he did not want to get on all of the roof because it was slippery, which was okay, then why come on that day. What he did, he looked at the gutters which were full, so he said well, the gutters are so full that I really can't tell anything anyway. You know, I had emailed prior to that to him and said that I wanted to know the price on cleaning gutters, to which he did not respond. And then you know logically I should have thought that through because, that's right if the gutters aren't cleaned out, how am I going to tell and of course we want the job of cleaning out the gutters. I don't fault him for that, but it is sort of a test 22. That I can't get my gutters inspected till I have paid him to clean them out. So that I should have thought that through. But the first thing to me is that I had said to him, that it's a condo, small condo building so the condo association has to say yes or no spending the money with him to clean out the gutters. But meanwhile I also had to pay to have the roof repaired too. And he said I'll take pictures of anything I see that looks funny or that I need to tell you back. But I never heard from him saying that . So he has not done any of that. So should I call him back probably but frankly I don't feel very good about him. I'll probably wouldn't use him again. So that's my feedback.

+ 0 moreHe repaired nailing in the roof and did a roof inspection, but he didn't re-nail any of the nails in the roof or gutter. He proceeded to take pictures and tell me that I needed a new roof. He was supposed to be repitching the gutter and caulking were part of the deal, but he didn't really do those for me. He didn't do what I specifically wanted to the deal for. It felt like he was just a roofer trying to sell me a new roof. He did come out on time and was very responsive.

We currently are going through bids to see which contractor we will select to do our hail repair. He provided a very basic service and the insurance adjuster corroborated what he said.

+ -1 moreHe came out and didn't even get on my roof. He said he didn't have the proper equipment to do my roof with him. He just walked around the house and told me I had roof hail damage from the ground. He spend most of the time while walking around my house complaining about how Angie's list takes half the money and he only get his half of the money if he does so many service calls. He said he would come back the next day but he never came back. I feel that I just wasted the $100 I spent on this big deal. I sent him multiple emails and phone messages with little response.. He told me he actually did come out and took pictures of my roof and I asked him to email me the pictures, he never has. Since then my claim period for my hail damage has passed and I missed the deadline as I waited on him to email my pictures. I don't know if he got overwhelmed by the response to the big deal, but I wasn't happy with his effort at all. Initially he was quick to respond calling me on a Sunday after I bought the deal on Thursday or Friday but that was where his professionalism ended. He arrived over 30 minutes late for the scheduled appointment and even though he lives close he never came back. I would not use them again.

+ 0 moreI signed up for the inspection on a Sunday nite. I was contacted by River City Vinyl the next day (Mon). Due to my schedule and some rain threat, the work was completed on Friday (6 days from the time I signed up for the deal). The owner (John Bell) did the inspection and most of the repair. He also gave me some detailed information on both my roof and gutter system on my house. A first for me, John actually called on the day we scheduled to do the inspection and asked if it was OK if he came an hour early (because of a chance of rain). River City Vinyl was prompt, professional and fair. I would not hesitate to call this provider.
Description of Work: Inspected gutters and roof. Caulked gutters where it was needed.
