Rawlings did an outstanding job at a fair price. I had the hardwood floors redone in a rental property. They were very helpful in advising the work that needed to be done and what was the most cost effective choice for investment property. They also advised how to care for the floors best. They were straight forward in pricing and, knowing I was getting other estimates, told me what to look for and what to ask others to determine if they knew what they were doing. When I mentioned one of their competitors, they told me they were very good. Ultimately I chose Rawlings and I’m very pleased.

I cannot give enough compliments about Dave and Gary. This is the 2nd house of mine Dave has refinished. The first house was a whole house refinish, including stairs (3,000 sq ft). He also had to replace and repair several areas of patched flooring (which we discovered after removing carpet) and matched it perfectly. After seeing the workmanship on my first house, my sister and friend had him refinish their entire homes and were very pleased. On my second house, they refinished a sunroom, stairs, and matched a stain to the original flooring (which was spot on. We seriously cannot see where the old finish meets the new!!) As far as price and quality, they simply cannot be beat. I can't say that Dave returns calls because I've NEVER had to leave a message--he answers the phone every time I call! Gary was our refinisher and has kept us informed and in the loop about what he was doing and the time frame EVERY SINGLE DAY. He is extremely conscientious and respectful of our home, pets, and children. He shows up on time (to the minute) AND locks the door on his way out. Seriously, I'm just blown away. It really doesn't get better than this. I am in the midst of bathroom remodeling as well and I only wish the contractors were 1/10th as good as Rawlings!

I had called several other companies in the area to get quotes for refinishing, but everyone gave me the run around. Dave was very professional and always returned my calls promptly. He was able to fit me in to their schedule very quickly. I recently purchased my home and tore up the carpet which covered the first floor living area (living room, dining room, 3 bedrooms). The hardwood underneath was in extremely bad shape. It had many spots from pet stains and high traffic. A lot of boards were warped or not salvagable. Dave and his team were able to make them look as good as new. His team even built a new threshold into the kitchen for no additional charge. There were many spots and boards that needed to be replaced, and Dave gave me a very reasonable price for the additional work and materials. (It is included in the total $2,450 above). The work was completed on time with no issues. I wish I could share the before and after pictures, you would not believe it is the same floor.

Due to the set up of my condo I was unable to be there during the refinish. I left the subcontractor a set of my house keys to complete the job. He did a great job on my living room and dining room area. However, he left residue of polyurethane in the doorways and droppings in the adjoining rooms that had pre-finished wood. I mentioned it when Dave came to inspect and collect the balance of the money (1000 was already made out directly to Tom). Dave immediately denied the damages. I had to go through the BBB to remediate the situation. He continued to deny the damages and say it was already there. In the end, a month later, I had another company come out to do a buff and coat. He only charged me 350. Apparently it was a simple fix. I sent Dave the balance of 150. Most stressful situation I ever had to go through with a contractor. Moral of the story, please do not leave any contractor or subcontractor alone in your home. Just in case keep before, during, and after pictures. Mistakes happen, we are all human. Irregardless, the way he responded to me alone in my house and refused to have his crew come back to fix their mess was completely unacceptable. Glad the situation is resolved and over, but I will never do business with him again and definitely would not refer him to anyone else.

I call the owner and setup the appointment quick. The price is reasonable and the whole process was very smooth. I will use them again and will recommend to friends.

My floors look beautiful. They are very honest and forthright in what I should realistically expect these floors to look like in the end. They communicated well and followed up on issues that needed to be resolved after the floors were completed.

Dave Rawlings is proud of his reputation as the best in the business and it's well deserved. Seven months later, these floors are still the most beautiful thing in our home. Dave came out to give the estimate for refinishing the floors that were there and he said he could have it done in time for me to oversee a move before school started mid-August. It was going to be tight anyway, but when I called back and wanted new floors instead of refinishing, he said he could still make the deadline, because he'd given me his word. I also needed a carpenter to raise the banister so they could lay the floors, which he set up so I didn't have to hire someone separately. This was a huge help and the carpenter did great work. All of the men who came out to lay and eventually finish the floor were completely professional and did perfect work. Dave was very responsive via phone, but it was a challenge because I was having problems with my cell phone and he doesn't email. This made communication difficult, but the fault was more mine since I was having phone issues. Dave and his men take great pride in their work, and if he makes you a promise, he will keep it. My only advice would be to research hardwood flooring on your own first, because Dave did not like to explain the various options, perhaps because he was under extreme pressure to meet the deadlines he'd promised or because he just didn't have the patience. He's a character, for sure, and definitely the highest value in Louisville for hardwood floors. I highly recommend this company!

The entire process was conducted with flawless execution. The owner personally came and quoted within 24 hours of initial call. The team that actually did work, led by Tom, was knowledgeable, prompt, polite, and the attention to detail was amazing. The process takes about 4-5 days with the multiple coats, but the results are amazing. The Rawlings team met and really exceeded my expectations. First class operation.

So glad we picked Rawling's flooring to complete this work. Many people told me that the floors could not be saved. They had been covered by carpet for 40 years and had hundreds of large head nails driven in them. Some of the area's had no flooring and plywood was down to make floor even. Carpet pads had to be scraped off the hardwood which probably happened due to cleaning carpets over the years. The workers were fabulous! So polite and very, very knowledgeable. They began by removing old wood in sections and replacing with new. They then sanded all floors. The workers went to every extent to keep the house clean during this process. Then they began the finishing coats. This was done over several days to allow each coat to thoroughly dry. The finished product was fabulous! This work was done on my mother's home as I was moving her to assisted living. I put a for sale by owner sign up in the yard while work was being done and sold the house immediately for much more than even a realtor had expected. I credit this success to Rawlings Flooring! The new owner was also very impressed with this flooring company. He asked if we could have them continue upstairs and he would pay that part. I agreed to letting him do this, even tho we had not closed on the home. The new owner has used many wood refinishing companies in the past he said, but commented that none had done such a great job as Rawlings. He said he will continue using them in the homes he buys. Thank you Rawlings for such a great and professional job!

He is the best! They are sanding and staining the floors. They will then apply 3 coats of polyurethane. Dave is a great guy! He will be honest with you and told me a couple of the rooms didn’t even need to be re-done. He has a great crew and I don’t hesitate to leave them in the home. I don’t have to worry about their honesty. They are super professionals and they don’t leave anything undone. They clean up everything and they are not messy at all.
