You wrote a review for Pella Window & Door Showroom of Louisville One minute ago 1.0 star rating 12/7/2017 In all honesty, one star may be too generous. Our house was built in 2005 installed with 20 new Pella windows. My husband and I moved in 2015 and were very impressed with our new windows...for awhile. After a few months, several of the windows would only open so far or not at all, and one of the windows had a broken seal, prompting a call to the Pella of Louisville. In short, I was told that I would have to pay $75 dollars for a tech to evaluate the problem, as well as a 4 hour window of time (pun intended). The tech arrived at my home and after a few minutes of evaluating the issues, he tells me the seal will be replaced under warranty and the hardware on 2 windows will be replaced at our expense, but the other 11/22 windows are due to settling/brick pinch and nothing can be done. FURTHER, it will be $150 ($75 x2) for the techs to come out and replace the hardware and window seal, with another 4 hour time commitment. Reluctantly, we had it done, but the window with the new seal was still inoperable. However, upon reaching out to Pella custmoer service, the buck was again passed and nothing was done to purported "brick pinch". Throughout the 2 years, now only 3/20 windows will open and one of those only to a point, 1 window is visibly rotted, and the rest will NOT OPEN. Not being prepared for the expense, we lived with it for awhile, internally and externally lamenting the "Pella Effect" or the previous home owner's decision to utilize Pella. Fast forward, to a week ago (November/December 2017), as we have been exasperated with our inoperable windows during this unseasonably beautiful weather, we had different companies out for an estimate on new windows. 2/3 of the big name companies (Anderson/Marvin) seriously questioned the settling/brick pinch allegation and stated that they make their living/replace many replacing Pella windows around this early to mid 2000 time period, and all of their customers receive the same settling spiel, which is highly questionable. Further, they warranty their installation for 20 years to a lifetime and don't charge any fee for service while under the warranty period. My experience with Pella has been negative, but I've heard some of their products are solid, however understand that their warranty and customer service are substandard ($75 dollars/4 hour window). If anyone is aware of a class action lawsuit regarding the early 2000 to mid 2000 windows, I would be happy to join. Thanks for you time. Buyer BEWARE!

Terrible. The decision was made to spend 3 days instead of 4 of labor to install our windows and door. Mud was left on our carpets, 4 windows were misinstalled and had to be removed and redone, a total casement window indoor frame that was ordered in the wrong size, and the outside door window cap was missing. Below is my email list of items to Pella to fix/replace or address. Upon working on these items it was determined that a "service team" would have to evaluate window and sash defects. They stated the earliest that could occur would be December 4th. Mind you the installation was completed Oct, 12th, and we had to wait until today Nov. 3rd to have the missing or incorrectly ordered items installed, and now we are expected to wait until Dec. 4th to determine what they will have to do to correct manufacturing defects. AND they are not offering any refund for the inconveniences of having to take an additional day off from work due to this, and there are issues with the work performed the 3rd we have to further discuss. Below is the list of items that were asked to be addressed the 3rd in an email sent 10-31-17: Front door trim Front door adjustment on latch - it does not always catch to keep the door shut Front door locking mechanism needs adjusting - very tight and catches Front door drywall cracks from installation fixed and smoothed for painting interior Front door outside trim Front door finished and shims not visible Front door door stop reinstalled to keep it from hitting the door behind it (satin nickel finish) Front window interior installation due to misordered size parts and tape or glue removed from right side window that streaks the full length, and caulk removed out of window screen Top window on front window cleaned from streaks to insure they are not scratches Kitchen window sill finished cleaning from spray that left black spots all over it All window frames interior cleaned and black streaks/marks removed Especially the garage window inside Misaligned trims on outside of windows either fixed or replacement window casings put in. Pictures of 3 have already been sent to you. Carpet cleaning will be paid by Pella after install is done as promised by Jerry Tobe Sod on left side of driveway where your truck damaged/rutted my lawn installed Sticker removed the rest of the way off the basement window. Caulk removed from back bedroom window that was not there before recaulk Verify ALL outdoor windows are caulked fully and smoothly All windows keyed in for warranty record And as I did with corporate to FINALLY get a response I want your direct boss's contact information, please. I did email you at 1:39 this afternoon that we would be available for a walk-through Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening. And a the amount of refund due to us for having to spend the time (AND take additional time off work) and inconvenience for me to document/fix the shoddy work performed and not completed by your crew in the scheduled time frame. Largely, in my opinion, due to them reducing the labor allocated to our project by 25% to complete another project. AND then calling me at 4:39 to insure that I would soon be there so that they could leave, and collect a payment which he stated could be reduced by $1200.00 for the work not yet completed due to misordered and not ordered items. In addition it is documented with your corporate that it took 3 attempts on their part to solicit a response to my concerns from the Louisville office. Please let me know if you have any questions,

It took 2 tries to get someone out to give estimate. Then waited 6 weeks for install. They called an hour before they were scheduled to come out to change the installation date due to project they were at. Had to adjust schedule to accommodate new installation time. They arrived the next morning and installed the door. Overall we are satisfied.

Went to their local facility to get a quote on windows for an entire house. The employee there on that Saturday was all about the upsell and even went so far as to say their 250 series windows weren't any good and that I should get at least the 350 series and possibly their fiberglass model. I decided to instead just leave and call back the next week to just get a price over the phone, I left a message with someone as apparently they are always too busy to talk at the time, but never got a call back. It is unfortunate the the direct representatives of Pella are this bad as growing up in Iowa I would prefer to use Pella, but after the conversation in store and their lack of response it was hard to justify. I went down the street a little farther and talked with the Anderson people instead and they were much more helpful.
Description of Work: Tried to get quote for an entire house. They were disrespectful and not helpful.

They installed 6 new windows in our home. It has been extremely cold here recently, as in most of the U.S, and the windows are accumulating condensation. Where you have condensation over time, it can rot your window sill. When it warms up the condensation will dissipate but water remains in the groove of the window frame itself. I have called Pella and they said it would cost $75 to come out and look at the problem. I thought I had a lifetime warranty. They said they put me on a "call list" and would be out to look at the situation on February 6th. However, the temperature will probably be warmed up by then and the problem may not be present for the Pella representative to assess. I would not recommend Pella windows. I wish I had my old windows back.

They replaced all the windows altogether and it was about $40,000. The actual installer did a great job, he was very meticulous about his work and he's a good guy all around. I think there are subcontractor that do their installation for him but I thought he was great. The bad part is when they measured for our windows, how they entered them in the computer, they got manufactured wrong so when they delivered all the windows to our house to install them, they realized that they were all the wrong size so they had to send them back and make more so we had to wait another 6 weeks to get the new windows back in.

We purchaled replacement windows for our house through Pella. They were installed by a contractor. The sales person at Pella came to our house with the contractor to measure the windows and provide a cost estimate for both the windows and the labor for installation. The Pella sales person was very helpful in helping us pick out the proper windows that we needed. The windows arrived exactly as we ordered in the time frames promised. The windows made a dramatic improvement in the appearance of our home. The Pella sales person showed up on the day of installation with the contractor to make sure we got what we ordered. I was impressed since it has been my experience with sales people that you are quickly forgotten once the sale has been made.

Two man crew arrived when they said they would. Went right to work. covered floors on inside. Had old door out and new door in within 15 mins. Total job took only three hours. They cleaned up well even vacuuming the front foyer. When done we did not have to touch up woodwork or wall around door. Gentleman very polite. Really did a wonderful job.

My experience with them was pretty good. They did make a mistake by putting one window in backwards, but they came back and fixed that; it took them quite a while to get back to me though. The quality of the product and the installation were good. It was kind of mid range in terms of the price; it was certainly not cheap but was not as expensive as some of the others that I looked at. I would suggest that when they replace windows, they make a drawing of which way the windows open and make sure that they replace them the same way. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

Pella has done window work for us on several occasions during recent years. The quality of the product and professionalism or the workers is greatly appreciated. We will not hesitate to purchase their product again if the need arises.
Description of Work: A casement was replaced on an original Pella window installed in our sunporch approximately 20 years ago. About 15 windows were installed at that time and all have retained their beauty. In addition, we had two basement windows replaced with sliding windows. The overall results are attractive and greatly enhance the location.

Everything was good except for some minor issues with some of the wood sills that were bowed. The quality of the window itself is excellent and it has a great reputation. It is good for resale value. The only downside was that some of the wood they used for the sills was bowed and they had to come out and replace. I still have one minor issue that I am just going to take care of myself.

I decided to go with them because I bought two doors previously for my other house, and it is still very reliable. I had no problems with it. The things that stand out the most were the quality of their workmanship, stability with the locking system and the doors that I have in my house for 20 years, has held up very well. They maybe a little more in the price; but the manufacturing of the doors and the windows are excellent. They have a good service warranty. I scheduled an appointment with them to have a look at one of my doors. They came right back and solved the problem quickly.

I am very please with the windows and am much more comfortable not having to worry about leaks. The sound insulation is much better than the old too. They were sealed and caulked all the way around, inside and out. I think I'll be very happy.
Description of Work: I bought a new house in July of 2010. The original all wood windows had serious rot issues and a number of fogged panes. I spoke with three other window companies and decided on Pella. I spoke with Jeff Moffit, he discussed all options and types of windows. He was glad to answer any questions. Informed me of all the tax credits available. I was also able to get 3 years interest free financing through Wells-Fargo. I decided on 3 ProLine and 12 Encompass windows. There were two rounds of measurements to make sure all windows were the correct size. Everyone was on time and professional. The installers were done in their projected two days. All windows were the correct size, type and color. Installation was done in a clean manner. I found very few pieces of debris after the job was done. I inspected all windows before the finish trim was installed, checking for errors/issues. The only issue I have had is that one sash is sticking because of a broken cable in the window. This is being replaced at no cost.

No one showed for the appointment or called to cancel. All my other windows are Pella and I wanted to replace a bay window with a Pella. Renewal by Anderson is doing the work. They were very responsive.

They did not do exactly what they said they were going to do. They were not very responsive or professional. We were not happy with their service and probably wouldn't use them again in the future.

Good experience. A sales person came to our house to get all the necessary measurements and fill out the order forms. He scheduled a service date. The service date got pushed back because of other projects running long, so we had to reschedule it at a later date. The installers were quick and clean. They finished everything at a very high quality level and cleaned the area. They finished everything much faster than I expected.
