I was contacted by the company after emailing through this list. We arranged an estimate, and the owner arrived on time, took 25 minutes, and gave me a written estimate. I accepted, they came and did the work, and I am more than satisfied.
Description of Work: Excellent work, with friendly, conscientious communication. Very quick to finish. I would use them any time again. They repaired a kitchen ceiling, some drywall on a corner, painted the entire ceiling and repaired another crack in a high ceiling in another room. Clean working folks--there was no dust.

WOW !!! These guys were fantastic. They showed up exactly when they said they would, they did exactly what they said they would, and they charged us exactly what they said they would. They were professional, personable, and respectful. They performed the exact painting we had asked for, and they cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned up afterward. We now have painters for life! Again - WOW !!!

After having a great experience with Skip and his team on a 2nd property we own, we asked him to paint the Great Room of our own home. The challenge was that the room has floor to ceiling cabinets on three walls, and they had been stained dark and then varnished. We wanted to brighten the room to modernize it, and give it a lighter feel. Skip's thought it would take 4-5 days, and he was exactly right. They did a fantastic job, finishing on schedule just before Christmas. Everyone of our guests over the holidays said "wow", which is exactly how we still feel walking into the room. The quality of their work is great, they are friendly, neat, and timely each day (they promise to arrive at 8:00am each day - and were spot on every day). We highly recommend Skip & Robin and the great team they have working with them.

Everything Skip and his team did was fantastic. They were on-time each day, friendly, very neat, and the work was the highest quality we've ever seen in painters. Skip was there in person at least a portion of every day, and often the entire day. At the end of each day, everything was neatly put away. Their work on removing the wall paper was especially impressive, as it was not the type that could be easily removed. Skip was especially attentive to our timing deadlines, and made sure he and his team finished exactly on time, as promised. We highly recommend Skip, his wife Robin, and their team for your painting needs!!
Description of Work: Skip and his fantastic team painted the entire interior of a 1,600 sq' condo that had not been painted in about 30 years. Their work included taking off a couple layers of wall paper in the bathroom, as well as other wall paper in the entry way. All trim and closet interiors were also painted. The team also had time constraints, as my parents were moving into the condo on a specific date that could not be moved.

Robin and Skip came to our home and gave us a estimate to paint the walls in (4) rooms, a bath and dressing area, repair and paint cellings. The estimate, while not the lowest, was very reasonable and we liked the interaction we had with them. There was some time between the estimate due to us having a new door installed and our vacation. They were very patient waiting for us to get in order for the work to begin. Once we picked our paint colors, and scheduled our work, I asked Robin what we needed to do to prepare for their arrival. She said nothing, which I was suprised. I thought we would have to move everything and do some kind of prep. But nothing was required. We did try to move small things and clean some things for them. They arrived on Monday at the time the told me (actually every morning they were outside a little before 8, but did not come to the door until 8, which was nice. Not early, Not late!). The team (4 painters and Skip) came in, they ask us where to start, I liked this also, that we could say where to start, not what they wanted! They jumped in and moved items around, big, small and in-between. Next they started the prep work, they repaired the holes, covered floors and furniture, then began to paint. They painted the majority of our interior, including our textured ceilings, and where our home has settled, they repaired the cracks, I can't remember where the crack were now. In addition to the exceptional work, they were really fast. They were all friendly and worked almost continually for 4 days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up (vacumed my floors!) and moved items back in place. I really missed them on the 5th day, it was amazing how on the first day, how comfortable we felt with them in our home. Our home feels new and clean. I cannot stress how much I highly recommend them, and if we need anything that they offer in their services, we will definetly call Painting the Town!

I turned to Robin and Skip based on the great reviews they have consistently had on Angie's List and I wasn't disappointed! They promptly responded to my request for an estimate and were able to start work within 2-3 weeks of my acceptance of their proposal. As have many others, I added on to the work I wanted done after I saw the quality of their workmanship. Overall, the job took roughly 11 8-hour days with a crew of 2-4 (and usually at least 3) men working at a time. The majority of that time was spent on the absolutely meticulous prep that was performed in all areas. Inadequate and incomplete attempts to repair the water-damaged ceiling areas had been made by earlier work-men--to the point where I had almost given up on ever getting them fixed so that the damaged area didn't stick out like a sore thumb. Skip and his crew, however, have them looking like new for the first time in years! Skip and all members of his crew were a pleasure to have in the house--friendly, polite, considerate and trustworthy. They were very neat and cleaned up after each day's work--despite the extensive work I have spotted nary a drip or smear. Equipment which vacuumed up drywall dust as an area was sanded was used, making this potentially messy job much cleaner. It was clear the most important thing to Robin and Skip, as well as to the members of the crew, was that I was happy with the end result--the repainting of 2 of the rooms which had already been completed (due to my change of mind on colors) was cheerfully undertaken without at all making me feel like an idiot! You get real value for your money with this company--I plan to have them come back in the spring to paint my home's exterior and am actually looking forward to it!
Description of Work: Repainted (including all trim and ceilings) 4 bedrooms, removed wallpaper, prepped and repainted a 5th bedroom. Trim in 2 of the bedrooms included built-in bookcases and window-seats, and crown molding in 1 bedroom. Careful repair and prep of all areas to be painted. Painted the trim in 2 additional rooms, including built-in cabinetry, and upstairs hallway. All trim painting included doors. Repaired and repainted 3 separate ceiling areas which had had water damage--including a hard-to-reach area over a stairwell. All areas were double-coated at a minimum; some areas were triple-coated for complete coverage. Price also included the re-repainting of 2 of the bedrooms when I wasn't happy with the way the colors I had chosen looked on the walls. All paint and supplies were included in the price.

The entire experience from quote to job completion was pleasant and without issue. Skip arrived for the quote on time and in painters attire, and works each job with his crew. He doesnt quote jobs and sub them to the lowest bidder, he and his crew work diligently day in and day out doing what they do best, beautifying homes! We scheduled the work with Robin, Skips attentive wife who runs the back office at Painting the Town. She is email savvy, and responds to messages at all hours of the day and night, to include weekends. The guys were scheduled to start at 8am, and were on time or early every single day. its rare to see a contractor this punctual, but we found it with Skip and his crew. The work started out in various areas of the home, some guys painting trim and walls, while others identifying various nail pops and settling cracks that needed attention prior to painting. NOTE - Skip and his guys do NOT just quickly spackle in cracks or nail pops. Rather, they take the time to actually dig out, tape, and mud these issues so they do not reappear 3 months after the job is completed. This level of attention to detail blew my mind, and paid dividends in the end with flawless walls, no cracks, and an expert paint job that should last for some time. Another note, I was simply amazed at how Skip and his guys produce razor sharp edges between trim color and wall color, and wall color and ceiling color, all without the use of painting tape. These guys edge by hand, and are really darn good at what they do. Part way through the job, we threw Skip and his crew a curveball by moving in ahead of schedule! They took this in stride, gave us a few days to get into the property, and returned ready to knock out the job while avoiding our belongings. These guys were extra careful in my home, covering everything and anything with drop cloths to ensure our floor or belongings didnt catch a stray drop of paint. They treated my home as if it was their own, ensuring they didnt mark the hardwood flooring, walls or damage any furniture. The experience with the exterior work was no different. Skip and his crew arrived like clockwork every day at 8am or before, and put in multiple full days of stripping, sanding, scraping and painting the exterior pieces of the home that needed attention. Skip had a mission - he was going to revive a set of mahogany doors that were severely damaged by abuse from the sun. Skip stripped, sanded, prepped, stained and varnished this door and made them look like new. The before and after photos of this door are absolutely shocking, since I was fully expecting this door to be unsalvageable. Skip, Robin, Robert, Bill and the rest of Skips team are all fantastic, and were an absolute pleasure to deal with! The guys are friendly, punctual craftsmen who really focus on attention to detail, and doing the job right the first time.
Description of Work: Skip and his team performed both exterior and interior work across two different jobs at our property. For the exterior work, we had our front door stripped, sanded, stained and varnished, had damaged wood on the exterior of the home replaced and painted, and a window/door set painted. For the interior work, we had ceilings and walls prepped and painted, trim painted, and cracks in some drywall repaired.

In short, our experience was great. Skip and Robin are both wonderful. Bill and the rest of the guys were very friendly and accommodating. Our house is rather old, and turned out to be full of challenges: previously painted over wall paper, uneven plaster, etc., all of which they took in stride. Most impressive to us was their attention to detail: the painting is impeccable; they evened out wavy portions of the walls, filling cracks and holes; they cleaned our gutters out for no fee; and, they cleaned and replaced brass handles that had been painted over years ago, to name just a few examples. When we walked around with Skip near the end, he was the one identifying all of the loose ends that needed to be tied up! We would definitely hire them again. In fact, given the quality of the work, I wouldn't consider painting anything ourselves again.
Description of Work: The interior work included wallpaper removal, wall repair and painting (ceiling, walls, and trim) in a bedroom and a hallway, wall and ceiling repair and painting in a bathroom, and ceiling repair and painting in a living room. Exterior work included scraping and painting of all of the trim, windows, and front and garage doors (all were lead paint).

Wonderfully! We were on a really tight schedule - wanting to get the painting finished before we moved into our new home. They worked with our schedule and got everything finished right away. The end job just looks lovely. They even touched up some of the trim. We got an estimate for some deck work, as well, and may be using them later. The price was a bit more than some, but the end product is really well worth it. Plus, everyone was just really lovely to work with. Great company!

Thank you for your report, we enjoyed meeting you both. We are usually very competitive in our pricing. Please understand that there was extensive prep work that needed to be done properly which is time consuming. We only use top quality materials and do not cut corners anywhere. We had higher labor fees than usual to allow for paying our crew an extra hour and a half per day per man in travel time. We understand your feelings and appreciate your input, thank you!

The estimate was scheduled right away after calling and speaking with Robin. In addition to the estimate, Robin and Skip provided great advice regarding color selection and type of paint for the areas. I had some rough ideas. Robin and Skip were able to bring them together into something wonderful. The actual job was scheduled sooner than I had expected, which was great. While waiting for the job to start, I corresponded via email and phone with Robin regularly. She was incredibly patient with all my questions and provided many helpful suggestions. The initial estimate was 3.5 days. At the end of the first day, I came home to find that virtually all the painting was completed. A few touch-ups and my handyman requests were finished by noon of the second day. I only moved a few fragile items beforehand. All my furniture was placed back in the correct locations and what belongings they did move were stacked neatly and carefully. The crew took care of everything. All the areas were clean and tidy. I am overwhelmed at the difference the work made. I feel as though I moved into a new home. Skip and his crew care deeply about producing a quality result. Their attention to detail is outstanding. They went above and beyond what was asked. My friends and neighbors have all raved about how gorgeous my home looks. Even if I had not hired this company, I feel fortunate to have met Robin and Skip. They are truly wonderful people. I had no reservations about having the job done while I was at work. They are friendly and kind. I know that I will be hiring them again in the future. It's been several days and I still look around with amazement at how beautiful everything is.

Our experience with Painting The Town was absolutely delightful. If you're reading this, you are probably searching for a painter. Let me just save you some time - THESE ARE THE PEOPLE YOU WANT TO HIRE! I called Painting The Town after seeing the glowing reviews on Angie's List. I hired them due to the wonderful impression I had during our initial contact (phone and e-mail) and the on-site estimate. It was an excellent decision. Their unparalleled customer service begins as soon as you contact the company for an estimate. Robin takes care of setting up the appointments, and within two phone calls I felt as if I'd know her all my life. She is lovely to talk to, friendly, efficient and has an excellent sense of the impact a home-improvement project has on one's life, family and home. Skip, Robin's husband, is the one who looks at the project, assembles the information for the estimate, and ultimately does the work. I immediately felt comfortable with Skip; he is genuinely kind, friendly and has an excellent grasp of what the customer wishes to accomplish. I have never dealt with a team of individuals as conscientious as Skip and his crew. They are so pleasant that I looked forward to their arrival each day. (And their punctuality could give the Swiss trains a run for the money). I also felt entirely comfortable having them in my home - whether I was on my own with them at the house or had to leave for an errand. It is important to feel one can trust service providers - heretofore strangers - coming to one's home. My thoughts are best expressed like this - were I in possession of the crown jewels I could have left them out with nary a second thought. More than just painters, these gentlemen are truly craftsmen. We have an older home that presents unique challenges for painting - combed plaster, interesting wood work, multiple coats of existing paint in areas - and they managed to make each surface look beautiful! In addition, the paint for the dining room is a faux finish that requires a two-part process. Skip's work there rivals anything I've seen in any glossy, home decor publication. As they finished each part of this project, Skip and his crew made sure I was perfectly satisfied before moving onto the next phase. They also took care of moving, replacing and cleaning up everything. I believe that they left my house cleaner than they found it each day! There are a couple of other things that really stand out for me. One is a stair-rail post, that was newly painted, upon which I tossed a fleece jacket (out of habit). This incident ruined the finish. Fixing my error required two separate trips to sand and repaint the post. This was clearly my fault, and Skip did not charge me one extra penny. Second, part of the soffit and fascia in the front and back of our house had some existing hardware that was not needed; the removal of the hardware was going to leave a number of holes and would require replacement of these pieces. Skip saved us several hundred dollars by simply filling the holes with a bonding agent and painting the area. The result is perfect - one can't tell where the holes once were. In closing, I'd like to say that I hired Painting The Town in the course of an extensive, six-moth home renovation project (part of which was an insurance claim). During that time I dealt with demolitions crews, basement water-proofers, roofers, plumbers, electricians, contractors, project managers, carpenters, siding/gutter teams as well as other painters. Most of those individuals were pleasant and did a good job. However, this was a very, very stressful period. Each day that Skip and his crew were here, they managed to bring my stress level from way up in the stratosphere back down to earth. They set the bar (and it is a high one) for excellent customer service and quality of work. Not only will I hire them again, I look forward to it!
Description of Work: They painted the following: Interior - walls, windows and trim in a bedroom; walls and front door in entry hall; walls and all doors (four) in upstairs hallway; kickplates, spindles, bannister and posts on stairs/stairwell; dining-room ceiling, walls, trim and windows; trim and windows in kitchen, trim and door in half-bath; trim, windows and repair to walls in full bath. Exterior - front door; removed un-needed hardware in soffit and fascia, patched and painted holes.

In one word --WONDERFULL--These people are true professionals. From the start of the job (it took 4 days) to the end Skip, Bill, and Robert showed up promptly every day. They were extremely cordial. They took great care in making sure that every last thing was done in a superior manner. They went the extra mile to make sure that we were satisfied with every detail. All work was carefully scrutinized to be sure it was done just right.Mar and I were very satisfied. We know who to call if we ever need any painting work done. We would surely recommend this Co. to anyone who needs painting done, When they left, the rooms were cleaned to the point that one would not have known they had been there.
Description of Work: Promptly submitted estimate of work to be done. The estimate detailed the painting of the great room, hallway, upper hallway, entrance hall. Repair work entailed extensive joint tape repair and caulking of all mentioned rooms plus the dining room, kitchen, and room off the kitchen. The estimate was very detailed as to all the work to be done.

Skip and Robin instantly felt like friends rather than a contractor hired to do a job. They genuinely care for their customers and treat them like family. The day of the job, Skip and two other guys showed up on time (even a bit early). They spent time making sure that everything was covered and moved from the area. It was obvious that they take great pride in their work and nothing was hastily done. I work from home and was in my office the entire day they worked. The crew was courteous, respectful and even went above and beyond to get my trim paint out of the storage room and touch up a previous owner's "opps". They vacuumed and cleaned everything and moved all furniture back. What struck me most besides the fantastic paint job was they way they folded all their drop cloths and cleaned their equipment when they were finished. It was clear that for these guys - they are serious and care about what they do and, like an artist - leave a lasting impression with their work. Thanks Painting the Town for the great work and positive experience!
Description of Work: Wonderful husband and wife owned company quoted interior painting of foyer, hall, great room, stairway and upstairs hallway (no trim). Gave expert opinion on colors and recommended we get the sample container from Sherwin Williams for $5 to be sure we liked the color in different lights. We sampled the colors and decided they were perfect. Although our work wasn't scheduled until next week, they had an opening and asked if we wanted to move it up. We were thrilled to have such a large area completed in one day with such expert precision!

They're here everyday when they say they'll be here and I haven't had any trouble. It's there fifth day here now and it's usually about three guys doing it. They do nice work and they usually prep ahead of time. They always try to put everything back as best as possible and they're considerate of the fact that we live here. They're very easy to get along with and they do good, quality work. I feel like they're reputable and I don't have to worry about things.
Description of Work: They're painting two bedrooms, one large high ceiling living room, a hallway, a ceiling in another room, and they're doing damage repair in another room.

I had an A+ experience. I met both Robin and Skip who are truly warm folks. They are the type of people you want to invite inside your home. Skip and his team put forth spectacular, meticulous workmanship for us. We were very pleased with the total job and will use their services again in the future for our remodel. The only tiny complaint I made about a bathroom door was corrected immediately without the first argument. Skip was very attentive to my various specific requests regarding the work, he took excellent care of our home not leaving a mess behind, and was respectful of my concerns regarding off-gasing due to my pregnancy. They showed up when they said and were out when we needed our space! He even offered to let out our dog for play and potty time while we were away at work. I can't say enough good things about this outfit. They are a dream come true especially if you are remodeling. It is nearly impossible to find dependable, trustworthy people from start to finish like these guys.
Description of Work: Full prep and paint for kitchen, dining, living room, foyer, stairwell, hall, half bath and full bath. Faux detail work in foyer and stairwell. Stain and polyurethane for interior base trim and crown molding.

Absolutely amazing. Just like the other reviews, they always stood true to their word. They were exceptional professionals ? the best contractor we?ve ever hired. We found them to be very efficient and hard-working, courteous, on-time, friendly, very understanding, patient and trustworthy. We were always comfortable with them in our home. As promised, they said they?d arrive at 8am and they were right on-time every day. They graciously accommodated our requests; for example we asked for rooms to be completed in a specific order so that we could move things in quicker. All the trim and edges are sharp and look great. We are very pleased with the quality. While they were painting other rooms we were moving phone jacks and changing fixtures. We needed them to patch the holes we made in the drywall which they did effortlessly. Skip also helped hang our new light fixtures and bathroom hardware. He did a stellar job with the faux finish in our bathroom. We can?t wait to have them back for our next project!
Description of Work: Just moved-in so we had the interior painted. They paid careful attention to details noticing many places of the drywall that other painting estimates missed! We also had them help with patching some holes in the drywall, repairing stress cracks and replacing bathroom fixtures too. Skip suggested a faux finish in the bathroom and it turned out gorgeous.
