This is a young guy but he really takes pride in his work. The finished product is fantastic. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when I'm doing something myself and still it was difficult to find fault with anything he did, especially the tile work. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted and how we wanted to lay it out and that was a good match in this case. Nick is pretty quiet and relatively reserved. He offered helpful suggestions along the way and pretty much just did what we asked and did it well. If forced to nit pick it would be the job took a little longer than we hoped. About 7 weeks but the bad weather didn't help. Cabinets and granite delayed completion and then near the end we encounted a problem with a special order Delta tub faucet that leaked. (This was not the remodeler's fault!) Delta tried to address the issue by suggesting and sending replacement parts (about a week delay with each request). It ended up being a defective faucet housing so they finally sent a replacement faucet. This was aggravating enough that I may never purchase Delta again. Their lifetime warranty sounds good until you consider the potential cost you could incur to remove and re-install a faulty product. In summary, this contractor did an outstanding job on a challenging project. It was all worth the wait.

WOW. Our bathroom was completely gutted. Our shower was expanded by taking the pantry out of the kitchen. Ceiling, walls and floor were installed. a light was installed in the shower area. We had subway tile installed all around the bathroom, two nooks were installed in the shower. An exhaust fan was installed, along with a medicine cabinet, and a light, electricity was rewired and a new vanity and toilet were installed along with a large cabinet for towels, sheet and toiletries. The kitchen remodel consisted of a new backsplash, granite counter tops, a sink, a garbage disposal. Also a cabinet pantry along with a larger cabinet over our refrigerator. Cabinets were matched perfectly with existing cabinets. Nick was very easy to work with. He called when he had questions. He was finished with the remodel close to what he had promised. We are very happy with his work. We have another bathroom to remodel and we will use him when we are ready.

Nick's Remodeling did a terrific job renovating our bathroom. Every employee worked in a professional, quality manner. He provided the vanity, sink and miscellaneous materials. Again, a professional job completed in the time they promised. | |I will use Nick's Remodeling again.
Description of Work: They removed and replaced a ceramic tile floor, removed the old vanity, sink, toilet and light fixtures and replaced them with new ones. They also removed wallpaper and painted the walls. |They also painted over the paneling on our basement walls -- primer and two coats.

I was satisfied with the amount of work done, but was a little disappointed in the value of the Big Deal. Since they arrived after 9:30 and left at about 4:30, taking about an hour for lunch, I don't feel like I really got two painters for an entire day. They did get a lot done, however. As far as professionalism, I had to contact Nick three separate times before he finally responded (this was over a period of about two weeks). He had quickly responded when I purchased the deal, but I was waiting on another project to get completed first. When he did respond, we talked briefly over the phone and arranged a time for them to come out the next day.
Description of Work: I ordered the Big Deal for two interior painters for a day. They were able to paint a ceiling, a small bathroom (two coats, plus one coat of trim and the door) and one closet door with two coats, and one coat on another closet door. They also repaired a few small areas before painting.

They're okay. There were some things I wasn't happy with. It was more with Angie's List than them. When I bought the coupon, it said that they came out and took a look at things, provide feedback such as how much paint they need before they painted. They didn't do that. I had to talk to them over the phone and tell them what they were going to do. They just came out in one day. The painter also said that it was sixteen hours of painting and the trip over and back was included. It was two painters in one day. They didn't paint as long as I wanted. They did a pretty good job. They may have missed a few things on the stairway that I had to go back over and paint. They got a decent of amount of painting done and did a pretty good job.
Description of Work: I used a big deal purchase for Nick's Remodeling Service. They painted my bi-level stairway and the ceiling. Then they painted the living room ceiling and most of the living room. It didn't really need painting. They just touched it up where it did.

Two painters (both named Chris) repaired the surfaces and painted a bathroom with 2 coats and did touch up work in my kitchen and other bathroom. They did a nice job, and were very neat. They were professional and answered my questions. I would use them again and recommend them. I only used them for painting but when I need other services that they provide I would also call them.

Nick is wonderfully friendly and we really appreciate his professionalism and honesty as this is the first time we have ever used a contractor and we had heard horror stories from all our friends. We did the majority of the demolition ourselves and bought the tile, fixtures, etc. ourselves since we really had no idea what we wanted when we started this project. We picked a larger tile than what he expected and he had to adjust the price for us from the original quote for the difference (they were 12 x 36 travertine tiles - HUMUNGOUS!). We felt the price was extremely fair for the amount of work he did. He was prompt every day, did everything he said he would do and then some. His craftmanship is excellent and eye for design and attention to detail also superb. We would highly recommend him to anyone - in fact our parents are going to use him now! He and his crew cleaned up after themselves, all were polite and they even tolerated our monster dog sticking his nose into everything. Thank you Nick - we LOVE our new bathroom!

It went great! He was prompt and communicated effectively. He added some extra little touches that made the deck look great. He was meticulous about selecting the right stain that would match the other boards. I was very impressed with his attention to detail. I would highly recommend working with him again.
Description of Work: Nick and a colleague refurbished the main deck in the back of our home and a small deck off to the side. He replaced just about all of our deck boards in the back except the main support beams. He replaced a support beam that was cracked. He cleaned, stained and sealed both decks.

He has done a wonderful job. He's very professional, he was on time and got the job done quickly. I was very pleased. I would highly recommend Nick for his quality of work, professional attitude, fair price, willingness to work with my schedule, and for completing the finishing touches that most contractors don't or won't do.
Description of Work: He remodeled my kitchen. He put my cabinets in, tiled the backsplash, did the plumbing hook up for sink and dishwasher, move some electrical outlets, and rerouted the heating duct from the ceiling to the floor. I have already hired him to come back and paint the interier of the house.

They did a great job and I will use him again.
Description of Work: Found Nick on Angie's list, contacted him, he and I talked about the project of replacing kitchen counter tops and installing the sink. I provided the laminate countertop and sink. Nick gave me an estimate over the phone of what he projected it would cost $300-$400. He and his helper arrived on time and were very professional and clean. He and Cameron continually kept the area cleaned up for the cutting and sawing was happening in the living room for it was raining outside.

We love our new deck and are especially proud of the ramp. It was built with a 90 degree angle and with our backyard being steep, we just felt like we would end up with a run of the mill ramp. That's not the case because they made adjustments where necessary and we ended up with a really nice looking deck/ramp. Friends and neighbors have noticed and asked who we used. We highly recommend Nick's Remodeling for doing quality work

We contacted the contractor (Nick) via email and Nick responded and came out that same day. He started work on the week that we requested (three weeks from quote date) and completed the work in the amount of time he said that he would (less than two weeks). Nick called the day before work was scheduled to start to make sure everything was in order. At the end of each day he let us know his plans for the next day including if he would arrive early or late or if he would not be out on a certain date. The contractor did an excellent job and the work turned out better than expected. We were not changing the layout of the bathroom so the space was very small but he made it look great. He did not deviate from the quote he gave us originally except for extra purchases we requested after the quote was given. I would not hesitate to have him do more work for us or to recommend him to others.
Description of Work: This was an old unusable 2nd bathroom (very small) from the 1940's that had a cracked tub, partially rotten floors and leaking plumbing. The bathroom needed to be ripped down to the studs. Some of the work performed was repairing the Sub-floor, adding insulation, venting the bathroom and installing a vent fan, running new electrical and plumbing. In addition to hanging bead-board, installing ceiling molding, light fixtures, recessed vanity, laying tile and painting. The toilet was purchased and installed by the contractor. The vanity, lighting and tub were purchased by us but installed by the contractor at our request.

I would never use this company again. I bought a big deal for 6 hours of contracting labor for $199. I wanted a doorway closed in, so I first got an estimate on it. I knew it would take more than 6 hours, but was very surprised at how high the estimate was. It was around $1000, so I decided to not go with that project and decided to just have some painting done and some shelves installed. The hallway was painted with black chalkboard paint. The closet was a regular blue. The painter was very nice and professional, but Nick himself was not. The painter was VERY slow. I have had almost every room in my house painted by contracters, so I am very familiar with how long it takes to paint a room. The painter did not finish painting the first day after 6 hours of painting. Nick sent me a text message saying it would take longer than six hours and it would cost more money. He wanted another $300 to finish it. I told him that it was an unreasonable price as it was a small area to paint and he argued with me saying it was black paint and that's why it was taking longer and I also needed shelves hung up (took him all of 15 mins to hang the shelves). First he sent me a message saying "if you want the job done, then you'll need to pay more for it". We ended up agreeing on $130 more ($50 for paint), which I still consider unreasonable. The painter finished the next day and Nick came over to hang the wire shelves (took him about 15 minutes to do this). I gave him exact measurements on where I wanted the shelves, written on a piece of paper. I don't think he even looked at it because he hung them at the wrong heights. He was about to leave when I went back and inspected the work and stopped him before he took off telling him the shelves were in the wrong places. He came back, moved a shelf, then left again. After I went back in again, I took out a measuring tape and measured them myself. They were still at the wrong heights. I had specific heights as I wanted to put specific sized bins on the shelves, so the heights were important. None of the bins fit on them. I had to take all the shelves down and rehang them myself. As I was rehanging them, I noticed that he did not even put any anchors in the wall for the screws. They were plaster walls, so if anything was placed on the shelves with significant weight, there is no way those shelves would have held up to the weight. I pulled on a shelf slightly with my hand and the screw began to come out... for someone advertising himself as a remodeler, this is basic as it gets. I also had to repaint the spots where the old holes were left from him after redoing his work. My opinion is that he did not think he was making enough money from the job due to the discount he gave on the Angie's Big Deal, so did not put his full effort into doing it the right way or in a professional manner and tried to charge more to make more money off of it. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

On the shelf issue, [member name removed] did not provide the right materials, they were old shelves that had already been used and there were not any anchors. If Lara would have provided the right materials, I would have used them. The walls took three coats of black paint and the trim took two coats of pink paint. I apologize Lara that the shelves were not the way you wanted them. If you would have called me, I would have came back to fix them.

I purchased 2 Angie's List Big Deals from Nick's Remodeling Service for a couple of projects. When I was finally able to schedule, the first project was to demo out some walls in my master bedroom. Nick and his crew came and got the 2 walls out pretty rapidly. They cleaned up pretty well too. The second project I had them paint a back deck and cellar door. When i got home from work, I saw that all of the work had been completed and it looked great! I was very pleased with both projects and would recommend their services.

I am pretty handy and thought I could tackle most of this bath remodel on my own. I got as far as removing the original 1980's, cultured marble tub surround. ( I use the term cultured & marble very loosely here.) Soon after that I was unable to finish the work. So there we were, down to the bare studs. We could take a bath, if we were very careful not to splash, but I was a shower person. "Ah", I thought, "I'll just tape heavy-duty plastic around it for the time being, and then I can take a shower. Just until I can find someone to help finish the remodel." It worked, in the short term, but wasn't very practical, or pretty. Still I put off looking for someone for some time. I hate having to search for home repair people. That's why I prefer to do the work myself, if I can. Just when you think you've found someone reputable, they either don't return your call, seem disinterested when they do call, quote an outrageous price, or worse yet, don't show up at all. This seems especially true when it's a smaller job. That's when I decided to try Angie's List. I had researched on their website before, but balked at having to pay for full access. I "anted up". That's when I found "Nick's Remodeling". I checked his ratings and at the time, there was a special coupon for his service. I purchased the maximum amount I could. I had to carefully watch my budget. He actually called me within a short time of purchasing the coupons. You heard me right, HE CALLED ME! We set up an appointment, he arrived promptly, gave a rough estimate and even shared his ideas on how best to complete the project. The job turned out to be a little more involved than Nick and I had thought($). But Nick and his helper, Chris, worked through whatever came up. They were polite, professional, knowledgeable, and willing to deal with my indecisiveness and seemingly constant changes. They completed all the work we had agreed on, and more. There was a leak from the shower juncture after they had finished, but Nick came back and made the necessary repair as soon as I let him know. He was even able to do another minor job on the bathroom while he was here. I want to apologize for not getting to this review sooner, as the work was finished some time ago. Nick, when you read this, I will be calling you soon. I've got some more work for you.
Description of Work: Remodel of small, Master Bath: 1. Included removal/disposal of old tub, toilet, sink, carpet, & some drywall, etc. 2. Assembled/Installed new wall-mount sink, faucet, medicine cabinet, toilet, & canister light over tub. 5. Removed wallpaper, minor drywall repair , patched, skim coated, and primed walls. Quickly and within budget, the did all the repairs. The paint work was great including painting the paneling on the second floor. They repaired the window in the shower area and it looks great. I was really impressed with the floors. The difference was amazing. They were lightly sanded, cleaned and sealed with poly. They look beautiful.
Description of Work: After the last job we hire Nick's Remodeling to do some repairs on a house prior to selling. The home had holes in the walls, it need a new bathroom floor, new commode, paint, replace or repair the window in the shower area, base moldings. There were wood floors that were in rough shape with stains and old paint. They said they could bring the floors back, but I didn't have much faith that much could be done without fully sanding and refinishing the floors.

He arrived a little late but his was was awesome! We did have to run and get supplies several times and feel like we should have asked for a consultation beforehand so that everyone was on the same page with the supplies that were needed and we had everything to begin with. The only complaint is the fact that the drive time was deducted from the hours that we had paid for which was not explained to us beforehand as well as the rate per hour was given but not explained that it was a per person rate. I think some of the confusion was on our part as this was the first time that we have contracted remodeling work and should have more questions. Overall we are very pleased with Nick's work and his other worker, very courteous and we would hire again! Troy & Stacey Koon Taylorsville, KY

Overall experience was an A+.
Description of Work: I bought 3 of Nick's deals on Angie's list (the maximum I was allowed to buy). I called Nick the next week and he called me back later that evening. He asked when I wanted the work done, and I told him, as soon as possible. He told me he was booked for the week but he would call me on Friday to set up a time to start my work. He called on Friday. We set a date and time. He arrived promptly and he and his associate, Chris, immediately began working. They were both extremely polite and personable!! I felt very comfortable with them in my home. They installed a glass tile backsplash in the kitchen and added bead-board below my chair-rail. The material I had selected didn't fit exactly, but Nick and Chris took the time to figure out the most cost-efficient way to install it for me. The results were amazing! Their work was impeccable and all my family and friends that have seen the updates are impressed with the quality of the job. I also needed a repair done on the outside of the house and Nick and Chris were happy to give me an estimate and complete the work. The work was done efficiently and professionally. They were friendly and always took the time to cleanup before leaving for the day. I asked Nick about some other work I would like to have done and asked him to call me if he had any time before the holidays. He CALLED!!! Unfortunately, I did not have all the light fixtures available, so Nick said he would contact me again after the first of the year. I can't say enough good things about Nick and Chris!! I look forward to working with them both again!! (I just hope they are not too busy after all the Angie's List subscribers read about Nick's Remodeling)
