Description of Work: We had initial contact with this company at the Louisville Home Expo. They enthusiastically set up an appointment with us to come out and inspect our roof. Christie Gillespie came out to inspect our roof and found obvious hail damage to our roof as well as interior kitchen ceiling. She helped us initiate first contact with our insurance company to get repairs done and then she really dropped the ball. We finally had to contact the main office who said they would follow up with Christie to get the estimate and work with the insurance company to get our roof replaced. This whole process began on March 9, 2013. We still have not heard from anyone to this date of May 7! We are now in the process of getting estimates from other roofers and doing all the negotiating that the company initially promised they would do. I just saw one of their commercials on TV that advertises what they claim to do and it is nothing but a huge lie. Someone should sue them for false advertising! Mr. Roof is the Proof that even 50 years of "quality and service" that is printed on their business cards is worth no more than the card stock they are printed on.

This company never did provide an estimate and after a number of calls I just told them to forget my business.I contacted them in early October, By the middle of the month I had not heard from them. Their representative came on a day that was raining so he could not get on the roof to inspect. He said that he would come back when it was not raining to do the inspection. He never returned. After two more calls with the company and no action on their part I contacted them and told them that I would not use their services.

Response from Mr. Roof of Louisville
First off, we owe you, the consumer, an appology for our company representative not re-setting your appointment for another day because it was raining. I have reviewed the behind the scenes notes from our scheduling department where they tried to re-schedule and am forwarding this information on to our sales manager for review. Due to all the storms experienced in the Louisville area this past year we have been extremely busy but that is not an excuse for us not following up. Cheryl Cox, Marketing.

Process began with a meeting and inspection from Mr. Roof adjustor in June. Met in July with Mr. Roof after I had received the check from my insurance company. Roof scheduled and repaired in August as planned. Waited 1-2 months (from July) to see if siding match, and after being told numerous times the results of the match hadn't came back and that ITEL was still working on it (supposedly confirmed via e-mail and/or phone between Mr. Roof and ITEL), I decided to call ITEL myself. I was told the results had been sent back in July. Apparently they had been sent to another contact at Mr. Roof, though my Mr. Roof adjustor denied this. I was told there WAS a match, but now Mr. Roof was waiting on my insurance company. Check in hand for the roof and siding this whole time, I have been back and forth with my insurance adjustor even up until today. Mr. Roof communicated to my insurance company the opposite--that there WAS NOT a match so another inspection had be done to confirm this. So we're back to the original check amount (of which the check being good for 90 days has expired twice already), but in the meantime Mr. Roof has notified me they will no longer continue to pursue fixing my siding due to how long it has taken--while also kindly demanding I send the check in for my still incomplete job. This has been a lengthy, often left-in-the-dark process, I am now waiting on my reissued 3rd check, and I still do not have my siding fixed. I would not recommend Mr. Roof due to the painful process and lack of responsibility taken by Mr. Roof for any of this. In conclusion (just to be clear), I am satisfied with my roof repair, but NOT my service.

It was very unfortunate that in this case that there were issues with the customer's insurance company regarding what they would be willing to compensate the home owner for. We felt the claim should have inclueded more than it did and this was a long drawn out process trying to negotiate in the home owners favor for a complete replacement. In the end, the insurance company would only provide replacement of siding on one side of the house, which we completed. Cheryl Cox, Marketing. Matt Dykes, General Manager.

Had a scheduled appointment with Mr. Roof for a roof repair estimate at 2:30. No one had shown up by 3:00. I called to confirm my appointment and was assured that they would be there. No one had called or shown up by 4:30 so I called again. I was advised that I would need to speak with Ross and was transferred to his voicemail. I left several messages over a 5 day period and have not received a return call from anyone. The lack of professionalism is alarming. I would advise others to avoid using this company.

Paul Sherry came out to get an estimate on installing a new roof. I asked him how much the repair would cost and he would not tell me. I advised him that our insurance company gave us $11,990 for our roof and we needed to make sure that the services can be done for that work. He said he would have to come to our house first before providing us with the cost of the estimate. He said that we had to sign a contact first before even giving the final estimate. I refused to sign anything before being provided an estimate. We got into an argument and I refuse to use his services without first being provided a final cost on an estimate.

Member signed a contract with Mr. Roof stating that Mr. Roof would repair or replace damaged exteriors based on what was covered by her insurance company and that no cost other than her deductible would be charged to her once an approved claim was processed. Working with insurance claims and adjusters is many times a lengthy process and this is why we require a pre-contract. Once Member had the insurance scope, she wanted bids for the work and was not willing to finalize the approved scope of work with Mr. Roof. Our supervisor Ross Appeldorn met with her one last time on or about August 16th to provide her with specific estimates and to review the scope. During that meeting Charisse declined moving forward with any work and has not been willing to return our calls since. We could have invoiced her for our time, and expenses according to our contract but we didn’t. We believe we provided excellent service and assistance to this customer but what can we do if a customer decides not to respond or continue with a contract to do work. It was pretty bad. They were supposed to be there when the adjustor was there, and they never showed or called. I had call four times before they showed up~ proved to me that they didn't want the work or they weren't legit. They wouldn't do an estimate until I would sign a contract, that was blank. I absolutely refused and I asked them to get off of our property. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone/and in response to their answer that is simply not true they did not call it a sevice agreement and besides that they told the claim adjuster they would be there and they never i repeat never showed up they can say what they want but the real proof isin the pudding! My insurance company is auto owners and they will verify what im saying is true! What they are calling a simple agreement simply is not it is binding contract!!! Dont fall for it people or you will be sorry!!! I have talked to several, people who had work done by them and they are sorry they ever called their toll free number!!

Response from Mr. Roof of Louisville
There are two sides to every story and we have addressed this type of complaint before. Our calls increase tremendously when there is a big storm creating what is called a “storm environment”. This has been the case this year from the early spring hail and wind storms experienced in and around the Louisville area. When we are dealing with storm related damage that involves a claim being filed with an insurance company, Mr Roof has a protocol we follow. We require that a home owner sign what is called a “simple agreement”. This gives us permission to not only work with them but meet their insurance adjuster to agree on the damage and the claim to restore the property correctly. We commit our time and resources to them to assure nothing is missed concerning the damages to their home and in return for that work, which is very time consuming, they commit to use our company to do the work per the insurance claim settled. We are providing our construction expertise to them to make sure property damages are not missed. We are not, nor do we claim to be, adjusters and in these types of situations we do not give out an estimates as we need to work with the insurance adjuster in providing adequate information for the claim process. In this particular case the homeowner didn’t want to sign the paperwork giving us permission to work with the adjuster for them so we could not do anything further for them. Mr. Roof did an excellent job on my roof. Start to finish in one day, OUTSTANDING cleanup job. The only way you'd ever know they'd been here is my beautiful new roof. I can't think of anything negative to say about them. They were very professional and did an EXCELLENT job. I'd recommend them to anyone needing roof repairs.
Description of Work: Replaced roof on house and garage. Part of garage overhang (patio cover) had rool roofing... Replaced with SBS roofing material (a much superior type of roofing). Extremely satisfied with entire job. Looks GREAT.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with MR ROOF regarding the new roof you had installed on your home, providing us with an A grade, mentioning the facts that we installed your roof in one day, and the great clean up provided at the end of the project. Due to the recent hail storms our crews and staffs have been extremely busy but still they try to make it a priority to see each job through to completion and provide customer satisfaction. I contacted Mr.Roof for a price quote on my roof, they came out in a timely manner, which I was happy with. They said that they would be in contact with me in a few days with a quote.I waited two weeks and heard nothing, I called and they said we will send someone out to take some measurements, and I said someone already came out and I told them his name and they said they would contact me in a few days with an answer.Waited for few more days and gave them a call back still they said they would send someone out and it started again and I told them this is not a good way to run a business and some other words as well and I hung up.I would not recommend this company because all it seems like is that they want to work with your insurance companies to get top dollar for a re roof.

The salesperson was at my home by the end of the week to bid the job. He was very helpful in regards to my homeowner's insurance claim by speaking with the adjuster and getting the process for the storm damage claim underway so we could move forward quickly. That was the end of my pleasant experience. When the crew arrived on site to begin the job my husband met them outside to request where they unload the massive stack of shingles. Instead of placing them where my husband requested they stacked the mound directly in front of our front porch stairs (the primary entrance to our house). One worker also noted that they had not brought enough shingles for the garage (although it was clearly in the estimate). A portion of the crew proceeded to leave and go back to the business headquarters to acquire the remainder of the shingles. This delayed the start of the job and ultimately turned the project into two full days of labor (the original projection was one day to one and one-half days). When I say two full days I mean from 8 am until dark. Now this additional time would not ordinarily bother me but I had an 8 week old baby with colic at the time and once they started it was impossible to leave because of the debris (roofing nails) everywhere. Needless to say, a crying colicky baby and non-stop banging on your roof top for two days instead of one is a big deal. The morning after the job was completed there was a brush fire on our fenced property. The location of the fire was approximately 20-30 feet from the garage that had been roofed. Nobody was on our property except for the roofing crew. I am forced to at least consider that the cause of the fire was due to an improperly discarded cigarette by the crew as my husband and I do not smoke and had nothing else to relate this incident to (nor is the area close enough to the road that a bypasser's cigarette thrown from a car could have caused this). I will admit this is speculation. I cannot prove it so you can decide for yourself. Luckily, we caught the fire while it was still on the forest floor burning leaves, small twigs, and causing limited damage to cedar tree trunks. The next week it rained. You guessed it! Drip, drip, drip......a leak in the baby's nursery. I called the project manager and he was at our house within 20 minutes. He stopped the leak temporarily since it was still raining and came back the next day to do the final roof repair. The guy was very honest telling me that he missed this error in his final inspection and he took full responsibility. The leak was due to a misaligned roof vent so the water went underneath the new shingles straight into the attic and finally into the baby's room. I can appreciate someone taking responsibility for a mistake, especially when he could have easily blamed the roofing crew. I can even accept a sincere apology if you make it right for the customer. However, the salesperson came back to the house to take photos of the limited damage. There is a drywall ceiling stain where the water came through and the baby's changing table tray had some wood expansion due to the water. I at least expected to be credited a small portion of the bill for this problem. Although the damage was limited, it was still damage that wasn't there before their mistake. Well, I have waited until now to report on this company for two reasons. Number one was to see if they would make right on their wrong. Number two was so that mother hen (myself) would calm down and give a fair evaluation of the events. They have their $11476 dollars and I have a ceiling stain and a damaged changing tray. The roof looks nice though. ;-)
