This is a late review so sorry about this. Mathew did an outstanding job on our deck. He and his crew had to tear down the old deck which was rotten and replace the back to poles. It took them less than a week to do this which was great! His prices are very reasonable. My wife and I are very satisfied with our new deck.

When I contracted Mr. Moakler, 6 February 2024, the agreement was to replace my deck the exact way it was. I had a vertical skirt to help keep out the squirrels and rabbits but he stated a horizontal skirt was better, so I agreed with his assessment….he is the “expert”. Mr. Moakler began replacing the deck March 4th and I paid him half of the cost for the deck. When he “completed” the deck 13 March he told me the building inspector had left an inspection sticker in my mailbox and to put this sticker on my electrical box. The sticker does not have a permit number and the inspector’s name is illegible. I did not pay Mr. Moakler the remaining payment until he came up with a solution for the skirt. The horizontal skirt did not go to the ground to keep the squirrels/rabbits out…. Pictures 1, 2, 3, and 4. His solution was to fill the biggest hole with bricks….that he got out of my yard, picture 5. Of course this was not going to work and did not address the other holes. I’m paying Mr. Moakler $5,290 for a very small deck of 170 sq feet (12’2” x 14”). His second solution for the skirt was to fill in the holes with dirt and straw. I agreed to this but, he still left the bricks in the hole. I paid Mr. Moakler 1 April 2024. I thought that this was “the end”. Last week, Wednesday, 29 May, while on my new deck I noticed that the railing is separating and the treated wood is rotting, pictures 7, 8, 9 and 10. I have called and texted Mr. Moakler several times to come out to address these issues but have not heard from him. Final note is that it has become almost impossible to get quality work done even though you are charged/pay premium rates. To say that you guarantee your work and will return if your client is not satisfied goes out the window after the final payment.

Normally I don’t write reviews but this guy definitely deserves it! I have never met a contractor that was so nice and would explain everything to me, answer all my questions even the silly ones with out out belittling me or get up set that I’m asking all kinds of questions about the project I’m having them do. He made sure I understood each and every step of the process! As woman I appreciate this more than words could describe. Thanks again !
