RUN from this company. Do not hire them. I’m October 2021 we hired metro to install a new wooden privacy fence. The install went good. Within 5 days about 2/3 of the face boards began to warp. One board warped similar to a banana. My wife called them and spoke to the manager (David I believe). He said : “I got you” and agreed to fix the defective boards. About a week from that, the crew came back to “replace” the warped boards. When they arrived my wife asked them why they only brought 20 because it takes at least 9 boards to build a new gate. They said: “that’s all we were given “. A few days after they “replaced” the warped boards; the replacement boards warped as well. So I was back where I started. A few days later I called metro to complain again. As I was talking to the rep, it sounded like the phone was snatched away from her. Now I was talking to the manager (David I believe). He told me that wood may warp and this was stated in the contract I signed. I told him I did see that and acknowledged wood MAY warp, but the wood warping within 5 days is very unreasonable and wood that is processed correctly shouldn’t warp immediately. David advised that metro won’t be performing any further repairs. I informed him that I refuse to pay the balance of what I owe them. David then began to yell so loudly and fast that I couldn’t understand what he was saying. He then hung up on me. A few months later metro files for a lien on my property. Several months and phone conversations with their lawyer and we reach an agreement. That coupled with the fact I wanted them to go away. The main reason we hired them was because they were the cheapest and they gave a military veteran’s discount. I’m sure metro will rebut my complaint with a song and dance and will explain that somehow it is my fault they installed wood that was defective. I will NEVER hire them or recommend them to anyone. If they’ll screw over a military veteran, they’ll screw over anyone. They’ve shown they don’t care about their products or care about the customer. They’ve shown that rather than reach a fair resolution we can both live with, they’ll yell at customers then resort to legal action. I should have hired a company that is more well known and one with a better track record. Hire a company that won’t use sub-standard materials.

Everything went great! I was provided a detailed quote that showed exactly where the fence was to be placed in conjunction to my house and property. It included specifics for the gate, the post and hardware that was going to be installed. An estate gate was recommended due to the size and they felt it would hold up the best over the years. I'm very happy I went with their recommendations. The quality of the gate is noticeable. The company was responsive throughout the entire project and very professional during communication. The crew that performed the install was professional and answered all of my questions. We discussed exact placement of things prior to them beginning. The entire fence is exactly what we wanted and it looks fantastic! We chose a four foot aluminum fence and are very happy with that decision. My wife and I highly recommend Metro Fence Industries!

The system Metro installed as been defective from the outset, characterized by one problem after another. It's been out of service nine times in nine months (for a total of 90 days out of 260). The service from Metro is indifferent. I reported the current problem five days ago (and followed up four days ago) and have not even received the courtesy of a call back. A defective system with terrible service from Metro. Here is the service history for this system. All dates refer to 2016. Please note the gaps between the time a problem was reported and the date when it was thought to be fixed, usually a week or more. The August episode lasted almost four weeks before my gate system was functioning again. 2/18 New Viking solar-powered gate opener system installed. 2/19 Transmitter problem reported to Metro. 2/24 Transmitter problem thought to be fixed. 3/06 New transmitter problem reported to Metro. 3/15 New transmitter problem thought to be fixed. 3/26 Partial gate opening problem reported to Metro. 4/05 Partial gate opening problem thought to be fixed. 4/06 Continued gate opening problem reported to Metro. 4/18 New controller board installed. 4/21 Gate not opening reported to Metro. 5/02 New battery installation (battery #1). 5/04 "Last Open" feature malfunctioning reported to Metro. 5/07 I deactivated the "Last Open" feature myself by removing jumper. 8/02 Gate not opening reported to Metro. 8/29 New part and new battery installed (battery #2). 10/3 Gate not opening reported to Metro. 10/11 New battery installed (battery #3). 10/31 Gate not opening reported to Metro. UPDATE: 11/17/2016: 1. The assertion that Metro "tried to persuade" me "not to use a solar powered gate operator" is a complete fabrication. Also, that I was told solar would "not have the consistency" of a hard wired gate operator" is an invention. At no time was this suggested to me. I was given a bid price to which I agreed. I challenge Metro to provide evidence that its current and sudden assertion concerning suitability is true. It is not. 2. Only recently has the suggestion been raised that a solar system was not suitable for my property. At the time of the order, Metro was happy to take my $4500 and install the system. Metro, not I, selected the location for the solar panel, which gets plenty of sunlight in summer and winter. 3. I agree that I have had a "multitude of problems" with this system. The first four, as detailed in the service history, had nothing to do with the solar panel or the "suitability" of the system for my property. 4. I didn't say I "called" on Oct 31. I said I contacted them. I did that by email using the company email address we had used for previous communications. I notified the owner of the latest problem, and sent copies to the receptionist and office manager as well to make sure they received it. I did the same on Nov 1. Now Metro claims to know nothing about my latest issue? 5. I agree that Metro has sent service personnel out to remedy the various issues. The problem, as evidenced by the service history, is that the supposed "fixes" never last for long. The system is clearly defective. I continue to ask that Metro remove it from my property and refund my $4500.

Response from METRO FENCE INDUSTRIES INC
The customer called Metro Fence requesting a solar powered gate operator. Our Commercial estimator at the time tried to persuade the customer not to use a solar powered gate operator for two reasons; because he was in a wooded area and because the solar powered technology was still in its infancy and we recommended that it will not have the consistency as a hard wired gate operator. The customer insisted that he wanted a solar power gate operator. Since the install, the customer has had a multitude of problems with the gate operator not working and we have sent installers out to look at the operator every time. We adjusted the battery backup, we have tried different batteries, we have called the gate operator technical support line while on site and each time the gate operator passed all of the trouble shooting techniques suggested by the gate operator manufacturers technical support team. We continue to suggest that the solar powered operator is not the best fit for the customer's location and he scoffs at this every time. The last time the customer called was not October 31, we have no evidence where he tried to call Metro Fence. He may have called our former estimator who is no longer employed by Metro Fence and has not been here since the end of August. The customer was made aware that this estimator was no longer employed by Metro Fence when he called in October. We were not and have yet to be informed of any issue the customer is having since we installed a new battery and once again called technical support to trouble shoot issues on October 11. The customer even stated in October that the gate worked perfectly during June and July, very sunny months with little to no rain. When I brought the fact that the operator worked fine during the sunny months up to the customer he stated that the trees were full of leaves so that could not have been the issue. UV rays are abundant in the summer months regardless of the tree coverage. As has been stated to the customer from the beginning and on each occasion that we have spent our time, labor and extra material costs to "fix" only what Mother Nature can fix, a solar powered gate operator is not recommended for his property.

I gave the company a chance to pay for the repairs and finish the job. They claim it is not their problem and would not pay for the damage. This is in addition to making a mess on my driveway, deck and landscaping all of which they failed to clean up. Run and hide from this company, there are far better options in town who will treat you with respect and do the job correctly.
Description of Work: Metro fence perforated 2 lines to my pool after I cautioned them to hand dig in the area. After calling the surly owner, David, he refused responsibility or take pay for the necessary repairs. A complete and utter botched job with a total failure to admit his mistake.

Response from METRO FENCE INDUSTRIES INC
On September 9, 2016, Metro Fence employees, Jayson Radford and James Stone went to install 48"h aluminum fence for Mr. and Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. Metro Fence calls 811 to mark public utilities before we start any job in which we are digging. All of our quotes say that the customer is responsible for having any private utilities, which include, private electric lines for pools, sprinkler lines, pool water lines, etc. marked because public lines have tracers so that they can be located and private utilities do not, therefore it is the responsibility of the customer to know where there private utilities are located so that they will not be damaged during digging. When Jayson got to the jobsite he saw that the [Member Name Removed]'s had a pool but saw that there were no private utility marks, only public utilities i.e. LG&E, AT&T, water, sewer and cable, had been marked with flags and/or painted lines to show the direction in which the utilities run. Jayson walked the entire fence line with the [Member Name Removed]'s to confirm that the layout on his work order was correct. Mr. and Mrs. [Member Name Removed] confirmed where the fence was to go. This clause is also stated on all of our quotes. The customer is responsible for the location of the fence line. Jayson then informed Mr. and Mrs. [Member Name Removed] that he did not see any private utilities marked and Mr. [Member Name Removed] informed Jayson that there was an electrical line one area and told him verbally the direction in which it ran. He then told Jayson that there were no other utilities in the fence line. Jayson informed Mr. [Member Name Removed] that he would hand dig that area where Mr. [Member Name Removed] stated there were private utilities, instead of using our Dingo, which is a motorized digger with an auger. When Jayson came to the area in which Mr. [Member Name Removed] told him there were utilities, he hand dug that hole. He dug about 18" down and found the electrical line that Mr. [Member Name Removed] stated was there at which point he told Mr. [Member Name Removed] that there was a line in the area in which he, Mr. [Member Name Removed], had stated. He then asked Mr. [Member Name Removed] in which direction he wanted to divert the fence line in order to miss the electrical line. Mr. [Member Name Removed] showed Jayson where he wanted the fence line diverted and then left the premises. Jayson diverted the fence line and then started digging the rest of the post holes with the Dingo because the rest of the fence line was clear of public utilities and from what he was verbally told by Mr. [Member Name Removed] clear of all private utilities as well. As Jayson was digging, he hit a water line to the pool. He immediately stopped digging and went to the house to let Mrs. [Member Name Removed] know that he had hit a water line for the pool. Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s response was "our pool guy told us that line ran in the opposite direction, it's OK, don't worry about it. Jayson then called into the office to inform us that he had hit a line. Brenda, our office manager, spoke with Mrs. [Member Name Removed] as well and she reiterated that they did not know that the line was there and for us to finish the job and just leave that hole open so that it can repaired and we can come back and finish after the pool line was fixed. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] also stated how professional and polite Jayson and James were and that she was very satisfied with them. Jayson finished the job, excluding the (1) fence panel and post where the pool line was hit and left the job site. The following day Mr. [Member Name Removed] called and told Brenda that he did not want Metro Fence back out on the job site until this issue had been resolved. Mr. [Member Name Removed] stated that he felt that Metro Fence should be responsible for the damaged pool line and that he had missed the last 10 days of using his pool before closing it for the fall/winter season. Mr. [Member Name Removed] told Brenda that he had showed Jayson both areas and that he told Jayson to hand dig in both of those areas. Brenda informed Mr. [Member Name Removed] that it was the responsibility of the home owner to have his private utilities marked as stated in his quote. Brenda informed me of the conversation and I spoke with Jayson that day and asked him again what had transpired the previous day at the [Member Name Removed]'s job site. I asked him if Mr. [Member Name Removed] had shown him two areas and he stated "no". He then said to me, I am the one who told him, Mr. [Member Name Removed], that I, Jayson, suggested that I would hand dig that area and again, stated what it is that I wrote in paragraph 2 of this response. A few days later, Mr. [Member Name Removed] called again and spoke with Brenda. This call he stated that he felt that Metro Fence should be partially responsible for the damages. When Brenda reiterated that it is the responsibility of the home owner to have the utilities marked he asked to speak to the owner. Brenda informed me that Mr. [Member Name Removed] was on the phone, I picked up. Mr. [Member Name Removed] started off by telling me how professional polite and courteous my installers had been. I told him that I appreciate that. Mr. [Member Name Removed] tried to convince me that the charges would not be that big and that Metro Fence should split the cost with him 50/50. I told Mr. [Member Name Removed] that Metro Fence was not responsible, that he was responsible for having his private utilities marked and that Metro Fence was not responsible for damaging the water line to his pool. I then told Mr. [Member Name Removed] that we are an honest company and informed of a situation in which Metro Fence was responsible for hitting a water line on another job site and that we paid for it because in that situation, it was our fault but in this instance it was not. Mr. [Member Name Removed] became agitated and told me that we can go to court, to which I agreed. He then once again tried to convince me that it was our fault and at that point I then informed him of what his wife had told Jayson and then asked him, Mr. [Member Name Removed], why Jayson would suggest to hand dig in one area where he, Mr. [Member Name Removed], stated that there was a private utility and not the other, especially after having found the electrical line that he, Mr. [Member Name Removed], said was there. Mr. [Member Name Removed] had no response to why this would happen. I also asked Mr. [Member Name Removed] why his wife said what she said after being informed of the damaged water line to which he had no response. We ended our conversation with me asking Mr. [Member Name Removed] if we were going to end the discussion about the private utilities and take the matter to court to which Mr. [Member Name Removed] reluctantly said yes. At that point we ended the conversation. A week or so after that Mr. [Member Name Removed] called once and again and asked for Brenda. He told Brenda that he had gotten the repair to the water done, stated the cost and once again suggested that we pay half and just go ahead and get this situation resolved. Brenda informed Mr. [Member Name Removed] that I was the last person to whom he had spoken and put him on hold so that I could speak with him. Mr. [Member Name Removed] once again asked me to pay for half of the repairs to which I said Metro Fence is not responsible for the damage. A few days after that we received a partial payment from Mr. [Member Name Removed]. He had taken out the cost of his repair and also paid 80% the amount after said repairs. The next day after receiving the partial payment we received an email from the BBB that Mr. [Member Name Removed] had filed a complaint. In his complaint he stated that other issues that were never stated before in the previous three conversations that he had had with myself and my office manager, Brenda. He stated that we left debris all over his driveway and deck, unearthed another pool line and placed a portion of fence so high that he cannot open his garage window. He also stated that we were cavalier, careless and made multiple errors, which completely contradicts his previous statements that both he and his wife made. The layout of his fence was signed off on a layout prior to starting his install and Jayson verified the location of the entire fence line with both Mr. and Mrs. [Member Name Removed] before he started digging. After receiving Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s partial payment and subsequent false accusations with the BBB, we have turned the matter over to our attorneys.

I entered a request on their website with the specification that I was interested in an Illusions Privacy Fence. They quickly called and accommodated the time of day requested for a visit to assess the work. The sales person measured and talked about the brand fence they would use. I asked about the brand I mentioned in my request. His response was "we don't install that fence." I asked why they were listed on the Illusions Website and then he indicated that nobody wants that fence because "the price is just too high." After much discussion, he agreed to price the brand they typically use, the Illusions fence with 5" and with 8" posts and a side chain link gate. He said we would have the quote by Friday. After he left on Wednesday 7/15/15, I emailed him a couple of questions for clarification. The quote came on Monday. No problem that it was not Friday. No response to my email. Quote was only for the brand of privacy fence he was pushing. No Illusions quote. No gate quote. I waited and no further communication. I responded to the quote which came from office staff inquiring about the questions I asked and where the rest of the quote was. No further communication. I called again and got a response to my email of 7/15/15 on 7/27/15. Also on 7/27/15, I got a quote for 42ft of Rosewood colored Illusions fence for $4627 with no mention of 8" posts or the side chain link gate. I called again to inquire about the rest of the quote and was told he would be reminded. Never heard back about the gate. Never heard back, period. I have contracted for 48 feet of Rosewood Illusions fence which is longer then priced by Metro and a new side gate for under $4000. I can't speak to the quality of their installation or the products they peddle. I can only speak to their complete lack of attention to the customer's requests, their lack of communication and their higher prices it seems. If a company is so independent that they really don't need business enough to provide a quote, I'll spend my money elsewhere. 10/8/15 UPDATE Since I placed this review, I have received phone calls from Metro Fence with offers of a free side gate and many apologies. I was also told that the side gate price was included in their first quote to me, but in error, it was not identified on the quote I received. At the request of Metro Fence, I have reviewed my initial opinion about interactions with Metro when I was negotiating for a contract to see if it might by revised . My review remains a factual account of my interactions with Metro. I find it admirable that they are making an effort at service recovery, but this attention to customer satisfaction should have been in July.

I got multiple bids for this job. Metro Fence was the 2nd lowest, initially. Another guy (Chism Fence, which was well-reviewed on Angie's list, but actually gave up on the work because he said he just couldn't find the time to complete it, and issued me a partial refund, the hardware but not labor), gave me the lowest bid. Matt Chism had been stringing me along for a month, and I found out that he actually bought the materials from Metro Fence that he was going to use. I called Metro back and asked if they could complete the job for their initial quote minus the cost of the materials I bought from them through Chism. I was kind of desperate to get this done at this point because it was mid-winter and I was tired of taking a new dog out 4 times a day in the extreme cold. Metro flatly said that they would not deduct what I paid for the materials from the quote. They said that they have a minimum they charge, and can't go below that for a job. They apparently can't comprehend that the materials I bought from them that will be used for this job should be deducted from this job. I ended up paying about $150 MORE than their initial quote to finally get the job done. They were a couple weeks later than promised, and did not honor my request to let me know when they were going to be there to do the work. Finally, they left the dirt from the post holes spread around in random piles, making for a lot of mud in the rain and killing the grass underneath. I happened to stop home for lunch the day their unannounced install was taking place, and asked about the dirt then. The workers stated that it is Metro's policy to just kick the dirt around and spread it out. Seems pretty unprofessional to me to make a big, potentially destructive mess and not include clean-up in the deal.

I was the salesperson for this fence project and wanted to address the comments. The previous contractor purchased the material from JG Metro Wholesale, which is an affiliated but separate business from Metro Fence. When the customer hired Metro Fence, we did not charge the customer for any of the material previously purchased. The previous contractor only purchased 7 posts and 2 walk gates, presumably so that he could do the job in stages to manage cash flow. As such, there was additional material needed to complete the project. Metro Fence provided and installed and an additional10 posts, all the vinyl coated chain link fence and all the hardware. One of the posts had to be core drilled. The previous contractor had set the initial 7 posts too long, so each post had to be cut to size. We also hung the gates that were purchased by not installed by the previous contractor. The customer was charged 15% less than the original Metro Fence quote to accommodate for material that was already purchased and the labor to install the initial 7 posts. Unfortunately, the customer paid $150 above this original quote due to monies that he had paid the previous contractor. The amount paid to the original contractor was not only material and labor but also included profit and overhead. Metro Fence should not have to deduct the profit and overhead that another contractor made from our price. Regarding dirt piles, per our contract with the customer, it states in bold that the dirt will remain the property of the owner unless otherwise agreed to. We are more than happy to remove dirt piles if the customer notifies us in advance and is part of our agreement. We strive to make our customers happy and are sorry that he feels slighted. He was not slighted by Metro Fence, but by the original contractor.

In order to have a new concrete driveway and retaining wall poured, we had to remove a chain link fence between our driveway and our neighbor's yard. We called a couple of fence companies, but only Metro was willing to reuse the original fencing which was still in very good condition. The other companies all wanted to sell us new fencing. The timing for the removal and reinstallation of the fence was dependent on the concrete company and Guy was great about working around their schedule. The fence came down and posts were cut off. After the driveway was completed, new posts were set, and original fencing was put back up in a matter of a couple of hours. It all looks great and the cost was reasonable.
Description of Work: Took down chain link fence next to concrete driveway, sheared off old posts, reset new posts, reinstalled the original chain link as requested by owner.

I called several fencing companies on Angie's List. The first I talked to (the highest rated btw) took a week to come out and when I wanted to change the height of the fence from 6' to 5' never got back to me with an updated quote. I emailed them 3 times and called them 4 times requesting an update to the quote. After waiting 3 weeks, I finally contacted Metro Fence. They were wonderful. Within 30 minutes of when I called, Steve was out at my property and measuring for a quote. He was very professional and thorough. I had the quote emailed to me by the next morning. The quote was very reasonable for the work being performed. I called and had one change to the quote. The quote was updated and my question answered in under 5 min. After I signed and returned the contract, my husband asked me a question and I called Metro fence again. I reached an employee immediately and Steve called me back within minutes. He answered my husbands questions. This is what in my opinion made Metro great to work with. Not only were they fast, efficient and professional during the sale, but their service AFTER I signed the contract and put 20% down remained quick and professional. My custom fence arrived on 2 1/2 weeks later as promised. They scheduled an install the very next day. Two installers arrived. One had over 28 years experience installing fences. When he ran into a problem where my concrete we were mounting the fence on had deteriorated (the old fence they were taking down had been installed to close to the edge and cracked the concrete on the edge), he quickly and efficiently explained to me how it should be fixed and offered me several options. The options cost me no extra money and was just a matter of placement. He patiently explained how and why the problem occurred and took the time to make sure I not only saw the issue with the concrete, but understood his suggestion. Excellent customer relations! The installers were quick, very professional. The chain link fence 10' replacement was tight and very well done. The aluminum fence is set on flanges ramrod straight. They took time to not only level it all ways, but to make sure it was installed properly. My father who worked as a house contractor for 40+ years doing woodwork (and is VERY picky) commented their work was exceptional. The install took five hours. During the install, the first fencing company called with my updated price (5 1/2 weeks later). During the time it took them to get back with me on pricing a change from 6' to 5', Metro had not only gotten me a quote, an adjustment to the quote and answered questions...they also had the fence ordered and installed! The installers did a great job cleaning up and hauling out the old fence. I would definitely work with Steve Gumlaw and Metro Fence again and would recommend them to anyone needing fence work done. They are far superior to the other company listed here that is apparently to busy to worry about customer service. The funny thing, when I received the follow up quote from the first company, it was actually $100 more than what Metro ended up charging. Plus I got to use the Angie's List coupon with Metro.
Description of Work: Removal and disposal of existing fence. Installation of 52' - 5' high aluminum fence (powder coated) on plated posts including a 3' wide swing gate (13 ft x 26 ft x 13 ft next to garage). Replaced 10'w x 4'h section of chain link fence with 2 hookups.

When the estimator came out, he took no notes, only measured, never explained how they did the work, and said he would email or fax us the estimate tomorrow. He acted as if he didn't care if he got the job or not. We were unimpressed with his lack of knowledge or his attitude toward the entire situation. I would never give them any work in the future.

I am one of the owners of Metro Fence and was the estimator that quoted this project. I met with the homeowner at 3:30 on March 10. We walked the site together and discussed the type of fence, the layout and other items such as the non-buried cable on the right side of the yard that we needed to be aware of. I documented all of these items on my iPad, as well as the measurements of his yard. In addition, I took numerous pictures from various angles of the property with my iPad. At the end of the meeting, I asked the homeowner how he would like to receive his quote. He asked that I call him tomorrow with the quote. He never provided an email or fax number. The next morning, I called the homeowner and went over the quote. At that point, he asked how far out we were. I answered him and told him that I would put the written quote in the mail and that I appreciated the opportunity. I then placed the quote in the mail. A few weeks later, I was surprised to see this review. As an owner, I have a vested interest in making sure our customers, both current and prospective, receive the best customer service possible. To this end, I would never take a prospective customer for granted or in any way act as if I did not care if we received a job. The inconsistency of this review with our other reviews and the reviews we have received outside of Angie’s List concerned me. I was also concerned to discover that the person who wrote the review was not the homeowner with whom I met. The homeowner I met with had a different last name than the person who wrote the review. Therefore, I wanted to make sure that there was not a mix up. Upon Angie’s List recommendation, I contacted the homeowner who I met with on March 10, to discuss the review and to inquire if he knew the person who wrote the review. The homeowner acknowledged that he knew the person who wrote the review but he had no knowledge of what she wrote in her review. He explained that he only told her our price, which seemed high to her and with that she wrote her review. If anyone has any questions or concerns about this review, I would be happy to discuss in more detail. I can be reached at 502-458-8701.

We purchased the installation of 15 feet of decorative fencing at an auction. We needed to add two rails to our two porches with steps. They came an measured, and about 1 month later the railing was done and powder coated. Two installers came yesterday and did a beautiful job of installing the railings. They were also very neat. There was no trace they were there after the installation other than our two, new beautiful rails. We are absolutely delighted.
Description of Work: Installed two porch railings, including with steps.

They gave an estimate that was substantially more than a different company that we went with. They were very good to work with. I had no complaints but the price was less with a different company. They were on time and as well.

This company was by far the friendliest on the phone, and the person who came out to provide the estimate was very knowledgeable and professional. He did a great job explaining options and benefits of hiring a professional fence company. However, his estimate was 50% higher than the other two companies we got quotes from, with no apparent reason for the price difference ($4500 vs. $3000), so we opted to go with another company. Still, the interactions we had were very positive.
Description of Work: This company came out to provide a free estimate to replace a wood fence and gate in our front and back yards.

Once work was agreed to, came without needing follow-up call and repaired fence. Can't tell that the damage was ever there. Will absolutely use if we have any kind of fencing issue in the future.

He was on time which is really important. He was very professional and very nice. I would recommend him to anyone and would use him in the future. I will call him for any fencing work. Update 02/18/13: They did an excellent job. They told me it would take 3 hours and that is when they were done. They were nice and professional.
Description of Work: The man came out to give me an estimate. He measured and spent a little extra time with me. He was very patient when I was asking him questions. He listened to what I said, he was really nice. This was the first time I had used them. Update 02/18/13: They put up a privacy fence.

They have done a good job so far, and have been very polite. The Metro Fence Company installed a new chain link fence for me this week. We coordinated it with tree work and much brush removed before the fence could be installed. Well, those two fellas set the poles on Wednesday and had to wait until today, Feiday, to finish the job. It has been a cold, wet, miserable day. BUT, these two fellas knew I have two big dogs and really needed my fence. They worked in the cold rain and my fence is FINISHED!! I can't say enough good things about these two fellas. They could have waited until Monday, but they didn't. What great people the Metro Fence people have working for them. And my salesman, Jim, was really great to coordinate the fence installation with the brush clean-up in my back yard. Need a new fence, do call the Metro Fence Company in Louisville, Kentucky. Thanx,

Overall the experience was good to fair dealing with Metro. Our Sales Rep was very helpful at discussing options for the fence and was able to give us drawings of the proposed design. After receiving our initial estimate, we made a few revisions and decided to move forward with having Metro install the fence. One aspect of the experience that I did not care for was the lack of a scheduled date to begin the work. Ultimately, I had to call the office to get clarification on when our work would begin. My call was answered courteously and I was given the information that I needed. When Metro's workers came out to do our work, we were generally not informed that they were on the property. They mainly knocked on the door if they needed a vehicle moved, but beyond that, they came and went, largely unannounced. They main carpenter that built the fence seemed to be an excellent craftsman, and his workmanship is evident in the fence that was built. We did have a couple of significant issues with the construction. We had initially specked for a 10' wide gate, but the posts were set 8' apart. Upon notifying Metro about the problem, they promptly came out to reset the posts. After the fence was completed, it became apparent that the fence deviated from our property line significantly on one side. Additionally, the gate across the driveway was not perpendicular to the house and the gate had a substantial sag in the middle. After a bit of back and forth, the company owner was kind enough to meet me at the property and discuss my problems. We were able to come to a amicable resolution and Metro promptly returned to my property and did the repairs that I had requested. I would use Metro Fence in the future, but I will be better about making my expectations clear regarding scheduling and quality control.
Description of Work: Metro Fence installed a custom fence for the backyard of my house. The fence is a wooden fence, providing 6' of privacy in areas and 4' in others, where privacy was less of a concern. Metro also built a 10' wide gate across the driveway and a pedestrian gate in another area of the fence.

We got several quotes, with one from Metro fence being the highest. However, the person who came out really knew his stuff. He impressed us with the level of detail he went into around how difficult it would be to put posts in to our yard (other companies barely paid any attention to the old tree roots). He also worked with us to find a fence line that would make sense - he even pointed out that where we originally wanted the fence showed evidence of our neighbors having consistently driven over that part of the yard (thus not a great place to put a fence unless we wanted it damaged!). We suspect that with Metro Fence, you get what you pay for. Their attention to detail and quality of service were impressive.
Description of Work: We have not had the work done but when/if we do, we will be going with Metro Fence.

We just got three quotes from three different vendors and actually they were the highest but their service, professionalism and who they sent out to do the estimate was far above the others so I went with the highest estimate based on their service. If we need them in the future we will use them.

Metro did a great job of installation and clean up Easy to work with, showed up when they said they would, did what they said they would do Would definitley recommend! Come see for yourself at 564 Sunningdale Way, Elizabetthtown!
Description of Work: Contracted through Lowes in Elizabethtown, KY We chose the Eurocraft Ironcraft fence...cheaper than chain link and a much more contemporary look...allows us to keep our views and keep the dogs in... but keeps other dogs/geese/ducks/rabbits out of the yard! Love it! (So do the neighbors!) Metro did a great job of installation and clean up Easy to work with, showed up when they said they would, did what they said they would do Would definitley recommend! It went really well overall. Jim came out for the estimate right away. He spent a lot of time understanding my needs and came up with the perfect solution. The installers came when they said they would and were very courteous. I had to call them back for a couple of things left undone but they always came out immediately and got the job done.

I was ok and everything went well. I have no complaints about them. They were efficient, but not as fast as I thought they should be.
