Margaret’s Moving and Storage did a fantastic job of moving our furniture from Louisville to Shelbyville! The team was very polite and a prompt at starting when they said they would. They took care in making sure they didn’t scratch the wood flooring at both places! If you want someone to move your furniture the way you would personally move it, then be sure to give Margaret’s Moving and Storage a call!

The crew showed up late, without calling. Part of the crew arrived, smelling of marijuana and proceeded to start work without their crew boss or providing any paperwork. The crew was obviously disorganized without their crew leader, and proceeded to attempt to disassemble furniture which did not need disassembly for moving. The furniture had to be reassembled again and then loaded on the truck. This type of confusion persisted throughout the move. The short of it is that the crew was disorganized and slow. The crew foreman got distracted frequently and did not focus on keeping the crew on task or focus. The move took nearly twice as long as estimated for a crew of 6. The final delivery charge was nearly twice the estimate that was offered when we selected them. Two pieces of furniture were broken during the move, reimbursed at .60c per pound of broken item. Surely there are many reasons why an estimate would be incorrect. I give them leniency on that. The disorganized unprofessional nature of the delivery crew, coupled with the lack of timeliness and lack of communication lead me to think less of the overall experience. Do not recommend.

Because of the problems that had occurred during our move, I met with Margaret at their office the following week to review what had happened, using my logbook, which I had reviewed with the move boss, "Stormy" Weathers, who's also Margaret's husband and a co-owner of the company. 1. The company's estimator said the move would take three days--It took them eight. 2. The moving crew changed daily with some excellent people and any number of part-timers working for a few hours before leaving for school or another job. (I drove a couple of them out to UPS because they didn't have a ride.) 3. Rather than supervising the crew, "Stormy" Weathers seemed to be more interested in getting involved in the actual packing and loading 4. Workers shot baskets in our driveway while they waited for something to do on the last day of packing. I found "Stormy' upstairs by himself wrapping vases and packing them in boxes. 5. Before the last truck pulled out, nobody went through the house to make sure it was empty so a five-foot stuffed sailfilsh and antique restaurant coffee brewer were left behind. (We found the items the next day and had to pack and move them ourselves.) 6. Their truck with moving supplies sat in our driveway for two days after their last moving truck left. I had to call Margaret's before somebody came and drove it away. Margaret made copies of my logbook pages, and said she'd be back to me in a couple of days. That was two months ago, and I haven't heard anything from her since the meeting. What has occurred during that 60-day period is: 1. The furniture and boxes in the warehouse stored on pallets have been unloaded, and we have a two-page list of items found to have been damaged because they were not packed and/or moved carefully. But we have no recourse because of the time that passed since the move. 2. Margaret's moving materials were tp be picked up by one of their trucks between 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. a month after the move, but their truck didn?t show up until 8:30 p.m. and had only the driver. I had to use a fork-lift truck in the darkness and freezing cold for 2 ½ hours to help him load their empty pallets and other paraphernalia for the return trip to Margarets. 3. Last week I opened a fireproof box that Margaret?s movers sealed in saran wrap before it was loaded on a truck. The box had our passports and two bags of silver-clad Kennedy half dollars dated 1976-1977, one with 550 coins and the other with 780 coins. Both bags were still there, but one was empty and the other had only had a single Kennedy half-dollar. A robbery report has been filed with the Louisville police, and I have emailed Margaret?s that they may be hearing from a detective wanting the names of everyone who worked on our move.

The moving crew appeared basically on time in a rented truck. They sent 2 men and no tools to breakdown the 3 pieces of furniture they were to move. I told the receptionist that it was a large solid cherry set. That is why I didn't move it myself. So I got them a phillips head screw driver (all I had)and they went at it. About 3 hours later the truck showed at the receiving end of the trip and unloaded the furniture and then with a phillips head screw driver( again provided by me) they attempted to reconstruct the suite. The men were there an additional 2 hours. I in the meantime was supervising other projects going on in and around the house. When they guys were finished, they found me outside and said," We are in a hurry to get to our next job. We didn't think this would take this long. Goodbye" I watched as they pulled out of the drive way and made my way towards the house to see the new bedroom suite. I was shocked to find out that they LOST a finial off the bed post. I immediately called Margarets Moving to have them contact the guys and check the truck,thinking that they just didn't see it and accidently left it there. Margarets receptionist called me back and told me" they found nothing in the truck, and it was my resposibility to check the truck before it left. She said "it said so in the e-mail sent to me to confirm my appointment." I hated to inform her but i had gotten no such e-mail. She couldn't even tell me what my e-mail address was, and that wasn't the point. They moved 3 pieces of furniture and lost an integral part of the set. The receptionist told me all I could do was file a Lost/Damage report. I told her to have the managment contact me. The next day. I called back and was told the truck had been returned to the company they rented it from and it was out of their hands. They could give me the number of that companyand I could call them to see if they found it. I again said I wanted to speak to a manager. She assured me someone would call me. I then filled out the extensive Lost/Damage report on their website and sent it. In the meantime, I notified the bed manufacturer in North Carolina of my problem, and they sent me a new finial at wholesale price. The part was on back order and they made a special effort to bring my $6000.00 bedroom suite back to its original beauty. That was 4 months ago.... ...I have still not heard from Margarets Moving.

These guys spent a full day, and worked very hard. They took a lot of care to protect sentimental/valuable pieces, and really went above and beyond when it came to wrangling one particularly heavy & awkward piece up the very narrow stairs in our new home.

Margaret's Moving & Storage were really good with the furniture, especially the wooden stuff. They wrapped everything up real nice in plastic trying to prevent any scratches or damage, they were here when they said they would be, got it done, and didn't have any trouble with Margaret's Moving & Storage. They weren't the cheapest but they got it done quicker with the amount of people they used and it was raining the day we moved so it didn't make it any easier. They were all real nice and courteous.

Movers showed up in the middle of the hour window they gave me in the morning. They actually finished an hour and a half earlier than estimated. All furniture was carefully wrapped and handled. Washer & dryer were carried upstairs. Heavy woodworking equipment was moved with ease. No damage to furniture, tools, or contents. Also no damage to walls or entryways which surprised me given the tight environment some pieces were moved to. Each item was unloaded to the desired location. Not only were the movers courteous and good at what they did, they kept me laughing the entire time. I recommend these guys to anyone. Please remember to tip them for their work!
Description of Work: Moved all furniture, boxes, beds, dressers, tables, etc. Also moved woodworking equipment (bandsaw, tablesaw, dust collection, work benches, router table, joiner, planer, drill press, scroll saw, and more). Also moved contents of 10x10 storage unit.

On Friday 1/18/2013 I contracted with Margarets moving and storage to move 2 units from an apartment building. The Packing was to be completed on 1/21 and the move was to be completed on 1/22. The quote was for 2 crews one crew for each apartment. On 1/21 the crews arrived about 10 minutes late to the job site. They came inside and started packing the units. About 15 minutes into the packing process the crew noticed a bedbug infestation in unit 1. The crews then immediately stopped work. They contacted the main office and when I spoke to Crystal at the main office she said that since there is an infestation there would be an additional $250 charge. I agreed to the additional charge in essence of time. The crews left anyway after being onsite for 30 minutes with a total work time of 15 minutes. I have contacted Margarets for a refund and they have refused to offer the refund and have charged me a total of $380 because their minimum is 2 hours. There were 2 crews there one for each apartment 1 apartment was infested not both. So if one crew left I could understand but both crews left not performing the work indicated in the contract.

Margaret's Moving and Storage (MMMS) moved us from Indiana to Louisville. This was a total house pack and move. The packers and movers were two separate teams of 3 men. They were all extremely courteous and very professional. Although I feel they did a great job overall, I do see opportunities. One..the packers did not appear to have a foreman and therefore, it took them longer than necessary to pack my items...but did they get the job done. They do need to be reminded to mark all boxes indicating the room the items came out of. Had I known this was not being done, I would have made sure it was. I now have a mountain of boxes with no clue what's inside. Not fun. Two...the movers, although great at what they do, damaged the laundry room floor when they delivered the washer/dryer. I am still working with MMS to get this damage resolved. We both work full time and have not had an opportunity to check out all the boxes for damage. I don't anticipate any major damage to my personal items, however, the time has past for us to make a claim if we did. As I previously indicated, the MMS staff, both in the office and those who did the physical work, were all very kind, professional, courteous and sensitive to our needs. It's never fun to move, but the staff from MMS attempted to make the move as stress free as possible. They took great care of our personable items and treated them as if they were their own. Overall, I am very pleased with the services I received from Margaret's Moving and Storage. I would definitely work with them In the future.

Very well. The movers were professional and punctual.
Description of Work: The movers came to do an interior move. It involved moving two sofas, etc. downstairs and moving a sectional upstairs. They were punctual and very professional. I thought it was a little pricey for what they did but I knew up front that there was a two hour minimum. I still decided I wanted it done, and i am glad I did.

This was a very good move. The moving team showed up on time. They were both polite and efficient. And the total cost of the move came in almost exactly what the estimate was. The movers were very conscientious. They asked questions before moving furniture or items that they thought needed extra care. They listened to my concerns and explanations about various items that were important to me. It was a very pleasant move, because of their excellent service and hard work. I would recommend them to anyone.

Were scheduled for noon move, called asked if they could come early we agreed on 10; then called and said they would be at 11, but came at noon. Received a call from 2 different trucks they were coming. The move went smoothly; from 1 2-bedroom assisted living home to another. A short move that took 4 hours and 45 min; 4 hrs was the estimate. The hourly price was less than other movers; they were very nice and professional!

They stick to their time. We hired them for manual labor. They were fast and efficient. They showed up quickly. They were safe in everything they did and the hot tub arrived in one piece. Yes, I will use them in the future.

I utilized Margaret's Moving and Storage to move household items from my home to a local storage unit. When I called to inquire/schedule the service, the young lady I spoke with was very professional and courteous. I explained to her the number of rooms and types of furniture that needed to be moved and specified that I also had a 900 lb gun safe that would require moving. She advised that my needs would require one truck and a 3-person crew. I told her that the crew would need some sort of special Material Handling Equipment to deal with the safe and she assured me that they would have what they needed. I received a follow-up call a couple of days prior to the moving date to verify that everything was still scheduled as planned. I took this opportunity to express my concerns, again, over the weight of the safe and to remind her that the movers would need some heavy-duty equipment to move it. Once again, she assured me that the movers would be prepared with everything they needed. The crew arrived at the specified time with one of the "gentlemen" pulling his tremendously oversized pants up from below his buttocks on his way to my door and fastening them appropriately. He looked as though the other crew members had awakened him as soon as they reached my driveway. The three men introduced themselves and we took a tour thru the house so they could size up the contents to be loaded. When they saw the gun safe, they displayed genuine surprise; it was clear that nobody had prepared them for moving this item. In fact, the chief of the crew said that they usually were given notice about such heavy pieces so that they could bring the necessary equipment. Although, he had no solution for how to acquire what was needed to safely and carefully move the cabinet, he was quick to point out that it was going to cost an extra $100. I reluctantly agreed to the increase, not because I felt the price was unreasonable, but because it had not been previously disclosed. The crew decided that they could handle the gun safe, as well as the rest of the furniture and proceeded to load the truck. I can't say that they worked quickly, but they did work steadily, and did a fairly good job of avoiding damage to the walls of the house. When it came time for them to load the safe, I was still very skeptical about their ability to do so and wondered why they didn't call back to their office to have somebody bring them something to assist with the lifting and carrying. They got it up the ramp and onto the truck where they proceeded to DROP MY GUN SAFE! What HAD BEEN a pristine piece of cabinetry with a finish like a brand new automobile, now had scuff marks on its side and 3 inches of paint chipped from one corner. I was furious, but found it difficult to blame the moving crew because they had to work so hard to handle something that should have been moved using mechanized equipment. When we arrived at the storage unit, everything went south for a second time, when they dropped the gun safe, AGAIN!! Now, I had 2 more areas where the paint was chipped off the corners and more scratches. In addition to the ordeal revolving around this single piece, the crew showed no sense of care for my furniture as they placed it into the storage unit. Boxes were crushed because they were stacking heavy items on top of lighter ones and they even used the control panels of my brand new washer and dryer as supports for an upside-down table onto which they proceeded to stack heavy boxes...and even other furniture. On top of it all, when the chief of the crew called back to the office because he "had to let them know about the safe", I was never offered any kind of compensation or discount for the property they had damaged. I will never use Margaret's for moving , again, nor will I recommend them to anybody. I've already moved my property from the storage units with another moving (and furniture) company from Radcliff and they did an outstanding job. Please do yourself a big favor and carefully select the company you use to handle your move. You don't want your personal property treated the way mine was.

Unfortunately, this is the first we are hearing of the incident. We cannot solve a problem if we are unaware there was a problem. I agree that the disconnect was when the customer service person failed to add that safe to your list of items, as we would have sent different or additional staff and/or equipment. Letting a business know up front about problems lends them to be handled more appropriately than posting on the internet only to be reviewed months later. I did review your file and there was never a claim filed. During the move would have been the right time to let the office know of the problem. I am truly sorry you were displeased. We spend a lot of resources to get business, it is never our intent to anger or do a bad job. Being ill prepared was our big mistake here and for that I am sorry. Best of luck to you and your family! Overall, I was very disappointed with the services provided by the team of three individuals sent to our home to help us move. The movers arrived 30 minutes later than when they stated they would arrive. They did promptly begin moving our furniture but did not take care when moving furniture down the hall and stairs. We were left with several gashes that needed repair. Additionally, one of the movers tracked in dog feces with the dolly and didn't even bother to clean the dolly when we realized where it was being tracked in from. Instead, he continued tracking the feces across our floors and left me with quite the mess to clean up. We also had to clean the dolly ourselves. Furthermore, we were charged for the hour transit time it took to get from our old house to our new house - it only takes 20 minutes to get from where we used to live to our new home. Several items were also damaged but since they had some particle board components the company was not liable for the damage. I will never again use Margaret's Moving and Storage.
