Services we offer
Plumbing, maintenance and installation of furnaces, air conditioners, geothermal, bathroom remodeling, design (residential & commercial, aging-in-place), sewer, drain cleaning, water, gas piping, repiping, water heater installation, heat pumps, hot water circulation, backflow prevention, sump pumps, garbage disposal, whole-house generator, humidifiers, electron air cleaners & HEPA filters.
This was the first time we had hired Maeser Services to handle our plumbing problems. We called them Monday for non-emergency repairs to be performed on Wednesday. Reid arrived minutes after we received a telephone call telling us he was on his way. He was friendly, courteous, and professional, completing the work in a very knowledgeable manner. We also appreciate that he cleaned up what little mess there was and that he wore shoe covers while in our home, removing them each time he went outside to his truck (which I know is a nuisance). A bonus was that Reid was very tolerant of and kind to our dog, who would have helped if he had been allowed to. We received an estimate of costs before the work was done, and an Angie's list discount, and a discount for more than one task performed. We would definitely call Maeser Services again for future plumbing problems.
Description of Work: Worn stems were replaced in our old bath tub faucet, which had been leaking badly for several days. The fill valve was replaced in the master bath commode. Before replacement, it had been necessary to remove the top cover on the water closet and jiggle inside parts to shut off the water to the toilet.

I used Maeser to install a new faucet and move the drain for a new sink after having new countertops installed. The company who did the tear-out and install of the countertops accidentally took the top flange that connects the garbage disposal to the sink. The plumber told me that I could not just buy a replacement flange and that I had to buy a new garbage disposal. He sold me a $89 Badger 5 garbage disposal for $307. The cost to install the faucet I supplied was $297. The cost to move the drain was $109. So, $683 (he gave me a $30 coupon) and 2 hours later I have a new the faucet installed, drain moved and a new garbage disposal I did not need. The plumber was very courteous and professional, but I feel I was taken advantage of and forced to buy a new disposal that I really didn't need....I just needed a $16 flange. I would not use this company again.

We appreciate your feedback. On all of our service calls our technicians review the situation with the customer, develop several options to resolve the situation and review these options along with pricing with the customer. Once the customer has selected the option that best fits their needs, we have them sign a work order authorizing us to do the work. Once the work is complete, we have the customer sign the work order stating that they are satisfied with the work performed and we collect for services provided. In this case, [member name removed] authorized the work and acknowledged the satisfactory completion of the work. The amount spent on the time is inaccurately reported in her claim. Our tracking mechanisms have the technician on the job for 3 hours. We use upfront flat rate pricing when presenting our options. We do this ensure consistency from job to job. Also, if the job took 5 hours vs. the 3 hours, the price is the same. No surprises. Thanks

The workers were very courteous. I just think this company is very over-priced.
Description of Work: Called at 12:30 and they arrived at 2:50 which was punctual. When I called I told the service schedular that I needed to have my sewer drain cleaned out and to make sure the plumber brought the snake with the root cutter. The drain was running very slow but I cleaned up the area and moved my clothes dryer out of the way. When they came in I showed them the drain to be snaked and told them that when I snaked about a year ago a good sized root ball came out. He said he would give me an estimate before he started his work. I was amazed, to say the least, when he said it would be $365 and would take about an hour to do the work. I told him I thought this was high and said I would get someone else. He then informed me this would be fine and I would be charged the service run of $69.00. At this point, I told him to go ahead and he said he would take off 30.00 as a coupon. They were ready to leave at 3:50 and I watched as they took out their equipment. I went down to see the root ball they removed but he said they already took it out to their truck. I was skeptical and sure didn't see it when they went out and they did not have a garbage bag. I just don't feel good about their service. The drain is working but for how long? I was told to call for an estimate to replace the line but if Maeser charges that amount for 1 hour, I'm afraid I can't afford what they might charge for work any more extensive than what they performed at my home today. Remember, the quote was given before the work was performed so they can't say it was more difficult than they thought it would be.

The HVAC Maintentance agreement is a service we provide to customers who value the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of their heating and cooling equipment. A well maintained and tuned up HVAC system will improve the efficiency and life of the unit. The result is a savings in energy costs up to 20% to 25%. All manufactures of HVAC equipment recommend an ANNUAL cleaning and tune up. A properly maintained HVAC system's life can be extended by 5 years. We do send out renewal reminders to notify the customer that this important service is getting ready to expire. We have been servicing the community for 40 years. We have an A+ rating with Better Business Bureau. We have been recognized as an industry leader receiving the Angie's List 2012 Super Service Award. The work was done promptly, as planned, and finished in one day. The on-site plumbers were well-dressed, clean and courteous. I highly recommend Maeser to anyone wanting a quality job dome right.
Description of Work: We have a home that is about 22 years old and we needed a few upgrade in faucets and toilet repairs. Some of the units were older, and Maeser has the experience and expertise to find an excellent replacement. I wanted all toilets to have the "internal parts" replaced before some started leaking.

In March of 2012, I found that my air conditioner was not operating very well, so I called Maeser to come and have a look at it. The technician, Jeff, came out promptly, did a great job finding my screw-up when I replaced my thermostat, and had us good to go in very little time. Full marks. Instead of paying directly for the visit, I chose the 1-year HVAC service agreement, which carries a discount for various services as well as a furnace check up in the subsequent fall. I paid at that time $185 for that service, essentially getting a small discount on a well-needed furnace check-up. In October, John came out and checked my furnace. It was in good working order, but he suggested that one of the parts was nearly worn out, and that it should probably be replaced. For this, I paid no additional charge for the visit, having paid already in March, and about $95 after my discount, for the part and its replacement. I've come to doubt whether or not this was a necessary repair, having had my furnace recently evaluated by energy experts. These auditors helped me to learn that my furnace is very nearly 30 years old, and likely has many parts with no so very much life remaining... They also indicated that some inspections that do not charge enough up front to cover the costs of the visits tend to find things that need to be replaced at a higher rate than those inspections that charge more up front. Is this what happened in this case? Impossible to say. I didn't really think so, since I felt a great deal of confidence at that time in the business practices of the Maeser companay. So where are we so far? Looks like we are heading toward an A rated review, right? A couple of days ago, I received a notice from Maeser, labeled "Maintenance Agreement". There were two copies, and the second copy had written on it, "Return Copy with Payment". The type of agreement is a 1 year HVAC Maintenance, and the coverage period is 3/19/2012 through 3/18/2013. Interesting, wouldn't you say? Looks for all the world like a bill. In particular, the word "Renewal" does not appear anywhere on the form, nor does any indication of service extending beyond 3/18/2013. Fortunately, I've just gone to a paperless document system, so a quick search for Maeser found all of my documentation from the past year, including my receipt for the agreement from last March, and the entry on my credit card statement where the charge appeared. So, I called them this morning to ask about this situation. It turns out that this wasn't a bill! It turns out that this was a renewal agreement, which I am welcome not to pay. But here's what I think. I think they send these unlabeled renewal agreements out to all of their HVAC maintenance contract customers, expecting that some of them will not remember that they already paid the bill a year ago. If some of those individuals send in a new payment, great! If they find out at some later time that it is a renewal, and that they just re-entered into a HVA maintenance program for a second year, a service that probably only needs to be done every three years or so, well that's just too bad, isn't it? And probably many of those that respond would just forget about it, since it is very clearly (to the receiver) a bill for services rendered in the past. Closing thoughts: Maeser's techs seem to be very competent. If you have money to burn and you want same day service, by all means, call these guys. They will flat get it done. But, baby, you are going to pay. And, you are going to become involved with a business that is engaging in a least one pretty shady consumer practice, which should cause you to worry (as it does me) that they might be willing to engage in others that can't be detected by proper record keeping.

We generally do not give out prices over the phone to avoid any misunderstanding or miscommunication. We prefer to send a trained, licensed professional to the residence to evaluate the situation and provide several options to resolve the issue in the safest and best interest of the customer. However if a customer insists, we will provide them a price for a STANDARD installation. We also explain that if there are any unforseen conditions or Kentucky Plumbing Code updates which need to be made there could be some additional costs involved. In Member's case, her water heater was encased by cabinets and shelving in the corner of her room. To get the water heater out of this confined space, we would have had to do one of a number options including removing overhead shelving, disconnecting sink drain lines and water supplies to faucet adjacent to the water heater, and moving these cabinets. We apologize for any miscommunication or misunderstanding. We did not charge the customer for the service call.

My original water heater was leaking from the bottom, so I called Maeser to have them inspect it. The technician was thorough in his troubleshooting and located the source of the leak. He advised me that the water heater was starting to fail and would need to be replaced. He provided several different options with price quotes. I told him I would review the options and call back to setup an appointment. What I discovered the next morning as I was getting ready for work was that I had no hot water. I went down to the basement to discover that the pilot had not been restarted after his inspection. I had to restart the pilot and wait for it to heat up. I called back approximately 1 week later and was given an installation appointment for that Saturday. I had spoken to the person scheduling the appointment and asked a question about warranties - did they offer only a six year warranty or was there any heaters that came with a longer warranty? She said she would check on this and get back to me, but I never heard from her. That Saturday, the installers arrival time was 45 minutes to an hour later than what I was told to expect, even though I was the first call of the day. Once they did arrive, they were very efficient in the removal and replacement of the water heater unit. I also asked them to check that our sump pump in the basement was working properly. It was determined that it was not kicking on automatically when the water level reached a certain point. The technician told me what needed to be replaced and the cost involved. I authorized them to perform the work. The final price on all repairs was what was originally quoted, so there were no surprises. Since the work has been completed, I have not encountered any issues, and the unit has been performing to our satisfaction. .

In every case the service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The dispatcher was courteous and responsive, and the servicemen took care of the immediate need without unnecessary other service or expense. When a repair was needed it was thoroughly explained. After the furnace service the serviceman recommended a humidifier setup and explained its benefits on air quality. I declined to do that at this time but may consider it in the future. (He also left me with a couple of little rubber duckies which made my dog happy!) I was quite pleased with my overall experience with Maeser and would not hesitate to recommend the company to others.
Description of Work: A/C system was not cooling. Because I do not tolerate heat well I keep my house quite cool and work the A/C hard in the summer. Serviceman inspected, cleaned unit, and got it working properly. He then explained Maeser's Preferred Maintenance Plan. I signed up for maintenance on both A/C and heating; total for year's membership was $185 which covered that day's service. A few days later the unit began making a loud noise and I called Maeser again. A serviceman came out and checked it out; it had quit making the noise and was working fine by then. No charge. A couple of weeks later the unit failed and this time serviceman determined that motor was burned out and needed to be replaced. That was done at member discount rate and came to $380.80. The unit was eight years old and had not required any repair until then. In November I got a call from Maeser reminding me that I was due a furnace cleaning and inspection on my plan. Although I did change furnace filters I had totally neglected annual cleaning and maintenance so the furnace was very dirty. There was no charge for the service; I paid $93.06 for a replacement part which was a discounted rate.

I called Maeser at about 4:30. At 5:00 they called to tell me they were on their way. At 5:10 he was here and did the work. He left by 5:40. In fairness to other customers, I should mention that I live very near Maeser's headquarters in JTown. I was really impressed by their speed and customer service. I used the Angie's List coupon, so the price paid reflects the $25 discount. I would definitely call this company again.
Description of Work: I came home from work and the heat wasn't on. The fan was blowing, but there was no pilot light. When the HVAC technician came, he found that a wire to the pilot had broken. Serviceman came sooner than was expected which was a pleasant surprise. He was very courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. After getting the details about needing the toilet replaced with the one already purchased, he gave a sritten price quote and then also a price quote that would include replacing the old turn-off valve and tubing attached to the water pipe. The price for all which included the toilet replacement and valve and tubing replacement was a fair one so he began work immediately. Worked very efficiently and even completely cleaned the area after the old toilet was removed and then cleaned again after the new toilet was completely installed. Very professional job. My wife and I couldn't be more pleased. Recommend Maeser Master Services very highly!
Description of Work: I called about 9:00 a.m. on the morning of 11-13-12 and requested that someone come and give us a price for replacing a toilet. Told it would be probably sometime between 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.which we agreed to. At 10:15 a.m. the receptionist called and said they were on their way and I was very pleased. Upon arriving, they entered and surveyed exactly what would be involved in removing the old toilet and installing the new one (which I had already pruchased) and gave me a quote on paper which included an optional replacing of the old valve and tubing hook-up to the water line. I was satisfied with the additional cost for the new materials as well as the cost for the toilet replacement. The serviceman was extrememly efficient, courteous and professional in every way. I could not be more pleased with the work he did. WOULD DEFINITELY USE this company again and would probably request this same young man named Steve.
