Jarboe's Plumbing, Heating & Cooling

Jarboe's is always an excellent experience. The tech called ahead as promised. He was thorough in explaining the problem and had the repair made quickly. He even came inside to change the filter (because I couldn't reach).

This plumber is not licensed in the state of Indiana. My Angies List membership is based on my address in Southern Indiana.

I had a royal mess down the basement. They charged me with the normal price. They have a friendly service. The boys are young and friendly. They seemed to know what they were doing. It was a tough job. They earned their money the other day when they carried the water heater from the basement. It was heavy and they got it out. I would highly recommend them. I've been using them for years.

They replaced a 15 year old hot water heater that served our master bathroom. We had never had problems with enough hot water until then, but after they replaced it we could hardly take a shower without running out of water. We called them back out and Jarboes said it was our balancing valves in our shower that were failing. They charged us $640 to work on them and ultimately broke them and we were without our shower for 3 weeks. We brought in a qualified plumber who took apart our balancing valves and got them working and said our problem was the new hot water heater was only working at half capacity. As the hot water heater was still under warranty we called Jarboes back. They said that our 75 gallon hot water heater is producing 45 gallons of hot water and that they would not do anything. We are out over $3,500 now over their incompetence and paying to replace the heater with another contractor.

The guys who showed up were professional and did an excellent job. The work was done quickly and efficiently and tested the grill and tested the entire outside line for leaks. The price felt a little high, but honestly, I have nothing to compare it to as this is the first plumbing/HVAC call I have made in the Louisville area.

I was having my basement waterproofed when it was discovered that my sewer line was damaged and was in need of immediate repair so that the waterproofing could be completed. The guys responded within an hour of calling and immediately sized up and estimated the job and were able to start the repair immediately. I have used Jarboe's for many different services over the years whether it was HVAC, plumbing, etc and their service seems to get better with every call. I HIGHLY recommend calling Jarboe's for competitive pricing and excellent service.

The plumber arrived on time. He was very nice and did a great job in replacing the kitchen faucet. I had already purchased the faucet and was not charge for the service run(had a coupon). If I had paid for the service run the price would have been over $400.00. Jarboe's has great employees and they do a great job, but the way they price jobs, 1 price fits all needs to be changed. The job only took approx. 1hr.and that price is outrages for replacing the faucet which was a straight take one out and putting the new one in.

BEWARE!!! MAKE SURE YOU GET 1-2 MORE ESTIMATES BEFORE CALLING JARBOE'S. THEY ARE INCREDIBLY OVERPRICED! First of all, this was mainly my fault because I didn't get an estimate from them over the phone and allowed them to do the work, so PLEASE don't make the same mistake I did. I will feel much better if I can help others avoid overpaying. They have a 'book' of standard charges for everything they do. They charge $749 to install a 1/3 HP sump pump. I realize now that most plumbers in the area will do this for $350-$450. What they seem to be doing is setting their prices based on the most difficult and time-consuming scenario for the job. For example, my sump pump installation took 2 hours and they installed around $275 worth of parts (mainly the sump pump and check valve). I would value this at $500 at the absolute most. Now maybe if it was a difficult installation for some reason, it might take 4-5 hours and more closely justify the $749 charge, but even then, I doubt it. They're also charging you for a labor warranty on the sump pump itself, which should be an option, not built in to the price. They have a 'discounted' price list, but those prices are only for those who buy a $99 'service plan', and those are usually rip-offs. I bought the plan, only because the discounted price for the sump pump replacement was more than $99 less than the regular price, so it actually saved me a few bucks. I complained about the pricing to the local plumbing manager, but he said the best he could do is give me $25 off the service, which only amounts to 3%. To go along with other reviews, this is not the Jarboe's you may have dealt with in the past - they are now "True Home", and are no longer a locally-run business. The local plumbing manager told me he has no influence on the pricing - they have to charge prices from the 'book' that corporate gives them. The majority of the A ratings that Jarboe's has received are from the past, before they were bought out. READ THE REVIEWS FROM MID-2013 TO THE PRESENT! Those will give you a much better idea of what Jarboe's really is now, and you will probably be wise to call someone else. I will say that the plumber that came out was a nice guy, mainly knew his stuff (did not know about radon testing code in Louisville) and arrived promptly. I also did not have any issues with scheduling, so I can't really complain about the service. So maybe if you have money to burn, they might be a decent choice. But it sounds like others have had issues with service, and that doesn't surprise me.

I provided the fixture. The electrician removed malfunctioning one and installed new one. Easy access and he was able to stand on the floor while doing the job. From start to finish it took less than 1/2 hour. I definitely agree with several other reviewers that Jarboe's is not the company it used to be. They have definitely drank the kool aid and have willingly sacrificed their reputation in order to partner with a company that does not have the same standards and professionalism as the former Jarboe's. I'm sure it's all about the money. Even though I have had a good experience with Jarboe's plumber, Joe, I reluctantly will not be calling them anymore. Just read the canned responses given to other reviewers' bad experiences. No specific resolutions, pledge to provide good service, hope you use us again, blah blah blah. A couple months after this electrician gouged me, I contacted another one to replace a light fixture that I provided. He also installed a wall outlet branched off an existing circuit. This job took about an hour and cost me $129. A Professional Installation is what I expected and that's exactly what I got at a very fair price.

Since we hadn't received a maintenance reminder card from the former company when it was due and no digital message appeared on the thermostat, the new company didn't charge for a service call. We had a new filter on hand. Steve was punctual, called to ask about our problem and came right out. He wore shoe covers, was polite, took care in checking our system and showed us how to check the filter's unused capacity. It was late evening when we called. The call desk person was polite and reassuring too. I had my service calls/ maintenance receipts from the previous company on hand.

Plumber came late -- even though they requested via phone that I meet them 30 minutes prior to our agreed time. I rushed home only to get a later phone call that they would be coming later . . . with no time given. Plumber assessed the problem to be a frozen pipe, did not offer to thaw the pipe, and recommended a change in the plumbing to prevent this in the future. He said he would not accept the Angie's list coupon but would give me an estimate for the recommended plumbing work. I advised him not to bother with the estimate, paid him, and sent him on his way. This is clearly not the Jarboe's of old. I should have gone with the trustworthy Danhauer Plumbing. MUCH more reputable!

He was clean and conscientious. We were given a choice of several bid options. Plus with the bid we selected, Jarboe's work is guaranteed so if we ever have the same problems again, they will come back and take care of it, no charge.

They forced me into a contract saying that the Honeywell 8000Touchscreen thermostat would cost $465.00 without the contract. With the contract, it would only cost $395.00 plus $189.00 for bi-annual service calls (for a total of $584.00). I have called four competitors who have told me that without a contract the range for that thermostat and installation would be between $275.00-$400.00. Jarboe's/TrueHome has also set the thermostat so that I now can't program it. I called them a week ago saying that I was upset over the price they charged and that I cannot program the thermostat and have yet to hear anything from them. When the service technician was here on 10/23/13, he told me that they would set up a date for the service call for my furnace and I have not heard from them about that either. I don't know how a service could be any worse than this. The service started off well and the technician was good, they just have been completely unresponsive since the service and with the issues that have arisen.

I first want to start by saying I had used Jarboe's for 2 years prior to this and have never had a complaint about service. Prices were always a touch on the high side, but the great service made up for it. This company is NOT Jarboe's and should not even be listed on here as Jarboe's/True Home. Basically whoever True Home is, bought out Jarboe's and paid for their years of great service and reviews. Now, normally this would be all good and well if they kept on doing the same. But the prices have gone up and quality and service have gone down. Don't be fooled by all of the reviews on here about how great this company is. They all refer to Jarboe's BEFORE it was bought out by True Home. I strongly recommend staying away from this company and I will not use them again in the future. The fact that they still have all of the reviews from when they were actually Jarboe's is very misleading and I'm quite disappointed. As far as my service went - called on Tuesday 1/7 at about 5:30 PM. Asked if somebody could come out that evening as there was water gushing into my basement. They said the earliest they could come was the following afternoon...okay. Show up next afternoon, spend 20 minutes looking at the pipes and say we can fix it for $400, but not until Monday 1/13, and by the way that'll be $79. They showed up today, 1/13 and fixed the pipes nearly a week later. The scheduling and service were comparable to a Craigslist plumber who would have charged $150 or less for this work. Unfortunately they will continue getting business based off of the great service that the previous owners provided. My hope is that at least somebody reads this and avoids the very misleading information. Just look at recent reviews - they're all junk for a reason, this company is now junk. It is just going to take a long time for all of the bad reviews to start catching up with them.

I don't have anything bad to say. I've used them a number of times. They are always on time. They don't gouge you on prices. They've done plumbing work for me on my bathtub. We had a leak in our tub and they took care of that. For the water heater, they put in gas lines. They put a vent into the back. They did electrical work. One guy did it all. It was just the one little storage room. They were always polite. They cleaned up after themselves. I'm always very comfortable with whomever they send out. They're very nice and personable. You don't feel like they're casing your house or whatever.

I called on 10-November to schedule a routine furnace cleaning and discovered this company has been sold. Phone was answered by what sounded like a large answering service. I was told it would be $109.99 for them to clean my furnace, which seemed a bit high since there are commercials running on our local TV station now from another company for $69 for furnace cleaning. Then they said the first appointment they had open was January 10, 2014. Seriously??? Two months from now? I've used them before and they were good, but they apparently don't need repeat customers. They either don't have enough employees or have no interest in customer service. Either way - they've lost me.

Called in the morning and they came in the same afternoon. Replaced water supply lines on two toilets. Repairs were completed in less than 30 minutes. Everything was great until he presented the invoice total of $258.00. It was $79 for the service run pluse $179.00 for the repairs. I said the charges seem excessive to me. When I presented a competitor's coupon, he took off $20.00 and I paid $238.00. I contacted the company through their web page for an explanation, but no response. Good plumbers. High prices.

While the work they did looked nice, they had to come back three times to get it right. It was leaking after they left the first time, then the second guy made it too tight and it cracked. And as far as professionalism, one of the repair men's crack was showing the entire time he was doing the job, and of their four visits, they only showed up on time once. I would not use them again!

It was a little expensive I thought but then I really didn’t have anything to guide me. They did a good job. They have very nice service people and quality service people. They are clean, neat and courteous. They did the job and got out. He actually stayed longer than he needed to help me. It was a very good experience.

I had a 'free service run offer from this company offered to Angie's members.

I contacted them to fix my heater. The first call was routed to an answer machine. Then, I received a call to arrange an appointment. However, the first available time did not work with my schedule. The second available time slot was three days later. Remember, it is chilly and the heater was completely off. It was 55 in the bedroom. I can not wait for three days.

I'm not sure if most people know however this company has bought Jarboes, and needless to say their service has gone down hill. I had used Jarboes in the past for plumbing, heating and cooling along with electrical work. They were wonderful!!! All the service people who I have had any experience with were great!! Unfortunately the call center is now in Indianapolis and they have no idea how to schedule anything. My husband called True Home last week to schedule a plumber to come out and put in a new sink, disposal and faucet. We specifically asked for the plumber that we had used previously. The plumber we asked for had done previous work for us before with Jarboes and he was great! They scheduled it for today between 1-3, which was fine. The call center called and told us that the plumber was at another job and there was an issue and he could come between 3-5. That was fine also, I know plumbers run into problems and we were flexible with the time. Then they call around 3 and say the plumber cannot make it however they can send someone else out. We were fine with that too. Well another hour passes and the plumber shows up and states he will not have enough time to do the job!!! This is after waiting all day to get this done. So I guess their call center didn't bother to tell the plumber what needed to be done at our house. It was going to be 75.00 for the estimate the plumber gave us, which is ridiculous. I don't understand why they don't do free estimates. My husband complained about the service since they have been sold and the plumber apologized and told him that the call center was up in Indianapolis. He also said the service people were giving out their cell phone numbers to clients because of the issues with the call center. He was very nice and didn't charge us for the estimate. Unfortunately for them though they have lost a customer. I told my husband I am going to look for a plumbing company that was local. It's sad too because I loved Jarboes and thought they were great. Too bad they had to sell out.

Used to love Jarboes. They never were anything but helpful. Now new owners and it seems like everything has changed. $79 service fee, which by itself is fine, but there was no diagnostics included. They wanted 139 each for two toilet repairs and 129 for the shower clog, but they never even looked at any, just gave the price. The one toilet was a tiny, 2 minute chain unwind. The other toilet may have needed a full rebuild, but by then I was disgusted. They just expected me pay whatever they said, regardless of underlying problem. They finally relented on the one toilet. The clog needed unclogging, no issue there.

This work was done for my sister and here is what she told me. They came out said they did not work on Goodman Heat Pumps although when she talked to them before they told her they did and it shows that on Angie's List as well. They wanted to put Carrier parts in the Goodman unit. It is only 4 years old and still under warranty. Then they said they weren't sure if that would work so they wanted to send an "Engineer" out to see and charge more money. She called and canceled any future visits and is working with another company now.
