 + -1 moreI called this company to repair a freon leak in my central A/C unit and to check a programmable thermostat I'd had installed about 6 months previously by someone else. Service tech arrived on time, unfamiliar with the thermostat, he called the manufacturer who talked him through the installation step-by-step until they realized I needed an outside sensor for the thermostat to operate properly, which I didn't have. I had to buy another thermostat, which required the tech to come back, but he quickly installed the unit and fixed the freon leak. He could have charged me for two service calls ($75/each) since he had to come back, but he only charged me for one. I think the thermostat was a little high, but it works! And works well, so I don't have any complaints.
Description of Work: Programmable thermostat wasn't working, so I called Zipper to come out & check it's operation and I suspected a freon leak in my A/C unit.

Description of Work: I have used Jarboe's four times now. Three for plumbing issues and once for HVAC. My first experience with them was when I needed my bathroom drain lines for the tub and sink replaced. I had gotten multiple estimates ranging from $1400 to $450. Joe did it for $400. After that I never bothered getting estimates for the other two plumbing jobs. I just called Jarboe's and asked that Joe do the work. He knows how to do it right the first time and I am confident the price will be fair. The HVAC issue was to replace my T-Stat. Jarboe's is the designated provider for my extended warranty on my HVAC system. They were here the next day after calling and did it right. I mistakenly thought the stat wasn't working right and called them. The next day, the owner Jeff and one of his techs was here. They found nothing wrong and it was just my unfamiliarity with the new stat.

Technician, Joe, was very personable and took time to explain a few basics to us. We do plan to use in the future to help redirect some sump pump piping.
Description of Work: Clean clogged shower drain, replace showerhead and faucets in 2 bathrooms, redirect a sump pump pipe (estimate).

 + 1 moreYou know how sometimes little things pile up? When we turned on the furnace this year, the upstairs humidifier leaked. So we just turned it off. Then the water heater leaked a wee bit and the water didn't stay hot long, well shoot, it was still enough for a shower. Finally, the downstairs furnace started making an ungodly racket. Jarboes is local, so I checked Angie's List, saw their good reviews and they sent someone by noon. My technician introduced himself at the door and put covers on his shoes. Within 3 minutes he knew what was wrong with my furnace. BTW, could he look at the water heaters? Even though he was an HVAC guy, within three minutes he pointed out that the fittings on one were corroded out, leaking and corroded through the top, and the second one didn't fire up. And how about that humidifier? What, it has a filter you're supposed to change once a year? So I guess eight years of build up will gunk it up enough that it stops being a filter and becomes a dam. Look, we didn't have humidifiers on furnaces when I was growing up. Through all of this, my technician was very nice and reassured me that many folks don't know about humidifier filters. Didn't compare on prices, but it seemed reasonable. Last time I replaced a water heater it was in 1998 and my best friends fiancee did the work, so my frame of reference is probably off. I'll pay more for prompt, courteous, knowledgeable service, don't know if I did, but I will. And all in all, they solved all of my problems within 24 hours. Just getting estimates would have taken much more time, and that I don't have. Definitely recommend.

 + 1 moreWe thought that the leak was on the inside of the basement, but it turned out to be just outside. The leak inside was water seeping through the hole in the basement wall through which the main water line came into the house. It required digging a five foot long trench that was about 3 feet deep, placing a water turnoff valve inside, replacing a one foot section of copper pipe outside, and backfilling the trench. Things look very good right now but I will wait to enter the quality grade in a couple of months.
Description of Work: We had a water leak right at the point where the water line came through the basement wall.

I was told that the woman who does the scheduling was on the other line so the one who answered took down my information and said she would call back. I continued to call other companies and was becoming discouraged because the earliest appointment I could get was for Friday, and then who knew whether they would actually be able to fix it then or if we would have to wait 'til the following week. It was maybe two hours later and I had given up on Zipper calling me back when I noticed I had a missed call on my phone. It was Zipper saying they had someone on the way to my house! It's a good thing my husband was home! :) Anyway, they came out THAT DAY and we were able to go ahead and start melting the ice that had formed inside the unit. The next morning we called and the tech had already set up an appointment for THAT MORNING. They got it working again in less than 24 hrs. and we couldn't have been more pleased.
Description of Work: We had a freon leak in the AC unit so it was running, it just wasn't cold. They got it up and running just as soon as the HUGE block of ice that had formed inside the unit had melted.

Description of Work: Serviced and cleaned three heating systems and three A/C units. Replaced outside faucet. Re-piped gas line to cook top, installed two new tub stoppers and one tub diverter and faucet, and replaced one exhaust fan.

 + 1 moreMuch faster than expected. When I called, the very friendly receptionist told me they could have a crew to my house after lunch. At 10:00 AM, she called and said they could come right away! I called at 8:00 AM, they were here at 10:00 AM and finished by 11:30 AM. They were here 2 hours ahead of schedule! The two men were very professional, friendly, worked hard and did not leave a mess. I went solely off of Angie's list and would definitely call Jarboe's for future work. The price was excellent.
Description of Work: We had a natural gas leak and the utility turned off our gas. Two plumbers came to do our work. Greg and the other plumber replaced two shut off valves, pressure checked the entire system and tightened another leaking valve by our gas dryer.

We chose Jarboe's out of the phone book & they showed up that afternoon when our regular furnace company said they couldn't be here till the following day. Jarboe's not only showed up that afternoon, they were pleasant, neat, courteous and fixed the problem right away. Needless to say, they are now our heating/cooling company of choice. We also used a phone book coupon for $10.00 off.
