They were great. It's a wood-framed house. I would have liked them to be cheaper but some other people would say their price would be $2500 more than that. I had a couple of companies come by and quote $2000 but that didn't include any of the stuff needed. All in all I was very satisfied with their work. They consulted with me about the colors that I was using and where I wanted it for and stuff like that. They worked with me great and they got the job done. I didn't care too much on how long it took. They did a good job painting, it looks good and the price was better than some.
Description of Work: They did my exterior painting.

Byron is a deceptive contractor and I strongly urge you not to trust him. I had a coupon for HouseWorks which was supposed to be applied after the quote, but he did not even honor it!! He claimed that the discount was already applied, which is complete nonsense, as he had no way of knowing I had a coupon. That is fraud and it reflects the way he does business. I went ahead with him because the price was reasonable and I needed my house painted quickly, but I came to really regret working with him. Byron painted my house but did not do a very good job. The previous paint was not scraped adequately in many places and in fact started peeling in some places shortly after being painted. Byron and I played phone tag trying to get him out to fix it but it seemed like he just didn't care that I wasn't satisfied and wanted to be done with me. Before he ever fixed the paint job he left messages saying that he was going to contact his attorney if I didn't pay him the remainder. He was threatening me with an attorney when he is the one who distributed coupons that he wouldn't honor. I paid him and washed my hands with him. I should have sued him, but I am not litigious, so I decided I would just warn everyone else. Do not give this charlatan your business!
Description of Work: Byron scraped and painted the second floor of my house.

Response from Houseworks LLC
HouseWorks is not a deceptive operation and we typically release a list of over 30 satisfied customers in our Reference List who can vouch for the fact that we take pride in our work and execute all details in a professional and workmanlike manner. Member implies that we did not honor a specific discount we had released thru ValPak. He states that we had no way of knowing he had the coupon. In fact, we already knew Member intended to utilize this discount (thru the ValPak discount coupons) as it was THE ONLY MARKETING we were implementing at the time. In fact , we made it easy on the entire community by offering the same discount structure to everyone in the community, regardless of their knowledge of it. Member was given the original quote which already clearly included said discount , but he waited over 30 days to respond to our repeated requests for payment. He attempted to buy some more time(we're assuming he had financial trouble, being a young homeowner and not yet responsible for the upkeep that a home requires) by claiming that there were some "problems" with our paint product and application. We returned to the home site, still completely unpaid, and went over the entire exterior to ascertain what "problem" he was referring to. We saw one issue that indicated that some high trim work was further deteriorated, we made a repair free of charge and still had to wait another 2 weeks for payment. Member made no indication to us that work performed was deficient in any way. He simply complained that he didn't get his "discount", which, of course he did. After waiting over 30 days for any payment on this project, Member then claimed he was out of town as his mother was in ill health. We can certainly affiliate with people being under great stress in day to day life, but we always strive to take pressure off our customers. We want to be the problem solvers, not creators of unnecessary drama. As our workmen performed their daily tasks, we had several questions for the young, homeowner couple. Time and again, Member's wife would simply look out her door as we knocked or rang the doorbell for guidance on specific questions. She made every attempt to avoid contact with us, which is very strange. Perhaps, as with one other unfortunate work experience we've had in the last few years, there was some type of emotional/psychological problems with the homeowners that we were not aware of. It's very difficult for a vendor to know if the homeowner is good to honor their word and contractual obligations. If you drive by Member's home on 2344 Valley Vista Road 40205, you'll see a very good paint job from 3 years ago. He paid $2,935.00 for this project, which was marked down $500. from $3,435.00. He still thinks claims that a $700.00 discount was in order(which is not possible at this rate level) so he presumed $700.00 should be deducted from the already discounted rate of $2,935.00. Unfortunately he was attempting a "double dip" and became frustrated that our accountants did not allow such shenanigans. He is the only customer in over 4 years of running these discounts that has suffered from any type of confusion about the multi-tiered discount structure, but we feel that it was more than mere confusion. He was simply attempting to get something for nothing. Homeowner do need to be aware of unscrupulous contractor and vendors. But it has also been our experience that vendors must be vigilant against unscrupulous homeowners who are attempting to manipulate great offering such as ours. It is difficult at times to ascertain which homeowners might not be mentally and emotionally stable while you are attempting to offer the best of your services to as many customers as possible. We vendors must be vigilant to pre-qualify all homeowner requests, however we have had at least 4 homeowners in the past 6 years who have narrowly avoided court proceedings while attempting to manipulate our operation and its service providers. We aim to please, but you can't please everyone all the time if some are not of sound mind and attitude.
