On 4/13/23 I had a new roof installed by HKC Roofing Louisville KY. I am very pleased with the results from start to finish. Blaine Galle sales manager that first came out to look at the roof was great...No high pressure sales pitch form him unlike some of the other roofing companies I had to look at the roof. He listened to me first then showed me what HKC Roofing had to offer. The installers were great also. They did the job in one day and I am very pleased with the end results. I would recommend HKC Roofing to anyone that needs a new roof. It is a big decision to make and HKC is a honest company that will do a great job.. Bob Szappanos

These guys are amazing!! They installed my roof a few years ago, due to weather I had a nail pop . They came out and fixed it for me, on time and very professional!! Super nice guys!!!

Very Good, did a very good good and cleaned the place up very good.

Tried for nearly 4 weeks on and off to get a proper quote. Saw their ads with the "family" read some good reviews on yelp (I know, not the most reliable review source), then saw here how they just disappear and I can say without question that happened to me as well. My take is that if you are not a multi-thousand dollar job, they simply aren't interested. Have no idea how good of a job they would do because they simply blew me off. Obviously won't hire them or consider them in the future and will let any other property managers or individuals know my exp when they ask me about roofing needs.

The work took only a couple of hours maybe. There was one worker who came to do the job. For the most part he left the area clean when he was finished.

They came out and looked it over and we never heard from them again. No call, no quote!

It seemed to go well. Only issue we had was cleaning up between the two days they worked on the project. The crew did not clean up in front very well. They did in the back. When the project was finished they cleaned up pretty well. The company's inspector came by to look at the roof and my wife told him about a few things they did not take when the work crew left the site. He took a good look around the place. Over all they seemed to do good work for the price they quoted.

Did a very good job; did not tell me I needed things that I didn't.

They did an excellent job. They did it in a timely manner and I have had no problems with the workmanship. All of the employees were professional and friendly.

HKC was professional and did a wonderful job! They arrived when scheduled, worked until after dark, cleaned and returned the next morning to finish cleaning up. We had a small problem with getting the final bill because some adjustments had to be made (in our favor), which caused them to call several times wanting to know why we had not paid. Once the confusion was corrected all was well. Our roof is beautiful and we would definitely recommend HKC to others needing their roof replaced.

I had no problem with the roofing, but I would never recommend HKC for gutters. In the fall of 2010, I contracted with them for new roof and gutters with gutter guards. At the time they told me that they may not have time to schedule the gutter job for that season, but would complete it in the spring, and I agreed to those terms. They installed the new roof without incident and I prepared to wait for the new gutters. In January of 2011, in the middle of a snowstorm, however, two men showed up in my yard and began laying out their tools, ladders, and sheets of aluminum. I asked them to stop and come back when the weather was more appropriate because I was worried about both their safety and the quality of the work they might do in such conditions. They insisted on working even so. They put up the gutters, but couldn't finish the job because of the wet conditions. When I received a bill for the job, I paid half, and explained that the balance would be paid when the work was completed. Several weeks later, the job still hadn't been finished, but I received a dunning letter from HKC threatening legal action for the unpaid balance. When I complained, HKC quickly sent its team back to complete the job and I paid the balance. That was a mistake. The next time it rained, I discovered that the gutters still don't drain properly. They still leak and they still overflow. The gutter guards do not prevent debris from getting into the gutters. They only make them harder to clean, and they allow sheets of water to pour from the roof whenever it rains hard. Drip, Drip, Drip. There are little pockets of erosion at every corner where the gutters fail, reminding me over and over of the money I wasted with HKC. One of these days, I'll have to hire someone else to do the job right.

We were extremely pleased with the work crew. They showed up on time and worked hard during the day. The roof looks great. We were so pleased with them that they are going to install siding for us in the next couple of weeks.

The salesman suggested using a roof top vent in place of box vents which I really like the look. The put the roof on while I was at work. When I can home from work I would not have known they had been there if it was not for the new roof. A couple days later an employee came by to inspect the job and see if I had any questions or concerns. Would definitely recommend this company. They filed my insurance claim in a timely manner also.

I had a representative come right out. After that, they were impossible to get back out. I even called the General Manager. He promised immediate reaction. I still have not heard back. I have a check from my insurance and HKC is not interested in receiving it.

Actually got my Angie's List membership so I could specifically warn people against this company. At first they seemed great. . . very proactive, worked with my insurance, very responsive, etc. As soon as I signed on the dotted line, it was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It took more than a month for them to come out and begin work on our house (we had a tree fall on our house, ripping off an eave and exposing the attic above our garage). Before I signed, they made it sound like they could come out immediately. After I signed, they said it'd take a and quot;couple weeks.and quot; After 2 weeks went by, I called and they said and quot;next week.and quot; They said and quot;next weekand quot; for 3 more weeks. When the workers finally came out, it was 2 guys by themselves (no forman) and neither spoke English. They worked about 2 hours a day and took a week to finish what should have been a 1 day job. When they stopped showing up, the new wood they put up was still raw (unpainted) and no gutters were put in place. After a few days, I called the office again asking why they aren't finishing, and I was told they were done. I asked about the gutters, and they told me the sub-contract that out and I'd have to wait for that company to contact me. When I asked if the wood needed to be painted before gutters go up, they said, and quot;that wasn't included in the quote.and quot; Luckily I had some paint left over from the last time we painted our house. It took another 2-3 weeks for the gutter people to come out. Now, half a year later, we're having our roof inspected by insurance for hail damage, and they are pointing out all the things they screwed up. Shingles aren't on straight and are not fastened down properly. They used caulking to hold loose shingles down, and now some are missing. The joists they replaced aren't fastened very well. The whole experience has been horrible from beginning to end.

It has been very going very well; they still have to come out and finish it up. We had a bit of a communication problem. I will continue to use them.

Very well, two things came up . My wife steped on a nail in the back as we were going out. I had them come back to see if the one part could be done again.They came back and had no problems of doing that. I really liked talking with the sales person as well as the people that did the work. They all seemed to care and make good for what they were paid for. I went ahead with this roof ,because it should outlast me. Just another thing to mark off the list of taking care of the house.

My initial call to HKC was returned promptly and they were able to come out the next day for an estimate. When they arrived (on time) they had several people who made up the team to get the estimate -- a salesman who wrote estimate and several other guys who go up on the roof to walk around and identify damaged areas or potential problems. They took some photos of what they found to show me, which was a great way to show me the current state of our roof. After identifying one particular problem spot ( a warped trim piece, they actually got some metal material out of their truck, bent it, and then covered an area which could (and probably was) the area where animals were getting in. This work was done completely free of charge. After their examination, they gave me an estimate that included a more thorough (and better looking) repair for the trimwork along with other potential problems they identified on the roof. The salesman stated that all or any piece of the estimate could be done, in an al a carte fashion. After their free repair, our critters in the attic were no more. We are waiting a little bit longer to do roof work as all the other roof repairs were not an urgent need.

Where to start? Awful all around. I made a big mistake picking HKC. The sales rep was so dishonest and dismissive. He told me on two occassions they cleaned my gutters out. That it was done. And they hadn't. I had to climb up there and look for myself to see. If you have the time to read this whole review, you'll see just how often they dropped the ball. If I hadn't questioned the BS that they were throwing me I'd be out a lot more money. They quoted $500 to replace wood siding that was rotted on my dormers. 2 days before the completion of the project they say 'no, it's going to be $3500.' I freaked out and asked to talk to the guy who did the measurements. He says 'sir, I only put down what they told me to charge you.' SHADY! Then they come back and say, 'oops, our mistake, it's only $2500.' Only . . . so I rushed and got another quote from a MASTER CAPRENTER which was . . . $500 to do the same job. Yep. And for $1400 I could get all the rotted wood replaced on my whole house, not just the dormers. And he'd use a better product. HKC was going to charge me $2500 for less work and a worse product. The death blow was the wood they did replace (the stuff under the roof). Sales guy tells me at signing of contract that HKC's policy is to take pics of any wood they replace. After the work is done I get the bill, no pics. I ask where are the pics, sales guy says they don't have any - I didn't request pics be taken. It's not a big deal, just 100 feet that needed to be replaced. But I want to see pics. Manager tells me 'oh, sales guy is wrong, we have pics of the wood from your roof.' He emails me 3 pics, 2 are NOT MY ROOF! You can tell because you can see other houses in the pics and that's not my neighbors. So, the manager brings installer with him for final walk through. Installer says 'I replaced 60 feet on this house i know it!' I asked the manager 'then why the heck did you bill me for 100 feet?' He waves the cost of the wood replacement, about $250. That's the only discount I got for putting up with their crap. Read below for the story that lead up to this point. Here's my letter to HKC sales rep and the Better Business Bureau: Based on HKC’s reputation and reviews, I’ve been unpleasantly surprised by lapses in professionalism. If you recall, I got several quotes and HKC wasn’t the most affordable option but I thought I was paying for professionalism and efficiency. I have filed a complaint with the BBB to make sure these items are addressed properly, but more importantly, professionally and promptly from here on out. I’m taking this step because I know firsthand the value of the BBB code of ethics. I feel I have not received straight answers from yourself or the office staff and I’d like the BBB’s involvement to make sure it’s done right from this point forward. First, I’m concerned about the lack of planning with the wood siding. My job has been on the books for more than a month and was set to be wrapped up Friday. Friday came and went and Monday too and there was no siding installed. No one called me to tell me why. This was the second time the timeline had significantly changed without anyone telling me. So, I called this morning and spoke with someone in the office who basically said the wood wasn’t ordered or available and would take another week to come in. I explained that you’d told me I was good to schedule my house painting with another vendor, which I did, and I’m on their books for next week or the week after. Your office guy asked to call me back and in a few minutes magically wood siding was found, to be installed tomorrow. Next, I’m curious why the crew put 6 of my original windows in the basement as requested but left 3 outside in my backyard stacked against the fence. My gutters still haven’t been cleaned out, although you said they had been. If you recall, I asked why half of the gutter shields remain stacked on my front and back porch. You said the crew had cleaned out the gutters but left the guards there for the next crew to put back on. There is a black piece of metal below my back dormer that I guess is a rain shield. It was installed VERY poorly. The metal is kinked and bowed in the middle, the screws or nails that hold it down have tar or something to cover them but only cover half of each nail, not all of them. I’ve taken a picture of this that I can share if you’d like. I’d like that redone right so the metal is flat across and all nails/screws are properly covered. I would also appreciate if they’d clean up a little better. It looks as if no effort was made to sweep up large paint chips and debris that fell off during the window wrapping and someone left a large styrofoam soda cup in the back yard. You’d said cleanliness was a hallmark of your crews and I’d like that honored.

They were better than anyone else. They didn't do a great job though. They had to come back and they dented our gutters after we told them please don't do that. They wouldn't put the board up against the ladder when doing the roof because when we go out house pressure washed they said our gutters were pretty banged up. The punctuality was good. The shingles are thicker than most shingles. It looks good but we are upset about the gutters. They were higher than everyone because of the warranty. The guy was very nice to deal with. It looks nice. It was just terrible about the gutters.

My interaction with them went pretty good. They were fast and they explained everything in detail. They were real friendly.

Had insurance coverage for storm damage. The adjuster had miss priced the insurance claim. HKC worked diligently with the second adjuster to properly price my claim. I paid the deductable and decided to pay extra for the lifetime roof. The shingles were priced fairly and well worth the extra money. His crew showed up when promised and did an excellent job including not leaving any scraps or nails in my yard. My valleys in my roof were treated with a special material to prevent leaks. I had some problems before with minor leaks during heavy rain prior to the current storm damage. I have not had any problems since. MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY ARE ONE OF ONLY A FEW CONTRACTORS LOCALLY WHO HAND NAIL THE SHINGLES TO PREVENT NAILS FROM TOTALLY PENETRATING YOUR ROOFING SHINGLES.

Did not have work done, only got an estimate. Went with another company with a 5yr warranty and 20yr transferrable warranty

They charged what they had quoted. They let you know when they are coming and the do a good job. They clean up when they leave. I had no complaints at all and they were professional. They are reasonable.

They did an excellent job. I was very pleased.
