We called them to come out to do the regular maintenance. He completely checked the unit, cleaned the entire fireplace and did the whole nine yards. We had never had a problem. Following this, the fireplace began to start malfunctioning. The wonderful thing about this company is their guarantee. They came right out. They replaced the wall switch (no charge). It did not fix the problem. We called them again. They came out again (no charge). This time, it was a more in depth visit. They discovered a potentially dangerous condition within our fireplace. We are fortunate to have had such expertise working with us and not overlooking important details. I would call on them in a New York minute. They are all professional, prompt, and courteous. Best money we have ever spent.....life saved!

The technician went above and beyond and showed me how to use my outdoor gas grill as well.

Very well. The serviceman was thorough and professional.

Thought it would be just a tune-up and would cost about $300. Many parts were replaced, many calls to the shop for technical support but final bill was $700. Many parts were replaced but primary fault was the small gas line was plugged. Unit works well now. I do not feel cheated. I understand that these devices can be complicated to trouble shoot.

They came over and serviced. They did a good job.

In less that an hour, the Service Tech was in and out, and my gas fireplace was fixed and back in business. She was very informative, and showed me what to do to help myself with maintenance, etc. I was also invited to call for their services every two years or so vs. waiting another seven. I couldn't be happier with this veteran owned company!

I was very pleased. Was prompt and on time. Protected flooring while cleaning. Removed inserts and cleaned thoroughly, explaining as she went along. Company representative recommended repair of on and off switch which I did not realize was malfunctioning. Attached the blower properly which had been left unattached by previous cleaning company. This company went above and beyond. I am sold. Will call only them from now on.

Service technician came in a cleaned the unit and that addressed the problem. The technician was professional and answered all of my questions. I would recommend using this service.

We had been having trouble igniting our gas fireplace. Grate Balls came to the house, fixed the problem pretty easily and did a very thorough job of cleaning out the fireplace dirt that had accumulated over two years. We now know that we should do this each year. They did a great job, and their pleasantness made it even less of a chore to have done.

They had difficulty getting the new fireplace installed and tore a hole in the firebox, slid the new insert in and packed pink insulation around it. There was no outlet inside the firebox so they left the blower without power. The fireplace worked but without a blower the heat went up into the mantle and around the fireplace cold air blew into the room. I had the whole thing taken out and replaced properly one year later with a new firebox, foam insulation, and electrical outlet. I would not recommend these folks.

When I called to set up the appointment, they said they would arrive between noon and 2pm. She called at noon and said she would arrive in about 45 minutes. She did.

The tech was very knowledgeable, and professional. At the time the tech arrived the fireplace would not start. It was cleaned and serviced, in about an hour. I have had problems with this fireplace before, and the company that worked on was the company that installed the unit when the house was built. The difference between the two companies was Great Balls of Fire wanted my business. In addition, their charge was a lot less than the other company. Will use this company again.

I had assumed I needed to replace the old gas log fireplace unit when it quit working last winter. As this winter approached, I finally began looking for a source of unvented fireplace units. Based on Angie's List reviews, I called Grate Balls of Fire and asked if they could replace the unit. They COULD have sold me a new one and made more money (and many dealers would have done just that) but the owner said it probably only needed cleaning. Fine, I agreed, but I still thought it had to be replaced. He said his workman could evaluate and let me know. The workman (the son of the owner) arrived promptly, said he was pretty sure cleaning was all that was needed and proceeded to do a VERY tidy job of the very messy process. After about an hour's work which ended with a careful vacuuming of the fireplace and surrounding area, he left a very satisfied customer and a very neat and clean and WORKING unvented gas fireplace. Incidentally, he asked if we would like a remote to turn the fireplace on and off. Since my husband has difficulty walking, that was a great (or maybe GRATE) idea. The remote control and installation charge was, I believe, $70, and my husband declares it worth three times that to him! I am very impressed with this company and highly recommend them.

After reading reviews on Angie's List about this company contacted company via email in December right before the holidays to see about having my gas fireplace cleaned. A few days later I received a reply email stating they would call me on Monday. I never received that phone call or future follow up. Decided to try contacting them again in January as the holidays had passed and this time I made contact via phone. I live in Indiana. The person on the phone was not sure if they provided service in Indiana or not. He contacted someone and they verified that they did work in Indiana and they could come that very afternoon which was impressive but I was not at home in order to have the work performed. He took my name and number and said someone would call me. That was nearly three weeks ago. Moving on to another company.

Vickie (co-owner) came out this evening and was VERY polite and VERY professional. (The fireplace had never been lit since we purchased our home, almost 3 years ago). Vickie took the time to explain everything to us (safety wise) and completed a visual inspection of the entire unit. The fireplace was cleaned THOROUGHLY. I would DEFINITELY recommend this company to anyone needing service performed on their gas fireplace. We will use them again!!

cleaning and maintence on ventless gas fireplace. They are very skilled in their profession. Highly recommended. It was a 2 wk long wait, but normal considering the season. It was worth the wait.

We have two ventless gas fireplaces, neither of which would start up this winter. Hadn't been cleaned/serviced since original installation. John came out and diagnosed the problems, cleaned and restarted both units in 45 minutes. Professional and knowledgeable and pleasant.

I called and made an appointment for the first availability, about 2 weeks out. They called a couple of days before to confirm and gave me a 2 hour window for arrival, just as they had said they would. He arrived right on time at the start of the 2 hour window that had been given. For each fireplace he took off the cover and glass. He cleaned the glass and vacuumed the area under the fire box. On both units he adjusted the flame height (and showed me how to do it myself). On one unit he adjusted the air mix to improve combustion. He was neat and left everything tidy. He was here a little over an hour.
