The salesman arrived at the correct time. We told him that we were getting quotations for carpeting the sewing room. We looked at samples and selected one, but told him that we were having some work done on the sewing room and did not have a firm completion date for the carpentry and painting work and would not sign a contract until that work was done and we had made a final decision on the carpeting company. We also told him that we might change our minds on the carpet we had chosen based on the color of paint we use on the walls of the room. He seemed very disappointed that we didn't sign a contract at that time. Two weeks later, I called Empire Today's 800- number and said we were ready to do the carpeting. The salesman returned at a time that my wife wasn't home. I told him that she wanted to see the sample to confirm that our original choice would go with the paint. He said he had already made one trip to our home and if she wanted to see the carpet, we would have to go to Empire Today's showroom about 10 miles from our home. He said we could change the carpet choice without penalty if I signed the contract now. I signed the contract and gave the salesman the 10% deposit. When my wife returned a few days later, she said we should go to the showroom with the paint chip to confirm that the colors did coordinate. I left a message on the salesman's cell phone and texted him asking for the hours of operations of the showroom. After more than 24-hours, I received no reply to either the phone message or text. Then I called Empire Today's 800- number and asked the customer service representative what the showroom hours were. She informed me that Empire Today had no showrooms and the one the salesman told me about had been closed for a long time. To me, that said that the salesman didn't know what he was talking about or he intentionally lied to me to get me to sign the contract. At that time, my wife was ready to cancel the contract even though the 72-hour grace period had lapsed. I called the 800- number asking that a different salesman come to the house to show us the samples. An appointment was set for two days hence at 1;00 pm. At 1:00 pm on the appointed date,k the original salesman called said and said he wasn't coming and he had already used too much gas for a single room job. After discussing the matter, we decided to go ahead with Empire Today since she didn't want to wait another two weeks to use her sewing room. As it turned out, the carpet did coordinate with the room decor. The two men who installed the carpet did an excellent jog, so that part of the job went well. We used Empire Today last year and had favorable results. Unfortunately, it would seem that this salesman was more interested in reducing his personal costs rather than maximizing his future sales potential. I would hire Empire Today again only if a different salesman handled our work.

I sent in an online request to have someone come to my house and give me an estimate for new flooring. The appointment was scheduled for a Friday. In order to meet the representative at my home and have plenty of time to spend with him I took the day off work. The morning that the representative was scheduled to come by he called. We spoke for a minute, I assured him I was at home and waiting for him to arrive. Before we ended the conversation he asked if my wife was going to be home. Dumbfounded that he would even ask that question I responded no that she would not. He then informed me that in order for him to come by and give me an estimate that my wife HAD to be here with me. I informed him that I was a decision maker and that my wife was at work and would not be joining us for the estimate. He again said that without her present he wouldn't do the estimate. I again informed him that she was at work and would not be joining us for the estimate. He then informed me that he would not be coming to my house to give me an estimate and that he was canceling the appointment. I then called the customer service number. They were outstanding!!! I told them about the representative here in the Louisville, Ky area not coming to the appointment for the estimate because my wife wouldn't be there and they were just as in shock as I was. I even spoke to a supervisor who tried very hard to get me an appointment with someone else here in the Louisville, Ky area on the same day. I informed her that wouldn't be necessary since I could meet them on Monday if needed since I really wanted the estimate. We set the appointment for Monday morning between 9 - 11am. Great! Monday comes and 9am turns into 10am and 10am turns into 11am and still no call from the representative. At noon I left the house to run other errands. I get a call at 12:15pm telling me that they were on the way to my house to give the estimate. I informed them that I wasn't at home, that the appointment was between 9 - 11am and that I was no longer interested in doing business with them. So, to summarize, the customer service folks were absolutely wonderful and did everything they could to try to make the situation right and to my satisfaction. With regard to the representative(s) here in the Louisville, Ky area, I STRONGLY advise to stay away from them. The customer service folks just called while I was finishing this review. I told the customer service rep, a different one, the entire story. His response, I had gotten the appointment time wrong and can I offer you a $50 certificate toward your flooring? I said no, I'm not doing business with your company and ended the call.

Everything went as promised. The installers called early as promised, arrived on time and proceeded to work very professionally and diligently to get the job done correctly. They walked me thru and explained everything to me as they went along. It went very smoothly and fast. They were very clean and put everything back as it was. It was a very positive experience. I would use them again.
Description of Work: Removed old carpet and pad. Old pad and carpet recycled. New pad and carpet installed.

Terrible. Floor is not done. They ran out of materials. They marked up walls and managed to make it so our dishwasher doesn't fit under the counter anymore. This is a disaster and no one at the company cares. I pointed to a broken piece of quarter round they installed and I was told to putty it. SERIOUSLY.We took photos and a customer service rep called us liars. Customer service has all the same lines they give over and over. I cannot describe in great enough detail how horrible this company is. I would never recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Installation of Laminate flooring in kitchen began on 8/17/2012. Update: They had to visit three times where we then hired someone else to fix the floor. By the way, from what I have researched Rebekah Clerk does not exist.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!! THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT OR TAKE CARE OF ISSUES YOU HAVE. i SPOKE WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ON ONE OCCASION AND SHE WAS HORRIBLE. YOU COULD TELL SHE REALLY DIDN'T WANT TO HEAR MY ISSUES OR PROBLEM.
Description of Work: Very poor service. Carpet was installed in November 2011. I was put off on multiple occasions and took off work several times to be there and they called to report carpet was not in, and other problems. Once Installed it was the wrong color, not the carpet I ordered and they have yet to fix the problem. I did a childs room, landing, and steps. I choose a brown tone and the carpet is white. They ran out of carpet (didn't order the correct amount I can only guess). I called them immediately about the problems (wrong color and wrong carpet) and have yet to get it resolved. The installer returned (another day missed at work) to finish the steps and I advised him of the problem with color and carpet. He installed the step carpet anyway as that was what he was told to do. Again, I have made multiple calls to Empire and have been given multiple numbers to call as they just keep sending me to someone else. I spoke on one occasion to a customer service represent. UPDATE as of 06/05/12: New carpet that was originally chosen was installed but I would still not recommend Empire as their customer service was horrible and it took nearly six months to right their wrong.

It was great. They moved the furniture for me. They came in and didn't mess around. They were willing to come the next day, but I didn't want them to. When they did come it only took them about three or four hours and they were quiet while working. I tried to give them something to drink because it was a hot day, but they said no because they had their own, which is unusual.
