He was the second person to look at the furnace. The first said the part was broken and it would be the next day before they could get a part. This was New Year's Eve, so I was skeptical. The first guy said they were likely going to be open. I said OK, but then Greg from Cotton Service Company showed up and took a look. It was indeed in need of a new part, but he stated that the earliest they could get it would be Tuesday. The parts warehouse just wouldn't open until then. Since that was 2 days away and it was 3 degrees outside he looked at how it was not working. After working on it for a several minutes got it work. While it was noisy it worked and we had heat. So, not only did he tell me the truth up front about the price, the time it would take, but he also did what he could and managed to give us heat until he was able to replace the broken part. There isn't a positive rating high enough. They have excellent customer service and customer facing skills. They are the example of what a service company should be.

Great! This is a new house for me and the technican was great about explaining all the parts, how things work, etc. He also noted a small leak in my hot water heater near the furnace. Though he couldn't fix it, he took a quick look to make sure it was an emergency type of repair and I appreciate him letting me know so I can get it taken care of.

My condo building endorsed another company & they give us a deal due to volume of service in the building. Regardless, I bought the Cotton offer on Angie's list after reading all the glowing feedback even though I never heard of the company. 2 guys showed promptly. I am happy to get such prompt attention to this as well as the good price. 99.9% sure I did not say anything to offend anyone. Yet I heard plenty of insults about the cooling unit. The main guy (Greg, I think) did most of the talking and work). The other guy (Charles) was pleasant, professional and didn't say as much (likely a trainee). I commend Cotton for listening to my request of not adding any coolant or trying to sell me on any other coolant system. The insults started with the unit being impossible to clean due to water runoff would go on the carpeted floor. I will not comment on anything I do not know, but thought there could be some way to brush a coil or to put plastic down in order to accomplish cleaning. Anyway, that may not be feasible, but once upon a time, another company had the unit apart more and cleaned some way or another without insult. The Cotton inspection this review is about went so quickly but with more insults, that it did not seem as if all the inspection points could possibly have been attended to. So I looked at my copy of the coupon which was exactly like the one I gave your guys. I asked Greg if he did all the inspection points on there, and he said yes. It didn't seem possible, so I looked down the list and saw where they were to change all disposable filters. That was only the 3rd item on the 20 point list and it was not done. I asked and received another insult that 20 x 16 filters were not standard and likely not on their truck. So as they were leaving, I went to their truck with them in case it was and since not on truck was told that one would get dropped off at the condo office for me. This has not happened. Worthy of mention: I asked more than once about how the unit was cooling. I mentioned it seems to be cooling fine and they confirmed that with me. Regardless the insults didn't stop. As we were leaving down the hall, I mentioned my Dad was an engineer at GE for units like those in the hallways of the condo building. I don't know what I was thinking, but I am proud of my father's accomplishments and of course, Greg had to say he hates GE. That is perfectly ok since he didn't have my respect at all at this point. It just confirmed he was negative to the extent beyond the job he was hired to do.
Description of Work: Was to do a cleaning & 20 point inspection. I was hoping to have the coil cleaned and all looked at to understand working status before listing property for sale.

Dear Member, I'm sorry to hear that you felt insulted, that is never our intention. I have spoken with both technicians and have learned that your residence is in a high rise building that was initially setup to be a commercial building. Therefore the units are setup for commercial use. Commercial systems are much more difficult to clean and with it being on carpet it cannot be hosed out. Most condensers on residential units are located outside and make it possible for them to be hosed out. I am assuming this is why your condo recommends one company to do the work, as they know your building is setup for commercial and know to come prepared for commercial cleaning. While we can and do clean commercial units they are not included in the Angies List coupon. I understand your condo is residential, however the building that it is located in and the units are considered commercial. Everything that is listed on the inspection sheet you received for A/C is everything that was checked and/or cleaned. All of the items listed on the Angie's List inclusions are located on that sheet. A 20x16 filter is not a standard size and per our Angie's List, we “change standard disposable filters”. Even though your filter size was not included in the special, our technician did drop one by your condo office yesterday when we received it at our office. I believe there must be a misunderstanding about GE. The head technician that was at your property has numerous family members whom have or still work for GE. The company he came from actually had a partnership with GE and I have always heard him speak very highly of GE. I also worked for GE years ago and think very highly of the company and its numerous outreach in the Louisville area. I'm sorry if you felt he was talking negatively about GE at all. I know that was not his intention. Our General Manager whom was the lead technician that day at your condo called you yesterday to apologize for any wrong doing and to let you know that your filter was in and would be dropped off at your condo office. He relayed to me after your conversation that you did not feel insulted and that everything was fine now. Charles did a remarkable job of cleaning my furnace as well as my cooling system. He was very thorough and knowledgeable. He was able to address some of the issues where previous service providers were unable to fix. I was scheduled on the same day as well. Overall, a great buy for the amount I paid (59) in angies list. Will buy again.

I purchased the AC tune up package for my new house. The air unit is old and showed signs of a possible leak. The tech that came out was prepared with the necessary equipment to check the unit. Inspection was thorough. What could have improved the service experience would have been tips for maintenance and things to watch for in the future.

The technician called prior to showing up to give an ETA which was right on the scheduled time. He was very thorough in addressing a couple of concerns I had, while finding a couple other minor issues while checking things out. Overall a good experience, will definitely call Cotton for the next preventative maintenance as well as any emergency if needed.

Call first thing Thursday morning after realizing my AC was not functioning properly. The call was scheduled for 1pm but the technician had delays at previous appointment but they called to let me know it would be around 2 or 2:30, which was fine as i was at work and would have to get home. At 2pm the technician called, said he'd be about 20-25 minutes. I left work, he arrived less than 5 minutes after i got home. The outside unit was not function properly which he believed to be a capicator which it ended up being. After the unit started working he checked the air flow was not happy with how much cool air it was producing, so he checked the coils inside and ended up cleaning those and then added freon to the unit outside. Kenny was very professional and got the job done making sure the unit was working to his satisfaction. over the weekend, it actually got chilly in my house and i am very pleased with the results. I would definitely use them again as they responded promptly and having never used them before was pleased that they treated a new customer this way.

Thank you Cotton Service Co. Our A/C went out this weekend in our new (to us) house. Fortunately we have a home warranty, but finding a reputable company willing to come out same day and do the warranty work was a bit of a challenge. Cotton answered the call, and thank goodness the house is cooling down just in time! Becca in the office was wonderful, and the technician Kelly was prompt, fast and professional. Will definitely call them again.

A/C couldn't cool below 80 on hot summer days, and never got below 77 at night. I called Air Serv to schedule an Angie's List special offer tune-up. They sent Andrew out the next day; he quickly diagnosed the problem (coil icing up due to low Freon), but he was not able to complete the tune-up job because the compressor is on the roof of our townhouse and the ladder he had with him wasn't long enough. Safety regulations required two workers to set up a longer ladder. Andrew advised us to shut down the A/C until Air Serv could send out a two-person crew. After several hours of exchanging phone calls and waiting for the Air-Serv agent to consult with the company's owner, I was told that Air-Serv would either refund my $49 Angie's List payment and walk away, or charge me an additional $160 to send out a two person crew, but the earliest date available was three days away. It was now 4:30 PM and the temperature in my house was 85 degrees with all windows open. I called Cotton; as I waited on hold for a few minutes the operator lined up two guys willing to extend their workday to get my A/C operating. The extra after-hours charge was $125, well worth the money. Nick and his co-worker showed up in half an hour, wrestled a 30 foot ladder into position, got up on the roof and recharged the system. The bill was much less than I expected, and Nick followed up with a clear explanation and advice on what I might expect in the future. It's now two hours later, the temperature in the house is 76 degrees and falling, and I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep. If only the whole world operated as smoothly as Cotton.

I was contacted by the company rep within hours of the purchase and scheduled the visit. The company rep, Greg, was punctual and professional. At my request, he conducted an extensive inspection of the AC unit prior to cleaning and discovered the system was not functioning. Greg provided a written estimate for both replacement and repair. I thought the company was very professional from the intitial contact throughout the process. I would use them again.

He was on time and that's not typical. He showed up when he said he would and he gave me helpful tips so i would recommend him. Their quality of work was good; I mean he didn't find anything wrong so he didn't fix anything but he did a complete inspection and I went up in the attic and he showed me where the filter was and how to change it. So he was very thorough. Well, we set up the appointment and he came on time. I think there was no other, there was one interaction which was positive.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal for Cotton Service Company llc, for heating and Air conditioning. They came and checked it out and they didn't find anything wrong. They basically gave me some information; they told me to change my Thermostat and that would save me some money and so it was good.

The entire experience was good, except when it came to acually having the AC cleaned. I was not aware before the provider came out that he would need to use our outside faucet /spigot to hose down the AC to clean it. When the provider went to attach the hose he had brought, no water came out. Unfortunately, my husband and I did not know where to locate the turn on valve inside the building. Thus, the AC did not get cleaned. For future purposes, I think it would be a good idea to inform customers of items they may need to provide in order to ensure services are met. Aside from this, everything went well and it was an overall pleasant experience.

We have noted your advice to start telling our customers that our employee will need to use their outside water faucet for the last step in a complete cleaning and 20 point inspection to be conducted. Our cleaning and inspection check list consist of many items. The basics are listed below: Inspect indoor thermostat Inspect blower belt Test blower wheel balance Lubricate blower motor and bearings Inspect indoor cooling coil Check temperature differential Inspect electrical disconnect Inspect electrical component wires Test line/load voltage Measure compressor amperage Flush condensate drain line Test refrigerant pressures Inspect condenser fan blade Inspect condenser fan motor Inspect outdoor coil Replace standard 1” pleated filter Update maintenance label Clean condenser coils The only service you did not receive due to not having a functional outside faucet is that the Condenser Coils did not get rinsed; however our Service Manager said that the coils were not dirty. He also did not replace your filter since there was a brand new one in the system. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us. I called in the night before by leaving a message and I was contacted back right away that night! They scheduled an appointment for the first thing in the morning at 8 am. The technician called on the way here and was able to get me up and running in less than 30 mins. They were on time, very friendly, and performed the job properly. I will be telling everyone I know to use Cotton Service!!
