It hasn't went at all yet. He never has even come out and removed the old concrete pad, much less do any work on the new garage. The building inspector has already come by to see what progress had been made and he couldn't even believe that the man hasn't even lifted the first shovel. I think this man is a crook. After this I wouldn't hire him to build me an outhouse, much less a garage. There was also a driveway project that was available for him to do after he got this one done, and he knew that. I'm not sure what his problem is. If he over extended his crew by agreeing to do my work within 8 weeks, that would have been understandable. Everyone makes mistakes and I wouldn't have held that against him. But hes holding my garage-project hostage while he finishes up all of this other projects first. Thats not fair to me.
Description of Work: I signed a contract with Mr. Jay Burkhead on 9/9/08 to build me a garage and I had him to include on the contract that the work would be started within approx. 8 weeks and he agreed to it. He signed it as well. It has now been over 17 weeks and he has not even came out and removed the old concrete slab that was left from the old garage and he won't give me a refund of the approx. $5400.00 that I paid him in advance so I can get someone else to do the work. He just keeps telling me that hes behind on his other projects that -he says were in front of me - and he will get to mine as soon as he can. Thats unacceptable and I've contacted an attorney to file a lawsuit against to recover my money. The suit should be processed tomorrow sometime. Also, I made it very clear to Mr. Burkhead before I signed the contract that I didn't want this work to be performed in the winter because I feel that it's not a good idea for concrete to have chemicals added to it to keep it from freezing. I made sure he understood that right from the start. Now he keeps telling me that theres nothing wrong with adding anti-freeze or something else to the concrete - its done all the time. I don't care about that. I don't want it done to my concrete job and he knew that from the start.
They did a fabulous job. Their price was very reasonable, they were courteous, timely, professional and left a clean work site. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The work performed was top notch. We would use them again.
