The roof required about 3+ days in total. The gutter work required one day. Each day, the crew cleaned up thoroughly and the work was done professionally. The crew seemed "seasoned" and experienced....not just a bunch of day laborers. I asked for a "date certain" for completion on the contract, which was agreed to with no question. All told, a satisfying experience.

A guy came out to complete the work listed above and was finished within an hour or so. However, he verified that everything on the list had been completed. However, we noticed that a small section of gutter which is visable from an upstairs bathroom window had not been cleaned out. So, my husband got a ladder to look upon the roof and noticed that none of the gutters had not been cleaned. So, a complaint was made with someone at the company named Kyle Armor. He personally came out to complete the job. He was here 3 hours. It appears that the job has now been completed; but, we really don't know since all the work to be performed is upon the roof.

Overall, I was pleased with the Maintenance Package and with the company's willingness to do the work quickly.

They were good about giving my husband information.

I would say they were punctual. They also gave a good price for what they offered. They're excellent.

They came out right away and gave me a good estimate. When they came to do the work they were very efficient and did a good job.

They were there on time, looked over the entire roof, fixed the problem areas and expalined to me the areas that were fixed.

I was pleased that they actually contacted me to schedule the service after I purchased the deal. It was nice not to have to make another phone call myself--as a busy mom of two I feel like I'm always calling, running errands, etc. The technician (Matt, I believe was his name) showed up when he said he would and was dressed professionally and was very polite and respectful. He told me what he was going to do and how, etc. When he was done he let me know he had repaired a few small spots on the roof. I asked if his company replaced gutters. He said yes. I asked then if he could provide an estimate for the gutter replacement because the house is in need of them--we're trying to make some repairs and upgrades to sell the house. He said he could have one emailed to me. I said great.It's been about a month and I have yet to receive my estimate for gutter replacement. Beyond that, I was a little bit disappointed with how fast the service went. My house is small, about 1400 sqare feet, but I feel like paying $200 for 20 minutes worth of work was a bit much. I will not likely recommend them or hire them myself again as I do not feel that they were worth the money I spent.

From our first association with George Hart, we knew that choosing an Angie's List company was the way to go. While standing on our porch, he noticed that a gutter was not installed properly years ago by a different company, and he offered to take a video of it with his cell phone, emailed it to me immediately and I therefore had evidence to take to the gutter company to request repair. (I had not even noticed the gutter problem). George did all this without my even hiring his company to do our roof. Talk about customer service! His expert planning for the roof conveyed info on style and color and durability of the different shingles and companies represented. He spent considerable time explaining how important ventilation is and recommended some upgrades to our vents be part of the job. The roof was professionally installed and done on time - in just one day. The workers were courteous and though most spoke Spanish, there was a supervisor who spoke English too, so no communication problems. The 5% Angie's List discount was factored in upon job completion so an extra savings occurred. We opted for the more expensive system and were glad we did. After the June installation, Louisville had one of the rainiest seasons ever (about 70 inches for the year) and an EF-1 tornado traveling down our street last month put the roof to an extra test. Despite winds of almost 100mph (check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKe57xRppXk which I took right after the tornado to see the extent of the damage and many houses in our neighborhood wound up needing new roofs) the ONLY damage on our roof was one small section of JChannel under the siding had blown loose (which is not even a roof issue) and when I emailed George about it, he was out in two hours to repair it and secure that section. Talk about customer service! I always wonder when I read some of these reviews and they seem almost too perfect. There were two instances where perfection was not achieved. Contrary to some home owners praising their roofing companies, I DID find a few nails after the job was done, despite their sweeping with the magnet. So they are human, I can live with a few nails and picked them up myself. Also, one of the workers did put a ladder on the sunroom roof and slightly scarred the new surface. George will ensure this is repaired when the weather warms up and the material can be attended to. In short, I will take less than absolute perfection when I know the roof has endured record rainfall and a tornado, the company stands behind their work and they are this responsive in coming back to the job even 8 months later.

Their customer service was great. They couldn't install the skylight for me even though they talked me into replacing it. It leaked and I had to have it repaired, but they covered the cost of the repair. Every time that I've had customer service issues with them, they've been very responsive.

They were willing to do just what we asked them to do and did not insist on replacing the whole roof. They were also able to come quickly. I wouldn't have appreciated communication with the workers, but they did a good job.

Not sure about the date, they have been out here several times.. I have always went through my Home Owners Association. So payment came out of those funds. I would call the HOA and they were always telling me we are waiting to hear back from American Roofing.. I was copied on emails sent and we would get a return email for every 3 we sent.. They did several repairs and never fixed the problem.. I would not reccomend this company to anyone. Every job they were hired to do was never completed or was very very mediocre work.. Now that it is in my hands to take care of our roofing needs, my first thought was well we are deffinatly NOT going with these guys.. Poor communication, unsatisfactory work says it all...

The estimate was comprehensive and thorough (ultimately went with another roofer with excellent references who was materially less expensive). The first repair and estimate process were very good experiences and the company reps were very professional and pleasant to deal with. The second repair itself was handled promptly and professionally. However, when it came to billing, that was where the problem started. Because I met the roofers at my house, I knew how long they were there. When the bill came, the time listed was longer than they were at my house. I called and inquired and was told that was drive time. I asked if I was paying for drive time, why was I charged a trip charge too? Answer; we'll get back to you. Time passed I was called about the balance on the invoice. I raised the same question about the time. Got the same answer- drive time. Again pointed out the trip charge and said I did not think this was an appropriate business practice. Either I should be charged drive time or a trip charge but not both. A supervisor contacted me and stated it was not both - bill was for actual time (which I knew was incorrect) plus drive time. We weren't talking about a lot of time here, but the principle was that they did nothing to correct the situation. I paid the bill and if I ever need roofing repair, I'll go elsewhere. This billing incident turned me from someone who would have given them a very strong reference into someone who will not.

I had called 06/13/2011 and requested an estimate on a metal roof for house and garage. I e-mailed, and called on 2 more different days since I felt ample time had elapsed for a response. On 06/21/2011, after having called the office for the 3rd time, I was told the person that I needed to give me the estimate had been out of town. This man then got on the phone and stated that he would arrive @ my house shortly. I was told on the phone, prior to his coming to my house for an estimate, that metal roofing was expensive. He did arrive promptly as he had said, but never called me back to give me the estimate price. I suppose he thought I couldn't afford it!

I had one problem with them at first when they put the wrong color drip edge in but they quickly fixed the issue. At one time they pointed out some repairs that should be made in the existing frame and dId the extra work with out charge. Over all it was a good experience.

They arrived on time, with a full crew. The tear off was completed in a few hours. The team was working very rapidly. The entire house was re-shingled in one day. The job looked beautiful from the street and I was extremely happy with the way everything happened. There was a small issue of them destroying one of my screens with a ladder, but that wasn't a very big deal. If the story stopped there, I would be a happy customer. A few days later I noticed that there was no ridge vent installed. I specifically listed on the contract that I wanted one installed. I double-checked the contract to make sure it was listed and it was. I called my sales person and he was not very responsive at all. When I finally got him on the phone, he sent a crew over to install the ridge vent. It was taken care of in a few hours and all was well. If the story stopped here, I would have been a happy customer. A few months later, I was cleaning out my gutters and noticed there wasn't any roofing felt near the edge of the decking. I went all the way around the house and looked under the first course of shingles. There was no roofing felt for the first 12-16 inches around the entire house. I called again and they came out and installed the roofing felt that should have been there in the first place. If the story stopped here, I would not have been happy, but would have used them again. Fast forward to May of this year. After coming back from vacation, I noticed that the drywall under my dormer was bowed out. Upon further inspection, the drywall was completely saturated. I removed the drywall to find layer upon layer of black mold, both on the drywall and in the insulation cavity. When all the material was removed, I noticed that I could see daylight from the front side of the dormer. A closer inspection revealed that they did not flash around the dormer when the roof was installed. I was understandably frustrated and called the company. They were not very responsive, but a week and a half later, sent some workers to look at it. They both said, "we messed up when we did the install". Noting that there may have been some issues with the dormer not being 100% weatherproof, but when they replaced the roof they made the issue worse. I took them for their word and asked what was going to happen next. They told me another crew would have to come back and do the final repair. For the week that it took them to come back, when it rained outside, it would literally rain inside my house. The repair crew showed up and the worker re-iterated that the install was not right and that he would fix it. Around that time a supervisor showed up and spend the next twenty minutes telling me how this was not their fault. He showed zero compassion, or professionalism for that matter. I spent two years breathing in mold because of a shotty flashing job and I couldn't even get an "I'm sorry". I made it very clear that I documented all of these issues fully and that I would not hesitate to take legal action. A few days after the "final fix", which did fix the interior rain issue, I recieved a call from American's fixer. He was extremely polite and showed a great deal of remorse. He was very professional and wanted to know how they could make things right. He assured me that the person who did my installation is no longer with the company. I asked that they pay for the drywall repair and he consented to that remedy. I ended up paying for the work myself, just to sever the relationship. The story ends here, and I am not a satisfied customer. There was some hesitation in writing this review, because I've fixed all the issues and moved on. But, I believe I had to write it because I rely heavily upon the ratings of this site. I couldn't let someone else look at this company's rating and think they always did quality work. Every other house they work on may be done 100% right, but they had three issues with my house alone. I can say that we just moved and need some roof work on our new house. There is absolutely no way that I would even think of having this company do work on my home again.

They did everything that they said they were going to do. I was extremely pleased with the outcome. I got some other estimates and I think their price was right in line with the others on the good side. I would use them again in the future if need be.

We solicited bids from 4 local established roofing contractors. We evaluated the bids and selected American Roofing. Also, we received a positive reference from our neighbor who had used them a few years ago. American Roofing delivered shingle color samples to us and we selected the color. We scheduled an installation date. The work crew arrived in the morning and completed the job in one day. In the afternoon the weather service predicted a thunderstorm in our area so American Roofing sent another crew to our house so the job would be completed before the storm. The job was complted just before the predicted thunderstorm began. The crew did an excellent job including cleanup. All work was completed in accordance with the bid and for the price quoted. My brother is a professional architect and he commented on the excellent quality of the work done by American Roofing

The work was completed as promised within a day. Workers were professional and cleaned up after their work. American Roofing did some copper work for us in the past. We were satisfied with the work at that time, so we were comfortable contracting with them again. We will not hesitate to use this company in the future if the need arises.

The workers started on time as scheduled and complete the job on time. They were friendly, efficient, couteous, very professional. They cleaned the premises and were extremely reasonable for the price.

They were very speedy and clean. The service was perfect in all ways.

It was way more than I expected. The young man was very polite. We lived overseas for 41 years and the way businesses act here makes me crazy because nobody returns calls. He did very well with that. They were pleasant and fairly efficient in contacting me and getting the estimate back to me. This is the only estimate I've gotten so far. He was pretty good about my questions. He called to tell me that he wasn't going to be here on the appointed day.

To our delight they " Exceeded our expectations!" The weather was calling for rain the week they were to do our roof so George had two crews (17 guys) show up on a Wed., to complete our 2,200 sq ft house roof and small two stall horse barn and small shed in ONE DAY! He wanted to beat the upcoming bad weather. We did an upgrade and went with "Deck Armor" instead of tar paper roofing material and loved the product. Recommend that also!! Amazing product that improves life of roof and is 600 times stronger than felt paper or tar paper. The workers cleaned the gutters and cleaned up leaves off back deck and left the place better than they found it. George came out at end of day to inspect the work just as roofers were cleaning up and getting ready to go home. We were surprised he did that and talked with us about the project and how the workers did a few things. We only found two nails after they were done. Very professional from start to finish! I found out they also do other small jobs like cleaning gutters and more! We will not waste our time calling anyone else but this company the next time we need a roofing project done and have recommended them to friends and co-workers. They were inline or cheaper than other estimates we received, especially when you use there 5% coupon off that is on this site! Our bill didn't reflect that but I sent in coupon and a note saying I deducted the discount from payment. They billed us after job completed and never charged anything upfront. It was such a pleasure dealing with this professional company and they have pictures posted on Facebook of our roof. It turned out great. It was also nice to have them do it all in one day and done!! Amazing!! Neighbors couldn't believe it either. We did the weathered wood dimensional shingle and this company had the best warranty I could find. A 5 year on leaking, labor and material and a one time 20yr transferable warranty. If you ever sell that is a huge selling point also. We have dealt with a lot of contractors over the years and when we built a new home years ago and have to say this was the most stress free, smooth project we have ever done!!
