This is the second time I have used A Professional Installation and I am happy to say I couldn't ask for anything better than what Bruce provides. He's capable, shows up when he says he will and is fair in his prices. I think that's all any reasonable person should expect. . As I expected, the cost was in line with what I thought it would be for a job that took about an hour. .
Description of Work: Replaced a light fixture and installed an outlet.

Bruce failed to return my call the first time. Then, the next call, he responded in a timely manner and arrived on time. However, he saw the chandelier I wanted installed and then himmed and hawed, telling me he's have to discuss it with someone else. He said he would call me later that day. he did not call me until the next evening upon which he said he would not do the job!!! Seriously? An electrician can't install a chandelier in a location that is easily accessible and already had the wiring where a previous chandelier was hung??? Is it because he needed another person to help him and he has no one to help???
Description of Work: Came to see what I needed done and later said he didn't want to do the job!!!!

The job seemed easy to the customer, but she did not have the correct mounting bracket. The fixture was a one of a kind. I felt it would be better to pass on the job and that's what I did. I do get busy and calls are returned as soon as possible, sometimes that is the following day!

Initially Bruce was responsive. He came out an gave us an estimate for the work that needed to be accomplished. He was patient when we asked for several modifications on the price quote (adding and deleting specific tasks, etc.), and we greatly appreciated his willingness to work with us and help us figure out what we needed. Once we had decided exactly what we wanted him to complete, we recontacted him to schedule the work. The first day he was scheduled to come out, he had to cancel because he was feeling under the weather. He did come on the second try and completed the work agreed upon, although he seemed much grumpier this day than when we first met him (maybe he was still feeling under the weather, we were not sure). He also did not clean up after he completed the work -- dust, bits of wiring, and plastic pieces were left laying around on the basement floor. He had moved a few items that are typically stored near the circuit panel and did not put them back when he had finished with his work. This was not a big issue for us, but was disappointing and seemed a bit unprofessional. When the inspector came out to inspect the work, it did not pass. We then needed Bruce to return to the house to fix the problem. After a series of voicemail messages and phone tag, we reconnected and set a date to fix the problem. On the day he was scheduled to come back out, Bruce showed up more than one hour later than the agreed upon time (with no advance phone call to let us know that he was running behind schedule). It did not take him too long to fix the problem, and he assured us that he would recontact the inspector. This promise was made over three weeks ago and we still have not received a call from inspector. We're not sure who dropped the ball (Bruce or the inspector), but we also have not received a follow-up call from Bruce to make sure that everything ended up okay after his second visit. All in all, a very drawn out and rather frustrating process. It looks like we will have to try to figure out who to call to get the inspector to come back out and finally approve the work.
Description of Work: Provided whole-house surge protector, swapped out old circuit panel for a larger one, and fixed a few other wiring issues around the house. The price was fair. We had another electrician come out and give us an estimate for the same work. The other guy was a little lower but in the same ball park. We went with Bruce because we had spoken with him first and liked his initial recommendations.

Sorry about the dust left behind, i did clean up after the job was complete. I checked with Metro on Friday and the inspection request that was made a couple of weeks ago did not go through but has been setup for sometime this week. When inspection request are made online we don't get a conformation that the inspection was made unless we have a problem on the job. [member name removed] was the contact person for the inspector and should have let me know that the inspector had not been by to make the final inspection. The problem with the inspection was related to the inspectors misunderstanding of bonding means. The job was installed correctly he just wanted separation of neutrals and ground wires.

I am very happy and satisfied. The free advice I got from Bruce was spot on. I did the work myself and have fired my pottery kiln since his visit and it works great. I was worried about working on my kiln but was at ease after talking with Bruce. I would recommend Bruce to anyone that needs electrical work done. I trust that he would do a good job.
Description of Work: Bruce was very professional, punctual and responsive to my call. He came out the day after I called and told me what needed to be done with my pottery kiln. It turned out that it was work that I could do myself. Bruce did not charge me and gave me free advice. I'm glad that I called Bruce and I will call him again if I need any electrical work that needs to be done.

I couldn't be happier with the entire process. I called Bruce and he came out the next day to give me a free estimate. I was happy with the price so we scheduled the work to be done a couple weeks later. He showed up that morning right on time and was done that afternoon when expected. He saw that my oven wiring was too small because it was still original from the 50's and would most likely not pass inspection. He gave me an estimate to replace it too and did not pressure me at all or try to make me believe it HAD to be done immediately. I went ahead and had him come out the following week and replace it too. Everything looks great, he cleaned up after himself, and like I said I couldn't be happier. I really like the fact that the person you call, is the some person who does the estimate, and the same person who does the work. No way of things getting mixed up between multiple people. I highly recommend Bruce at A Professional Installations and if I ever need work done in the future I will be giving him a call.

Our light fixture had quit working weeks ago. I had called other electrical firms and had trouble getting them to show up. I found A Professional Installations on Angie's List, and Bruce showed up promptly the next morning. He tested the switch, which was good, then found a loose wire in the ceiling. He was very professional. I highly recommend A Professional Installations.

Description of Work: Mr. Maddox did a wonderful job in a house that I'm renovating in the Highlands. He added new lighting and outlets in the kitchen and removed an old 220 outlet for an electric stove that was removed. He is a perfectionist and his work shows it. Mr. Maddox is also very personable, easy to discuss issues with, and very neat and tidy. I highly recommend Mr. Maddox and plan to use him myself on other projects during my ongoing renovation project.

I have worked with this company before. He always does great work. I look forward to using him again. At heart, I'm pretty cheap. So, I'm never really thrilled at his rates. But, I am always confident that the work he does is top-notch. He stands by his work and it shows. I've never had a problem with his work needing to be "re-done". And, I would prefer to pay his rates knowing that he does the work correctly the first time. For this cooktop installation, I called him to describe the work needed. He asked me some questions over the phone to ensure that I had the right parts needed for the installation. Because it was a small job and my schedule was flexible, we loosely scheduled some time to have the work done. When we firmed up the schedule the next day, he showed up promptly when he said he would. He was friendly and cleaned up all of the installation materials. Overall, it was a pleasurable experience.
Description of Work: Removed an installed electric cooktop and installed new one. My old cooktop had a cracked glass surface.

Most of the electricians I contacted wanted to charge a fee just for the estimate. He was one of a very few who did not. He may have changed that since I had my job done. Always ask. I would recommend him and will contact him for any future electrical work I may need. He was very professional and did my job without any helpers. Although I knew the work he was doing required a permit based on the information I had gotten from the local regulatory agency's website, when I asked him about it he said it wasn't required. To be fair, the permit requirements had been recently changed and he honestly may not have known about them. That's really no excuse and he should stay current with permit requirements
Description of Work: Mr. Maddox, the owner, installed a new circuit from my panel in the basement to the 2nd floor bedroom. The circuit had 3 outlets and two lights with switch. He also installed another outlet in the first floor bedroom using an existing branch circuit. Access was difficult but he accomplished it with minimal disruption. His price was very reasonable and he did not waste any time getting the job done.
