We scheduled him to come a week before we left, so we could make sure he would do a satisfactory job. He never showed up, and did not respond to emails about his failure to perform the scheduled service. We cut the grass ourselves before we left town and assumed that he would get around to it eventually. A few weeks later, we received an invoice for two mowings. One was allegedly performed on August 6. We were still in town on August 6, and he did not come that day. When we notified him of this, he said that his crew had showed up to mow on the 6th, and it looked like the yard had just been mowed. He claimed that they returned on August 10 to mow instead. First of all, the yard was overgrown on August 6 - it certainly didn't look like it had just been mowed. On top of that, we were also home on August 10, and he didn't cut the grass that day either. We left on the 12th, and we mowed before we left on the 11th. Although we have our doubts that he ever cut our grass at all, we offered to pay for the service that we could not definitively prove he did not perform. On September 5, we notified him that we were canceling our agreement effective immediately. Today, we received an invoice including the charges for the previous two mowings and a third on September 6 - the day after we canceled. We explained that we would not pay for the service he claims he performed on August 10, because we know he did not perform it. He is insisting that we pay for all three mowings, including the one that occurred after we notified him that we would no longer need his services. He has no explanation for why he performed services after we told him he would no longer be needed. He also will not acknowledge that he did not mow on August 10, even though we were home that day and know he never came. He simply sent us an email with the following message: "I apologize for your confusion, as it stands the invoice must be paid by October 5th. Thank you for your communicating your concerns." Instead of apologizing for his own confusion and fixing the problem, he apologizes for our confusion, and insists that we pay a bill for services never performed. I cannot comment on the quality of Mr. Kidd's services, because he did not perform them as scheduled at a time when I could evaluate them. I will say that I believe he is trying to take advantage of our absence to charge us for services he never performed.
Description of Work: We were out of town for an extended period of time and needed somebody to take care of our yard while we were away. We hired Adam Kidd at WeMow to come every two weeks.
