Tommy Buford Plumbing Professional

We've had Mr. Buford here twice - once when we first bought our house and discovered they had the refrigerator water line hooked up to the hot water pipe (!), and again today when he installed two new faucets which I had purchased. Both times, he did excellent work, quickly, and did not leave any mess at all. He responded promptly when I called him, and I told him it was not a rush job at all, so we worked out a time when it accommodated both our schedules. We also had him look at the plumbing in our basement, because we didn't understand why our washing machine drains into a reservoir which then gets pumped up and over to the sewer stack, and he explained that was the recommendation of the city of Lexington, for reasons he explained which I won't go into, but I mention this because you won't find anybody with more experience and expertise than Mr. Buford, and his rates are very reasonable. He's very down to earth and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend.

Mr. Buford did an exceptional job, as always. I called and left a message hoping to schedule an appointment for the following week since it was the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. I certainly didn't expect him to call later that day stating he could be here in 20 mins.! Within the hour, the work was done. He's such a nice guy. My mother & I really appreciate his professionalism.

It went great. I hired Tommy from recommendation from Angie's List. He called me back right away on a Saturday afternoon June 17th, 2017. Came over 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Came back at 2:00 p.m. after the countertops were installed and did a very neat and perfect job. I could not be happier with his work. He is personable, friendly, clean, etc. I am 72 years old and have owned many properties. He is absolutely one of the best and nicest plumbers I have ever engaged. I would highly recommend him.

I waited all day Friday for another plumber and then I decided to join Angie's List and find one. Tommy Buford returned my call promptly and came out the next day and stopped the leak. He returned Monday to finish the job. He made sure I wasn't inconvienced by the delay but he had already worked to much going into Saturday afternoon. He is friendly, returns calls, and texts with updates. He has a very professional set up in his truck and does a very professional job in all ways - work, appearance and talk. I deleted all the other plumbers in my phone and will use Tommy from now on.

We have used Tommy for many years and will continue to use him for any plumbing issues. He has always been fair in price and has arrived on time or even early, which I appreciate. Tommy has always done the best work and is very professional. He always advises us to choose certain products because of the quality, quality parts and part availability. He knows plumbing inside and out and we know he will do the job right. We knew to call Tommy when we decided to replace the builders grade fixtures in the 2 bathrooms upstairs. We also wanted to replace the toilet in one of the bathrooms. Tommy came out and did as we expected, a great job. He made everything look great, installed a quality product, cleaned up and removed the old parts as usual. We have recommended him many times and will continue to use his services.

Tommy Buford seems competent as a plumber. As a person, however, he is extremely rushed - often coming for his appointments early (for example, 8:15 rather than 9 am). He barely listens to you describe the problem before he rushes out to get something to fix it. He certainly doesn't want to explain what he is doing and why, even if you tried to fix the problem before he got there, so it's obvious that you are interested in doing that certain kind of maintenance/repair yourself. He also feels free to criticize what you may have purchased via the internet (faucets, etc) for various reasons - they didn't come from local establishments and support the local economy and they aren't Delta, which he has a particular fondness for - but not the Delta that's sold at Home Depot or Lowe's - those are inferior to the the Delta's at his plumbing supply places. All of which, I'm sure are true, however, I have to decided to not use him any longer due to the many abrasive qualities he has shown during his several trips to my house.

He would have come next day to replace my water heater, but it took a couple extra days to get a custom drain pan made. I couldn't be more happy with the work! I now have a water heater that I don't have to worry about venting properly or flooding my basement if it ever fails. He didn't mind working around access limitations or answering all my questions. The work was completed quickly. I'd be happy to use Tommy Buford again.

No problems

Great! Called for repair of water heater inlet shutoff valve that had leaked. It appeared to me to need to be replaced and that is how I represented the issue to him over the phone. He quoted a $100 - $150 cost. He got here and saw it only needed minor tightening, and did so. He never even thought about going on and replacing because that is what I had in my mind. He only charge $25-$35. A VERY HONEST PERSON.

I had no hot water. They showed up within a day of my call, removed the old gas boiler and installed the new electric one. My electric bill since that installation has only been about twenty dollars a month higher for electric hot water and I am very pleased. About six months later, I called them for help with an outdoor faucet. I had already replaced the washers inside of it. They tightened something on the outside and inside fittings for a successful fix and only charged me for a half-house call because the work was quick and they had been in the neighborhood. I feel like any time I have a plumbing problem they will respond quickly and affordably.

He was nice and quick. He was very responsive. I would use him again in the future and would recommend him to others.

Mr. Buford has completed work for me before (five or six plumbing problems over the last eight years). As always, he was able to fix my problem on the day I called him. He is a quick, efficient, no-nonsense kind of guy.
