The job went well despite inclement harsh weather. I was pleased, as usual, with the quality of work. I received a guarantee. The price was as agreed. I gave them an extra hundred dollars because I was so happy. I have a tip for you customers like me. Always save the "type" of mortar your mason uses. It will be clearly printed on the paper bags of mortar your mason will use. 9 years later when you need a little repair, being able to tell the mason "type N" was used before on your chimney will make it possible for the mason to match the mortar appearance perfectly. (You'll thank me later.)
Description of Work: Mr and Mrs Copley are a team and work together to make their company, Stone Age Masonry, so professional in high quality stonework. I used them twice before for natural stone work. This time I needed repair to an old natural stone fence that, due to movement of earth on my hill, was collapsing in three sections. He worked hard in harsh winter weather everyday except when snowing, slippery and unsafe. The work was perfect. It is better now than it was before. He detected some flaws in the design of the fence that could inexpensively lessen future collapses. Stone Age Masonry has done brick repair and bathroom renovation of tile. But what I like most is heavy, beautiful stonework, both dry stack and mortared stone.

We are very pleased with the work Eddie and Tina did, and their bricklayer John did an excellent job on the windows. Our new window looks like the original! Our builder said that in all of his years in construction, John did one of the best jobs of laying and matching brick he has seen. He used the brick from the new window cut out and the header by the fireplace to patch in the hole from the old window outside. Thank you guys for doing such an excellent job for us!
Description of Work: We had a window moved during a remodel. This company bricked in the old window and around the new window. They also removed an unsightly header of brick next to our brick fireplace, and they worked in brick to finish out the fireplace smoothly. They also cut out brick to lower a step in a doorway.

The house is much improved, and I am happy with the work. Exactly when they were going to show was a little hit-and-miss - but this is mostly caused by the weather.
Description of Work: In the month of October, StoneAge performed 2 services. First they repaired my brick chimney (replaced brick, tuck-pointed and capped), and also repaired several areas of cracked brick around my house ($4,000). The work went well and I brought them back to repair the sagging header above my garage door ($2,500).

I got several estimates on repairing my brick front porch and picking Stone Age Masonry was a no-brainer after talking to Eddie. He keeps his appointments, he makes sure that he knows exactly what you?re expecting of him, and then he completes the work in a professional manner. My front porch looked terrible with cracked bricks and mortar, mold, and efflorescence. He advised me that it could be repaired by grinding out all of the joints and filling them in with fresh mortar, replacing all the broken bricks, and doing some major scrubbing. Eddie and Tina told me it would look pretty much like new when they got done. I didn't think that was possible but they proved me wrong. I am very happy with the final result. If there?s a few odds and ends that need to be taken care of after the job is done, Eddie and Tina will see to it that you are 100% satisfied before you pay for the work. You can?t ask for more than that and the great thing is they're good honest conscientious people. I would not hesitate to recommend Stone Age Masonry. Give them a call, they will take care of you.

We were very pleased with Stone Age's work, punctuality, and clean-up. They have tremendous expertise and their crew is knowledgeable and polite. The owners, Eddie and his wife Tina, keep a close eye on the work and are on-site most of the time. We have had water leak problems with our home for a few years and have been through a long process of elimination trying to find the leaks. We narrowed it to the chimney and guttering. In addition to the water damage, the house has smelled bad. When they started demolition of the old chimney, they found old, stagnate water in various areas. Once that was eliminated, the strong order of mold in the house went away. Once they completed the exterior rebuild of the chimney we had them work on the interior fireboxes. One had extensive deterioration and had to be completely rebuilt and have a new flue installed. The second firebox only needed a new flue. We found a crack in some of the old mortar (area they did not work on) and they have offered to come out and patch it when they have mortar mixed for another upcoming job. We have had one big rain since they completed the exterior chimney work and have not seen any indication of leaking in the chimney. There is still some leaking in the basement but it is not related to the chimney and we hope replacing the gutters and downspouts with larger ones will help correct that problem. We got three bids on the work and Stone Age was not the lowest. There was a large difference between Stone Age and the least expensive bid, however there was a much smaller difference between Stone Age and the highest bid. They did not require a deposit and presented us the full invoice on completion. My husband has worked in the construction industry in this region and he was most impressed with Stone Age and even though he thought their price was a little high, he had confidence in their expertise and that they would do the work correctly. They have addressed issues quickly and completely, removed debris promptly and kept the interior as dust/dirt free as possible. I highly recommend Stone Age to others.

One thing we always appreciate when people work inside or outside our home is when they seem to take a vested interest in all phases of the project AS IF IT WERE THEIR OWN HOME. This was our experience with Stone Age Masonry. We had planned to do the usual savvy approach of having several contractors bid on our three projects, but we were so taken with owners Eddie and Tina when they came out for the estimate that we didn't bother to call any other companies. All three projects (2 with brick masonry and one involving stone) turned out well. We are particularly pleased with the stone wall which has the look of dry-laid field stone. Every worker involved in the projects was a craftsman who labored to get things just right. The work was finished in a timely manner, even after the owners landed a big commercial contract. At every stage, the owners were helpful and responsive to our vision. Lastly, they kept the workspace (yard, driveway) remarkably tidy by the end of each day. Everything looks great and the neighbors have been oohing and aahing, too.
Description of Work: Stone Age Masonry completed three projects for us. They repaired a chimney and its cap, repaired and regrouted a brick front stoop, then sealed both these areas. The biggest project involved constructing a stone wall (3.5 ft x 40 feet long) over a concrete block wall.

The project turned out to be much bigger than I thought, and evolved as it progressed. We decided to add lighting in the walls mid-way through. We also decided to eliminate all of the grass rather than leave a little, which increased the area to be paved with brick. We had some rain during the process which slowed things down. Eddie and Tina listened to us as we worked through what we wanted, and were able to make it happen. We have a space that is much more usable and that we will enjoy for years to come.
Description of Work: Removed existing low deck and fishpond, graded the lawn to form 3 levels, installed brick patio on the three levels in a diagonal herringbone pattern, removed existing stone walls and installed cut stone dry stack stone walls.

We are finishing the basement and needed to do something about the awful job the builder did when he build the basement fireplace. The builder had run the gas supply line for the gas logs across the room and into the front of the hearth. Black pipe in plain sight! UGH!!! We called STONE AGE MASONRY. Really nice folks and good at what they do. The job went exactly as Eddie described. There were no surprises. This was a messy job to cut out mortar inside the house but I did exactly as they advised and built a "wind tunnel" to exhaust the dust outside. Everything worked great. The new work matched the original work perfectly. They were on time as scheduled. They hauled off all the rubble.

I just gave him free hand to work within my budget. He did a lot of stuff free just because he's a nice man and I am repeat business.
Description of Work: This is the second review I've done on Stone Age Masonry. the last review was a couple of years ago on my Pennsylvania blue stone floor on my front porch. This project involved improving the safety of my steep backyard. Last summer I was nearly killed when my tractor stuck in reverse and I went off backwards over the almost cliff-like bank. The rocks jarred me off the seat and I went tumbling downsharp rocks cutting the whole left side of my body. After I landed I thought, "I'm going to be OK!" Then here came the tractor and it landed on top of me crushing my left leg. I explained to Eddie and Tina later on my worry about the safety of the yard. I want some way to improve safety but not make it look ugly. They suggested this dry stacked wall with a planting bed inside with a stone stairway down it to replace the rotting pressure treated steps that were 20 years old. How did it turn out? Well take a look at the photos. WOW.

Met us for a quote at our convenience and gave us a quote for completion at that time. E-mailed us pictures of their previous work that was applicable to the work we were requesting. Very helpful at giving us ideas and suggestions on some alterations we should make based upon the space and dimensions we had to work with. We picked out our stone and they did the ordering for us. Once work started they were happy to answer any questions and make any alterations that we requested. The work took about 4-5 days and turned out better than expected. I would highly recommend Stone Age to anyone.

Eddie and Tina was here first morning for estimate, walked around house with me said he would repair all loose areas of mortar. we discussed matching color as close as possible especially since the main area ofvrepair was the front arch above front door. i accepted his price. they showed next day ti start. I came home for lunch and noticed a younger guy caulking the front windows with cheap 99 cent caulk. I called Tina, she called the young man and he stopped. She apologized as it was not the foam caulk we has discussed during estimate for the voids above windows and silicone caulk for remaining doors and windows. Ed offered a 5 year warranty for windows previously caulked. (The young guy had caulked approx 10 windows so removing caulk and recaulking would have been time consuming for them). I agreed to the warranty. Tina delivered the correct caulk and apologized again. Job took about 2 days. Afterwards we noticed the young guy did not remove the old caulk he just caulked over the old, looks horrible. A screen in 2nd floor window was damaged with his ladder. Eddie tuck and pointed several areas around the house. When we initially spoke he said he would use a color to match close to the existing color . Grey was used. House mounter color is sandstone, sorta goldish. Looks like an amateurs or a DIY job. Someone was to return and sandblast the excess from the areas repaired. Someone came, was here 2 minutes about the time I went to the door they were gone. The porch was sandblasted only, not the best job. No other areas were sandblasted so every area that was repaired you can see the residual overspray and the color difference between the color "grey" mortar that was used. Overall, the job looks tacky and cheap, our house sits on the corner, the "grey" mortar on the front arch is very pronounced, eyesore.
Description of Work: Eddie and Tina came to give estimate of tuck and point loose mortar and remove old caulk and replace with new caulk.for $2500, we should have purchased new windows. We had 2 windows leak inside the house since being caulked.

We were having a new exterior door installed and the installer informed us that there had to be a support piece added above the door to support the bricks before the install could occur. He told us that we would need to contact someone who does masonry work so we looked on Angie's List to locate one. We contacted Stone Age Masonry. Eddie and Tina came out the same day to give us an estimate. The concrete walkway in front of the house was pitted and cracked so we also asked for an estimate to pour a new one. The cost for a new concrete one was more than we wanted to spend so they came up with another option to repair the walkway. They suggested making the walkway out of bricks. Not only was the cost within our budget, but it allowed them to add a step at the bottom of the porch where the original step was much taller and harder to climb than it should have been. The walkway is absolutely beautiful, we could not be more pleased! It really dresses up the entry to the home. Eddie also noticed that some of the mortar on the front porch was cracked and falling out. They ground out the old mortar and repaired it with new. We had a handrail at the steps at the other end of the walkway that had broken off at the base. They had it welded and re-installed it and even came back and repainted it for us. Eddie and Tina are knowledgeable and hard working. They are considerate of budget constraints. They schedule their work to accommodate your needs and the job was completed on time and within budget. The area was left clean and Tina contacted us after the job was complete to ask if there were any issues or questions and to see if we were happy with the outcome. We will not hesitate to contact Stone Age Masonry for future jobs.
Description of Work: Removed bricks above doorway on front porch and installed metal support so that new exterior door could be installed, replaced bricks, ground out cracked mortar on porch and replaced with new, added a bottom step to existing set of steps on porch, resurfaced concrete walkway with brick pavers, added a step at the end of walkway and installed hand rail.

Eddie and Tina with Stone Age Masonry are absolute professionals. They arrived on time for the estimate, quickly measured and assessed exactly what needed done, and gave a very competitive price. Within a few days Eddie was up on the roof tearing down my old Chimney and rebuilding with brand new brick. The results are absolutely fantastic. Upon completion, I decided to have him install a stone facade on my brick fireplace which turned out perfectly. Eddie is very detail oriented and will not quit until everything is perfect. I would not hesitate to use him for any masonry job that comes up around my house. In fact, we are looking for more jobs for Eddie to accomplish. Thanks!
