PROVIDENCE ELECTRIC

Undoubtedly, the worst experience we've ever had with any contractor. For his convenience, our contractor hired Providence to relocate our electrical panel during a renovation. The employee failed to discuss a number of key details upon changing the scope of the original work, which resulted in what can only be described as shoddy and unprofessional results. Since this was ELECTRIC work, getting it right is essential; i.e., 1.) parts were re-used that should've been replaced, including the actual box itself (they tried to flush mount it IN the wall when it was for wall mount only), 2.) horrendous looking conduit was placed on the exterior of my historic house without my consent, included boring giant holes through the brick, 3.) the length of the new circuits wasn't taken into consideration so the panel wasn't set at the correct height - so every circuit had to get spliced into new, unnecessary junction boxes (inconveniently so in the crawl space instead of the very accessible basement)... I could go on and on... The the first few nights, a breaker tripped and wire melted in the panel and the fire department had to come. The owner of the company responded the following day and tried to blame the burned wires on the breaker, which had never tripped prior. He "offered" to replace the old, wall-mounted box, which should've never been re-used, as well as change the breaker and melted wiring. At that time we also discussed the other issues, including the additional time and materials I was charged for that resulted from the employee's poor planning and lack of judgement. He offered to review our invoice and discuss with the first employee. A second employee came to replace the melted wiring. He checked breaker and confirmed that it seemed fine and expressed concern over what would've caused the problem. He was too large a man to access the junction boxes in the crawl space. A third employee came about a week later to replace the box and rewire the panel. After he left, we discovered that all the upgraded dual-function breakers we'd had previously added to our panel for our new kitchen and bathrooms were gone. The owner "played dumb" (his own words) and admitted that he'd told the employee to take them. These upgraded breakers cost around $80 each. They were replaced with $5-10 breakers. The owner couldn't/wouldn't explain under what circumstances it would be generally acceptable to remove breakers like that and replace with generic breakers - this essentially left all my new appliances completely unprotected, as well as every new outlet we'd added to our home. The owner said he'd get someone over immediately to replace the breakers that had been taken but instead emailed me a copy of the unrevised invoice and asked me for payment. When I called him and asked him to come complete the work to a satisfactory level, he balked that since we were unlikely to refer his company, he would waive the invoice and I could get my own electrician to come finish the work. Honestly, as unprofessional and shocking as that was, we were relieved that we wouldn't have anyone from this company back in our home. Our own electrician inspected all the work and found that, amongst other things, most of the ground wires hadn't been tightened in either the junction boxes or the panel. We've had to have much of their work re-done by our own electrician due to their poor work. The icing on the cake was that the atrocious conduit they put on the outside of my beautiful old home wasn't even necessary. I regret that we didn't insist on using our own electrician from the beginning.

The electrician was here on time. Very polite. Did not mind me asking question s, answered them very respectfully.

Larry, the owner, and Tom, one of the electricians who came to the house were friendly, and professional. They each arrived on time, explained what needed to be done and why. I would recommend Providence Electric to anyone, and I'll use them again.

They were very efficient in there work. Everyone was very courteous and knowledgeable.

Went very well. Provider arrived on time and was able to work with me to fix the problems I was having. Found out previous home owner was not as handy as he boasted and they were able to clean up his mess. The breaker panel was fixed and I have had no issues since. They installed an exterior lighting sconce, replacing the old busted one, and rewired it the correct way so it works properly. They did a great job and they were friendly and professional and great to work with. I am very pleased with the work done and would gladly use them again for my future electrical needs.

Larry and his team were very responsive, honest and easy to work with. They arrived on time and got the job done. Most importantly, they were thorough in their work and very clean. I'd definitely use them again and recommend to anyone else.

We called and spoke to Zack at Providence who was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Fortunately no repairs were necessary at this time. Thanks Zack!

My wife and I recognized that this was both outside weather dependent work and inside work so we requested a 24 hour heads-up for when the actual work would start.. They gave me a 48 hour notice and showed up when they said they would. They coordinated with Kentucky Utilities for the meter location, cutting off / reconnecting the power for the transition from the old service entrance to the new and the electrical inspector for his approval. The service entrance upgrade took one day, and the transfer of breakers from one panel to the other took roughly 6 hours the next day. The electrical inspector showed up on the 3rd day. Professional, and asked for my input on location of the meter /disconnect / ground system. My wife and I recommend them!

I made appointment and expressed the need for expedited service for home sale repair. Providence Electric was very accommodating and shifted things and scheduled for next day. very prompt, quickly found the problems, had the parts, made the necessary repairs at a reasonable cost.

Contacted provider using the phone number I found in provider's AL profile. Left a voice mail but, to this day, have not received response yet. Hard to do business with a company that does not return phone calls from customers.

Very Quick response by phone and by email. Came out the next day and installed our hot tub. Very nice, and very quick. Great price. Would recommend to anyone and plan to use again! Very happy.

Called this company to run an electrical wire so we could install satellite TV. They said they would be out Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. They never showed and never even called. Absolutely no contact at all. Unprofessional and unreliable.

They were here within 30 min of my call and were very professional and gracious.

The wall switch replacement was fine, but the main reason I called Providence Electric was to get a quote for a full house standby generator. Larry Burke told me he would be unable to come to Frankfort until the next week to give me a quote. I have been waiting over two weeks now and not one word from Larry Burke. Will not do business with him again.

Our experience was great! Anytime I had questions or concerns, Providence answered them. They showed up on time and kept us up to date with the progress, which took about 3 weeks. The only thing I wish we had done differently is more outlets. This isn't their fault but after living there now for a while it would be helpful to have some added in a few spots I didn't think of before. I would highly recommend them.

I contacted Providence Electrical to get an estimate on the installation of some outdoor lighting, replacement of our fuse box, and updating the electrical for our air conditioner unit so that it's up to code (there is currently no outdoor shutoff). The initial contact was seamless. It was easy to set up an appointment, and Mr. Burke was very responsive. However, the day of the appointment we received some light snow in the area, and he contacted me (via email) to reschedule. The appointment was at 2:00PM that afternoon, and I figured that by that time the snow would have melted. Additionally, I had several other estimates scheduled that day and no other provider cancelled or called to reschedule. After some back and forth, Mr. Burke informed me that 5:30PM is too late for an appointment -- 5:30PM is the time that I would get home from work, and I had already taken off one day and didn't want to risk taking off another only to have him reschedule again. I was also informed that he only comes to Lexington 2 times a week. By this time it wasn't worth the trouble of trying to orchestrate the estimate and I decided to schedule an estimate with another provider. When I informed him of this decision he stated that another person would be in touch with me and he would "let him visit." I understand that sometimes weather and other events can come into play, but I wouldn't recommend advertising that the provider performs work in an area that he visits twice a week and won't try to be flexible with scheduling after cancelling.

Requested an estimate and had someone at the house to perform the work in 48 hrs. The electrician also answered questions about potential future lighting projects and gave me some other relevant tips and advice that were appreciated! He was very knowledgable. Will definitely call them again.

Met Larry Burke on site to review the scope of the project for each room and floor of the home. I found him here in Angies List and picked him based on other user reviews. I'm glad I found him, Duane and Andrew here on the list. Great folks and have done a great job. They're always on time, clean up after themselves, took good care of my light fixtures. I also upgraded many of my interior and exterior lights to LED to assist in energy savings and Larry and his team were very helpful at deciding which lights to use where and how much light is needed for a specific task. We moved several switches as well and Duane placed a lot of thought on how the space would be used and sought my feedback to help determine the best spot for the switch. I had several delays with supplies or lights and they were very accomodating with my overall schedule. I will definitely use Larry and his team again in the future.

The electrician (Tom) showed up on time and performed his duties professionally. He was very knowledgeable and very personable. He completed the installation quickly, and cleaned up after his work. The work was very reasonably priced and was much more affordable than the estimate received from other electricians for the same work. All work was performed for the same estimate provided by Mr. Burke, the owner. We would definitely contact this company in the future for electrical work.
