Residential and commercial installation and repair of plumbing, heating & air conditioning.
Tech showed up on time and was professional and work was great, but they try to sell you a lot of things and the price is outrageous! Think about this. Install a new dishwasher and fix a dripping faucet in the kitchen sink and the cost was 500 dollars. That's 250 dollars per hour for the 2 hours the tech was here. To be fair, he did a great job but because of that beyond insane price for that type of work, I won't be using this company again, nor will I recommend them. I must have been temporarily insane to agree to that price,

I had to take two half days off work for them to schedule a service repair and they still could not give me a quote to fix the issue. They would only recommend replacing the entire furnace and air conditioning units at a price that varied from $6800-$21,000. The salesman could not be more specific about what the differences were in the various models besides "bells and whistles" and "safety features". They did not provide a copy of the system estimates but said I could take a pictures of the paper with my phone. They used fear-based sales tactics and were very high pressure. After two service calls, they wanted me to take another half day off work for them to send yet another person out to look at it... and still could not give me an estimate on fixing the issue - they said it would be expensive and they weren't sure they could get the parts - again pushing me towards a new unit instead of a repair. I would not under any circumstances recommend Lex Serv. They have glossy brochures and fancy folders with magnets but seem to be more interested in high pressure sales than providing a repair service.

Did not show up. I had an appointment for 5:00 pm. They said they may run late and would call. By 6:50 pm, I had heard nothing, so I called them. The receptionist had to ask for my phone numbers (again)... even though I had given them my contact information earlier. She also said she would call the repair personnel, who, in turn would call me... I never heard anything. So, in essence, they did not show up, nor call at all.

Not well. They took advantage of me on the hottest week of the year.
Description of Work: Added refrigerant to one of my four units. Every a/c company in town had a 2 week waiting list. Lex Pro came the next day...first clue. I was quoted a price then black mailed into buying a maintenance contract to get a 20% discount. I started this review a long time ago and never finished it. I am still very very aware of how I was taken advantage of and feel the need to express it. They got my unit working but they will never do work for me or my business again.

I contacted LexPro because my outside heat pump was freezing up. One of the technicians, Mike, came out and said that the system had a mechanical fault in the heat absorption system and an electrical fault in the compression system. This was a little bit Greek to me but basically the heat pump compressor was bad and the indoor unit was leaking Freon. Anticipating a costly repair, I contacted my home warranty company who sent out a technician from an affiliated company. This technician said that only the defrost board was bad and that the system was not leaking Freon. However, he also noted that the heat pump was heavily damaged from hail which resulted in the warranty company denying the claim. So, I would be left covering the cost regardless of which option I chose. Obviously, two very different diagnoses with a substantial difference in cost. In the end, I decided to go with LexPro. I made the decision based on which company I thought was more trustworthy. I had used LexPro previously and had more confidence in their work. The system was replaced in late November and I have been very pleased with it. I found all the technicians to be very professional and courteous. The owner, Dave, even came out a couple weeks after the installation to do a quality control check (he didn't say he was the owner but I recognized him). I'm not sure what Steve's title is but I know he answers the phone when I call and keeps in touch during a service call. He is always pleasant and is so eager to help. LexPro is very lucky to have him. I will continue to use LexPro for my heating and air conditioning needs and would highly recommend them.

LexPro arrived and it was a younger technician who did the inspection. Although we had just moved into the house and didn't know if we had a problem or not with our units, he said our AC was leaking freon. This lead to a sheet with four or five different options, of which $320 was the cheapest "bandage" fix. At this point we asked how much it would cost to simply replace the AC unit. This entailed him calling a service representative who came to our house and took measurements. Almost 6 hours later of this service representative walking around the house and sitting in his car on the phone, we had another sheet of paper in front of us with 7 different "plans", of which none fell into our budget. The least expensive option was over $7k and the most expensive was over $15k. This was to replace both of our units, although we had never used our furnace and weren't sure we even had a problem with it. At this point, we still didn't know if we even had an issue with our AC--we simply had the Groupon for the $35! Needless to say, we ended up saying "no thank you" and getting a second opinion from Stuart Heating and Air, and I am so glad we did. The Stuart technician said there was absolutely nothing wrong with either unit, and could not find any kind of leak in our AC unit. Although he said the units were old, they were working properly and walked us through his inspection. As an aside, LexPro said we also needed to insulate our ductwork, costing us another $2k, but Stuart said this was not necessary. Would definitely not use LexPro again. They tried to sell us way more than what we needed, and were certainly not honest about their work. Go with another company (Stuart is rated very highly on Angie's List, and I can see why as they were professional from start to finish and were transparent about their inspection and walking us through everything, unlike LexPro).

THESE GUYS ARE CRIMINALS!! The first time I called them we were having issues with our furnace. I had a $25 coupon from Angie's list and thought I'd call them. The young guy who came out (he is NO longer there, by the way), seemed nice, courteous and honest. He determined that our new furnace was not wired correctly, and after connecting a few wires, the furnace began blowing heat. We were so happy and were only charged about $100, minus the $25 coupon, and thus only paid around $75. The young guy tried to sell me a service plan, but we told him since the furnace and AC were new, we didn't want to at that time. Spring came, and now we found out that the furnace was NOT wired correctly, and even though we had heat in the winter, the furnace was "kicking on/off" thus using gas, even though it was warm outside. We found out the issue because only the furnace ran on gas, while everything else in the house is electric. The second repairman, a VERY rough character, saw the issue and told us, "he needed to go outside and write up a proposal of "our options". I had the feeling we were about to be screwed, and I was correct. After 15 minutes the guy comes back into the house with a range of figures ranging from $400 to $5000. The $400 figure would simply fix the wiring with NO warranty whatsoever. The next price was about $800 and included the same wiring fix, but 1 year warranty on their work, plus 2 service calls for cleaning in the future. He also suggested the $5000 quote which would give us a new furnace. The furnace and AC were brand new, so I know he only showed that quote to make the others look low.Being forced to have SOME sort of warranty, we chose the $800 option. The guy finished the wiring in 10 minutes and left. 10 minutes for $800, what a scam! We called the office to complain and were told the guy was new, but no offer to refund any money. Their technicians work on COMMISSION, so he kept most of the money! Now, we needed the stems of our shower replaced, a VERY simple procedure from what many plumbers have told me. After a different plumber didn't show, stupidly I thought maybe LexPro's plumbers were different, and since they sent me a $50 coupon, I would try them AGAIN. Yes, I am an idiot! I was told I would be chraged $39 service call to diagnose the problem, and if repairs, it would be applied towards the repairs. Being that I had a $50 gift card THEY SENT ME, I thought I had nothing to lose. I was WRONG again! This time a very scrappy guy in his late teens or early 20's shows up. Immediately he begins asking me questions about my house, how long I want to live there, etc. I thought that was odd. After looking at the SIMPLE job, he again says he "has to go outside to write up my options". Uh oh, here we go again. After 10 minutes, he comes inside with my options ranging from $880 to replace the stems, to $4000 to replace my bathtub, tile, etc??? The entire shower is new! Again, he showed me this high price to make his other ones seem small. I told him no way, and told him it was a 15-30 minute job. his reply was "well we have to make a living!". I offered him my gift card and told him I would look elsewhere. he said he wouldn't accept the card, so I wrote him a $39 check and told him to get out! This outfit is a JOKE! Anyone else that has given a good review is lying! Don't believe it! ALL Of their technicians work on commission, and instead of doing like the entire civilized world does, which is charge you per hour, they try to see how much you would be willing to pay. After asking the office after the first raping why I was charged $800 for less than an hour of work, I was told, "he is new..." DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! You will regret it!!!!!!!!!!!

Description of Work: My AC was not working. They have been doing my twice yearly tune ups, so naturally I call them. The repairman was polite, examined the system and told me that the Voltage Protection Control unit needed to be replaced. He showed me 4 price options. I took notes because you are not allowed to keep this document. It would cost $4,118.34 for the best repair available. I had already spent about $1500 (with them) for a repair less than a year prior. They replaced the heating coil. Like used cars, I thought maybe replacement might be a better option. The salesman came out. They sell Carrier units. I know that is a pricey brand and it is a heat pump. The Gold option was to cost me $12,670 including a 5 year twice yearly service contract. OK, I should have said, "let me get estimates from other companies." Believe in the future I will. Cashed in some of my 401K, wrote them a check. My son goes to work calls me and says," Mom some of the guys here said they had their replaced and it was only around $5,000." Talked to my neighbor and he said the same thing and recommended I call a company he trusted. I did. My AC is working perfectly and it cost me $250. I'm not a stupid woman just too trusting, but no more. I will be calling them tomorrow, asking for a refund of my service contract ($179). This was an expensive, but valuable lesson. It cost me $34 to cancel my check. After i called the salesman and voiced my fear that I might be in for a ripping off, he called me back and said he had spoken to his boss. the boss said that he would match or better any estimate from another BBB company for the same exact unit and service contract offerings. Biggest DON"T: don't call them.

Description of Work: My appointment with this outfit was at 8am. I chose this time because they assured me that I would be the first appointment of the day, and thus would be prompt and on time. After waiting 45 minutes, I finally contacted Lexpro at 8:45am, since I had not seen anyone or received any call or notice that they were going to be late. The man who answered the phone simply said that their sales/tech reps were in training and were training and were just finishing up. I told him that my appointment was for 8am. He didn't apologize, but said they were just finishing up and the tech would be leaving any time. The tech arrived at my house just a few minutes before 9am. After 15 minutes, the tech told me that I had some bad or incorrect wiring on my furnace, and that he needed to go outside to determine 'my options". I believe he went outside to call the office, for whatever reason. After 10 more minutes, he came back and asked me to come to the furnace room. He had written down my "options". He stated that my furnace wasn't wired correctly (the furnace is 18months old), and that I had to choose what "option" I wanted. He had prices from $223 plus $69 service call to simply "fix the problem" with only 30 days warranty, or $471 to fix the wiring plus a 1-year warranty and service contract, and higher prices ranging to $2500 (yes that is $2500) to completely re-wire the furnace, add an outside temperature sensor, and a new programmable thermostat (the thermostat is also 18 months old). NO PARTS were needed at all, only the technician doing the wiring. I chose the $471 option, since it wasn't much more than the lowest, and I needed SOME sort of warranty, since I didn't really trust this guy. The tech then did the wiring and left the house by 10:45am, less than 2 hours from the time he arrived at my house. I called the company to complain, and asked the "manager" a few questions. I asked what hourly rate they charge for repairs. His response was "we charge a flat rate because of our years of experience". I asked how he could charge almost $500 for less than 2 hours of simple labor. he said we charge everyone the same. He offered me a $25 credit on the NEXT repair. I told him not to bother. I also asked if their technicians worked on commission. He hemmed and hawed, then said that it wasn't his place to say. I told him that his answer said it all. I firmly believe their technicians keep whatever they can get away with charging over a certain amount, thus the more they screw you for, the more they get to keep. This company is the biggest RIP OFF of any reputable company i have EVER dealt with. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO BURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I apologize for your experience; beginning with the lack of communication on the morning of your appointment. I understand how frustrating that can be, especially when you have rearranged your own schedule to accomodate the appointment. The training for the technicians usually took place on Friday. The change to Tuesday was last minute and caused the delay. This issue has been discussed with the Dispatcher to make sure the gap in communication doesn't happen again. I answered honestly when I said that I did not know how the technicians are paid. I have since asked our Service Manager and found out that our technicians are paid by the hour and do not work on commission. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. Our technicians are trained to give the customer options and the pricing of those options upfront, before doing any work. The technicians have the customer choose what option they desire, even if it is sending the technician away without doing any repair. Thank you for you post.

They were the most expensive company to give me an estimate so I did not use them.
Description of Work: Contacted them to provide an estimate for replacing my central airconditioning system. I already had two estimates from other companies, their estimate was the highest of the 3, and the time they said they needed to complete the job was longer than the other companies. Finally, the BTU of the units they proposed were smaller and cost more than what I was installed.

Frustrating experience all around. To start with, they were five hours late for their appointment. They added less than 3 pounds of refrigerant to our AC unit at a total price (including service call) of $475 (this was the "discounted" price after I complained about them being late). I was surprised at the price and called around to check after they left - only to find out that the going rate is about a third of what I paid. It wasn't a complicated job at all. They were here for less than an hour total. I have used them in the past and been quite pleased. Hopefully this was just a fluke, but I won't be calling them again.
Description of Work: Our AC wasn't blowing cold air so they were called to come out and add refrigerant to the unit and make sure there weren't any other problems.

Unfortunately, on that day, we had a technician who called in ill and so we had to scramble to rearrange his calls and place them on another technician. Another factor was the person in charge of keeping the customer updated on the technician’s status. That individual did not perform that task properly and as a result is no longer with the company. The person handling that responsibility now is much more experienced and professional. If such delays occur in the future, the customer will know exactly the status of the technician throughout the entire process. Based on more than 25 years experience and over one million completed jobs, we now “build” the price for each job type by applying the material, average labor, overhead and profit to each of these jobs. With this system, our clients now get what they truly want, “The cost before the work is performed.” Nor do you pay extra if our technician takes longer than the average amount of time required performing the work. We did follow up with this customer after the service was completed and did express our sincere apologies for the delayed response time that was unfortunately unavoidable due to the circumstances. The Licensed Service Technician provided the customer with a reduced service fee and a 10% discount off the services. Please refer to our other reports to gauge a more accurate description of our company. Thank you.

I have had them do some work earlier this year as well. I called them to come back for the fall work. I will continue to use them until they give me a reason not to. I paid nothing out of pocket today. You sign up for a membership so you are assured of someone being there when you need them. Last summer I had a rather significant water leak from an upstairs air conditioning unit after hours. I could not get the company I had been using to come out. I went through the yellow pages and saw LexPro had 24 hour service. He came at 1130pm that night. He had several other jobs to do before he got to me but he came and took care of it. I then called them when I needed my system checked in the spring and because they had spotted problems related to the leak. The first technician came back again and did a lot of work for me again. As far as I can tell everything is going well. I joined the membership as a fair trial. If you are not happy after 2 years you can opt out of the membership. They seem conscientious at this point and they are neat. I plan to keep using them in the future.
