+ -1 moreSee above .Geeks playing with other peoples stuff. I've been a computer user and programmer since 1983. Yes 1983 and these folks were off the wall.Took laptop to them and asked them to replace DVD R/W drive as it was begining to fail. Instead they launched into some software hunt which then caused my computer to lock up and corrupted files and my Norton anti-virus. They loaded some maalware soft ware which then made the computer worse. All of which took weeks; yes WEEKS When I asked them if they'd replaced the DVD drive as requested they said no they had not even ordered it.After I insisted they do what was asked and they put the new drive in the laptop the drive worked fine. The computer itself, which had never been at issue, not so much.

+ -1 moreUltimately the computer was fixed and in perfect working condition after the 3rd attempt!
Description of Work: My computer started with intermittent breaks in internet connection only noticeable when changing URL's, slow and sometimes timing out.( I have a high speed cable modem), My ISP checked on their side and determined it wasn't the providers problem and must be the computer itself. I took my tower in to Gorrell's office twice, both times I picked it up, the girl at the counter said it was fixed, no real explanation for what was wrong, they "tweaked" a few programs. Got it home both times and the same problem persisted. Also got charged both times. Finally after the second failed attempt at a fix, they agreed to come to the home, only to discover that I had been correct and that the computer was dropping "packets", they fixed it right away and gave me another bill. I was a bit frustrated by this time, felt like the problem was not addressed until the home visit but was charged 3 times! I grudgingly settled on an adjusted final payment after complaining but I don't feel confident in the thoroughness of the process. I should have been allowed to see for myself that the problem was resolved before leaving the office with the tower the first time. Overall, I felt like they thought I was stupid and that they couldn't bother themselves with listening to my description of the problem, resulting in unnecessary time spent going back and forth taking the tower in and out for nothing.

+ -1 moreThey were very honest and told me that my computer could not be upgraded to the point I required and that they did the most that could be done. They then suggested I could get what I wanted directly from the internet and that it would be less expensive than if I had them build me one. I asked for and estimate anyway. They sent it e-mail and it was more expensive than the net so I purchased my computer directly from the HP website. They were physically helpful to bring in and take out my computer to the car. They were very polite and spoke in a manner that an inexperienced computer person like myself could understand.
Description of Work: I called and took my old computer in to be up graded.

+ -1 moreWe called Gorrell's, and they ordered the necessary replacement fan based on the specs we gave them over the phone. When the part arrived, they called us right away, we took the PC in, and they had the fan installed the same day (within 3-4 hours). In addition, they fixed a network error message we had been getting for several months.
Description of Work: Our Dell Dimension 4600 was having intermittant fan problems, causing the machine to overheat and shut off.
