Distinctive Design Remodeling

Fantastic!!! This team is top-notch! We had already talked to four other "builders", but Kevin was the only one who really listened to what we were wanting - and then developed a plan that met our expectations. I felt like everyone else was trying to sell us a "package". Chris was our project manager - he did a awesome job! We emailed almost every day, he kept me informed on what was going on and the next steps - it wasn't me bugging him for info. Everyone we met did a great job. I will work with them again! (I felt like part of the team for our project.) And, they were the best price - BONUS!!! No surprise cost overruns either. This was our third major building project, but the first time I've felt good about the results (two others were different companies). It was great! They were very courteous, got it done very quickly, it's beautiful and it is exactly what I wanted.

1) We were very impressed that Jesse, one of the co-owners of DDR, met with us to discuss what we were looking for. He took detailed notes, and provided helpful feedback on different ideas we were looking at. 2) When we were reviewing the CAD plans for our room addition and breezeway, Jesse answered all of our questions without fail, and included different details into the CAD plans that we had discussed but were missing. 3) All the different members of the DDR team that were involved in the project (materials engineer, project manager, etc) were all very pro-active and touched base with us with questions, in order to ensure that everything would match as closely as possible to our house and detached garage. 4) The project manager, Chris, always kept us in the loop regarding which teams were coming to the house, materials being delivered, etc. This was definitely appreciated and made us feel like the project was being handled in a professional manner. 5) All the teams that came (concrete, framing, roofing, insulation, siding, electrical, drywall, trim, and clean-up) were highly professional and worked hard and fast to ensure that the project would be completed on time. Chris would visit to check on the work and to take pictures. When the stairs from the breezeway to the room addition was first built, Chris recognized that it did not meet code nor did it meet DDR's own standards, and had the stairs re-done. We greatly appreciate the action that was taken. 6) The clean-up team really impressed us with the care they took in making sure that everything was as clean as possible on site, including hosing down our driveway (where the dumpster had been sitting), so that we would not need to do that. Would we contact DDR in the future for any other additions or work on our house? Definitely. Would we recommend DDR to anyone who is looking for a company to do work on their house or property? Definitely.

Went up fast considering it was a wet winter.

This was an outstanding experience. Chris is a professional. He is knowledgeable and experienced in the trades. The crew was also efficient and they moved quickly. The quality of nte workmanship and the customer service far outweigh the cost of the project. Great value and again great experience. I have already recommended and will continue to refer Chris to family, friends and neighbors and absolutely will hire for my next project.

Excellent total product. From design and materials through build, I could not be happier with DDR. Chris was an excellent project manager who dealt with small details with the same efficiency and professionalism as he did larger issues. DDR showed their commitment to the customer by respecting an initial issue with removal of the existing foundation and with an unexpected significant labor and financial expense to properly run the electrical supply. It was easy to see how DDR values their employees and contractors. I recommend them without reservation.

When we decided to build a deck in the winter, I was afraid it would be a huge mess. I was very pleased with the whole process. The crews worked quickly and cleaned up after each phase of their work. Any questions or concerns were addressed promptly by our project manager, Ian. We were told the timeline would be 4-6 weeks and they finished in 4. We are so happy with the final project.

High pressure to sign contract immediately requiring 25% down payment. During this time we discussed all the details of the project. DDR Stating we will take good care of you just check our great reviews. During the planning stage the blue prints looked like a drop and paste CAD design with limited information received from the contract salesman for them to work with. Making changes on the drawings we resubmitted information needed for accuracy. After attempting to update our plans some details were missing. We were told these drawings were just a best effort and don't worry about the details. Distinctive Design and Remodelling stand by there excellent reputation keeping the clients happy. This was a huge mistake. This allowed them to take short cuts to save them money and denied all the details we were promised. In trying to start the project so they can receive the second 25% we were shuffled around with 3 different project managers of whom were not the final project manager. During the entire project communication of when they would be there was a very stressful joke. Numerous times we would call for information. Not knowing themselves we were told a date. Stating they (DDR project manager) will call back at the end of the day or tomorrow morning at the latest with an update. Those calls never happened. After several days passing we would call DDR to get the same run around loop. It became a family joke of how not to treat people. When it came to HVAC (heating and air duct work) they came to a conclusion what was agreed upon was not now possible. So for an addition fee we could have a separate wall unit like in hotels installed. Additional fee was a standard phrase to get more money from us. Initially at contact signing phase the signing salesman repeatedly stated they have a specially trained men to design the HVAC. The two vents agreed upon in the contract became a single trough. They had purchased pvc plastic pipes for the vents. This was not acceptable. See attached picture. The ceiling of the addition was to tie into the existing textured pattern. No effort was made leaving the ceiling with the drywall in need of more patching. See picture. We had to pay hundreds of dollars extra to get the same siding as existing. From the very beginning we explained on several occasions the type of siding has a preformed insulation backing. We evened showed samples of the existing siding and were told it would be no problem to match. In an attempt to finish the project an installation of a concrete porch was not done. Upon this realisation an attempt was made with an inexperienced crew. Using bags of mortar. Returning twice to the hardware store to purchase more bags to try to complete porch. The top of the porch is slightly lower than the bottom edge of the doors seal plate. Thus allowing water to enter under door frame. We are having to demolish the porch and reinstall correctly with another contractor. The yard is need of much repair. Ruts and patches of aggregate and concrete. Concrete spilling on the hand laid stone wall on the front of the property.

Overall we were very pleased with the quality and professionalism from Distinctive Designs. The cost covered all the major construction like plumbing, electric, drywall, etc. They use contractors that they work with all the time and they do high quality work. In a large project like this there are always issues that crop up and they handled everything quickly and easily. You choose your own vendor to work with for cabinets, appliances, flooring etc. Ian, our project manager, was excellent. He was easy to work with, flexible and communicated frequently with us through the process. It was hard to keep straight the sequence of all the different tasks between those other vendors and he made that easier. We hired DD after reading these reviews and now after this 6 month project has completed I feel they lived up to all these great recommendations.

We were hoping to get our basement finished before winter, a tall order considering we started looking for a contractor in September. DDR was very prompt in responding to our request for a proposal, and was able to fit us in. They were able to start our project the week after we signed the contract. Because we were flexible in our schedule and were doing the painting and floors ourselves, DDR fit us into their schedule when there was an opening. This might not have worked as well had we contracted out with others for the painting and floors. The project manager, Chad, stayed on top of everything. He kept us posted on who was going to be at the project and when, The electrician spent a lot of time with us to make sure the lighting and outlets fit the future use of the space. The designer who worked with us initially was very good, but Chad helped us work through some design decisions we had made in areas were something could work in theory by was maybe not the best choice. We are happy with how everything turned out. There are always things that come up during a project, but all issues were resolved in a timely manner to our complete satisfaction.

Very well! Chris, the project manager, kept in close contact with us throughout the build. He was incredibly helpful and kind, his crew were top-notch, and the resulting structure is wonderfully built.

Not only did they give me a fair quote, but were super helpful in designing the layout of the space to be finished in a way that maximizes the return on investment and increased the utility of the space. The craftsmanship is unparalleled. Even the painter I hired commented on how well the walls were constructed and how well the drywall looked. I got more than I bargained for with the electrician as well, who ensured that the number and placement of outlets met code and even installed additional outlets for a wall-hung television. Chad Faris, the project manager, kept the project moving forward sensibly and was always in contact with me. I always knew where the project stood. I was very happy with the way he kept me informed. Chad even took his personal time to fix an oversight on my part. Chad and his crew really went the extra mile to make sure my basement was transformed into a beautiful living space. I could not be happier.

Did a very nice job on our garage. Project took a little longer than anticipated due to rain which caused some water issues. DDR was very concerned with the issue and installed a drain system near our house to prevent any water problems. Chad Tipton our Project Manager stayed on top of things and made sure the job was completed and done correctly. Great group to work with. I would recommend DDR for your next project!

Very pleased with project manager keeping things running smooth in a timely fashion. They started when they said they would and finished project the week they said they would.

From the day we met with Kevin Kelly of Distinctive Design Remodeling until the day the job was finished, I have been impressed with every person who has worked on our patio cover. On the day the demo took place, the company was there to haul off the broken brick and like clock work afterwards the trash was removed. The framers, the roofers, the aluminum installers, the electricians, the finishers, the mason and especially the project managers are all first-rate craftsmen and really nice people. Distinctive Design Remodeling will be the first company that I call when I need work done in the future. I would also advise anyone thinking of remodeling to call them. Call them first because you won’t be disappointed as I also feel the price was very reasonable.

DDR provided an outstanding product. Despite serious winter weather delays, they completed our garage project on time as promised. Our project manager, Chad, provided excellent communication and consultation throughout the building process and was constantly at our job site. All the specialty contractors were professional, providing quality work. Jesse provided us with excellent consultation and expertly and skillfully guided us through our project changes before construction began. We would surely contract with DDR again, great company to work with.

Called to make an appointment. Spoke with a very friendly gentleman. Gave description of what I wanted and ask if he would be interested in giving me a quote. He said yes and ask if I was married. Seemed a strange question but I replied yes. He then wanted to know when he could arrange to meet with both of us. I told him my husband traveled and was rarely available for things involving our household. He said he could not make an appointment without my husband present. I thanked him and said further conversation was wasting everyone’s time. I am the sole owner of a rental rehab business and sole owner of many properties in Ky and Fl. The garage build was completed faster than expected. The Project Management by Chad and Chris was very good. They communicated each step of build and responded quickly to any questions or concerns I had. I also had really good experiences with Kevin who handled excuvation and concrete and Shannon their electrician. I would recommend Distinctive Design Remodeling for anyone's garage project.
