It was nice to work with a contractor that was so versatile rather than dealing with multiple contractors.

Excellent, prompt, and completed in less than 4 weeks!

We had DDR add a covered porch on the back of our home. They handled all the details - things like permits and HOA permissions. Our project manager, Kyle, always made sure we knew what was going on and when people would be at the house working. Their workers were professional and courteous. Their team started our project quickly and got the work done in a few weeks, despite bad weather. They made sure siding, gutters and shingles all matched the existing materials. It looks seamless! Kyle was quick to address any concerns or issues we had with our project. He was eager to make sure we were happy with the final result. I’d recommend them to anyone.

Instead of replacing our 15 year old deck, we decided to add a sunroom. Found DDR through the “Lexington” SubReddit and couldn’t be happier with the result. Here’s the quick breakdown of the process we went through (as far as I can tell, this is the typical flow of things): QUOTE/CONSULT: Submitted request for a quote on their website, was contacted next day by their office and scheduled a quote later that week. I should point out that they were very accommodating with this appointment—the gentleman (Mr. Painter if I recall) agreed to arrive around 5:30pm and stayed until 7:30pm. He took some measurements, and we discussed the details (size, design elements) of we were looking for. It was really helpful to look at all the pictures of other DDR projects that he had with him. He drew up the contract that evening and told us they’d love to do it if we wanted to move forward. We secured financing through our bank (instead of one of their lenders), so we asked for some time to get that set up, and they said no problem. DESIGNS AND PAPERWORK: One huge advantage of working with DDR was that they dealt directly with our HOA and the city inspectors. The DDR staff navigated those treacherous waters quickly and efficiently—other folks in our neighborhood decided to build an addition themselves and it took almost a year to get all the plans approved by HOA. Really glad we didn’t have to deal with that kind of headache. COMMUNICATION: Can’t stress enough how much the project managers communicate with you. We had Kyle as our PM and he was awesome! Before the project began, he called me up and we chatted for an hour about how the project would flow, expectations/timelines, etc… Given that everyone in the construction/remodeling business was dealing with material shortages, it was great to discuss the possible challenges of this project up front. In the end we were fortunate to have very little delay (had to wait on windows but wasn’t more than a few days). CLEARING OLD DECK: The tear down crew was very efficient and had the deck torn down and removed (with help from clean-up crew) in about a day and a half. CONSTRUCTION OF SUNROOM: The construction process is a bit of a blur—it all happened so fast! The framing of the room was done in what seemed like a day or two, and from there it was a matter of getting electricians in to wire the room and install PTAC unit, get the insulation poured and drywall put up, and then finally the windows and door installed. We chose a beadboard ceiling and they installed it perfectly. Start to finish was in the predicted range of 8-10 weeks (had to wait a few days for windows to show up). Was the crew at our house every day? No, but each day I got an email from Kyle at 7am saying “Hey, we will/will not be at your place today”, which was a nice heads up. MISCELLANEOUS: had a small landing porch and stairs built off of sunroom—DDR used screws instead of nails, which means we don’t have to worry about nail heads popping up in a few years (this was a major problem with the old deck); even though DDR doesn’t install flooring or paint additions, Kyle was kind enough to send me a list of pros he’s worked with before and someone off that list painted the new room for us; in terms of price, every addition will be different, but we priced several companies for this job and DDR was definitely the best offer because they had a solid reputation AND they were local (we didn’t want a national company who just gave everything to subcontractors). OVERALL IMPRESSION: this was our first home addition, and we couldn’t be happier with the final product. It looks great from the inside and the outside! We just had some family visiting from out of town and they spent almost the entire weekend in the sunroom because it is so nice. Final product was a 12x18 sunroom with side deck, landing, and stairs.

We found DDR on Angi's List. We are very happy that we chose them for our basement project. They were reasonably priced, professional and very responsive to questions and concerns. Most importantly, the basement turned out great! The project manager Mike and his crew made sure everything was built to our satisfaction. He came up with a creative and stylish solution to address our low hanging duct work. All of the tradespeople involved (electricians, plumber, trim) did top notch work. Our primary contact Jon stayed in communication with us throughout the project. We had a really positive experience. We would highly recommend DDR for basement finishing projects.

Love my new sunroom ! Chris and his crew are extremely easy to work with. They are very knowledgeable and skilled in the design and building process. Chris kept us informed and updated through out the building process. We would definitely recommend and use Distinctive Design Remodeling again.

We hired DDR to add a hip roof to our patio, Everyone was professional and great. Kyle always let us know when someone would be here to work and they always showed up on time, Kyle was quick to resolve and fix any issues with solutions and sometimes he did it himself we were very happy working with Kyle We would definitely hire these guys for another project and I would definitely request for Kyle to be my project manager.

Distinctive Design was the right choice for our room addition. Friendly professional staff. They handle all aspects of the build from securing permits, materials delivered, job site clean up, and yard restoration etc. The project manager was always in contact with me letting me know when each phase of the project was next. He was quick to resolve any issues and ensured that we were satisfied. Our project was completed weeks ahead of schedule. Would use again for future projects.

It has been an excellent relationship from the initial phone call to the last item on the punch list. This was the first time I’ve done a project of this size on my own, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the results. My finished screen porch is beautiful, solid and exactly what I hoped for. Even more, from start to finish, I was treated with respect. The design staff, the project manager, the office staff and the construction crews were helpful, courteous, inquisitive, and accommodating. Throughout the project, communication with the people at DDR was frequent and informative. I highly recommend this company.

Quality of the work is excellent. They turned my sons basement into a beautiful in- law apartment. We called Jessie back to cover a patio for us. The workers were excellent at clean up and they are very respectful. We were kept notified of time and dates that workers would arrive. We appreciated the communication very much. They are prompt, excellent workmanship, respectful and got the job done in a timely manner. We would hire them again without a second thought. Distinctive Design is a very upstanding company. If you hire them they will do a great job, if you are not pleased with something they WILL make it right.

Like clock work! The project manager always informed me what work and when it was going to be done. Workers were courteous and kept the mess to a minimum. I am very pleased I chose DDR for the project.

This company is outstanding! They were very professional. They completed the project AHEAD of schedule! Every day they cleaned up any debris. Excellent, quality work. The project manager, Chris. checked in with us at least daily so we always were informed.

Used these guys for a complete basement project. Went from bare bones completely unfinished to a high quality, professionally done living space. Everything was done to code and inspected from the wiring, plumbing, framing, drywall, etc. Any defects we found, Kyle offered to come back and make it right, which he did. Great work overall!

DDR did an excellent job building our detached garage! They were professional and each crew came through and completed their portion of the project perfectly! They were in constant communication with us throughout the process. We are completely satisfied with our garage and highly recommend them!

This was actually the second time we've used them as they built a master bathroom extension previously. That project went so well that we made sure to use them again as soon as possible. They did great work and everyone I met was very courteous and professional.

DDR has been the worst contractor imaginable. I started with a screened in porch with adequate headers for wide screens. The slope of 2/12 was adequate for a standing seam metal roof. All I wanted was to fill in the exterior walls with large windows. DDRs high pressure salesman convinced me to have that torn off and a much greater sloped roof installed. The new roof was contracted to start high up on the main roof, just below the chimney. The contract included that roof detail as well as how the new structure was to join the existing house. I repeatedly emphasized to DDR that the entire purpose of this project was to have large double hung quality windows predominating over the walls to enjoy my garden. DDR falsely refers to “details” as if it is in the contract. They claimI was stuck with their crap sliding windows based on a nonexistent section of the contract. I signed a general contract expecting to meet with DDR to into details which never happened. The construction continued despite my multiple oral and written requests to fix contract violations and anti-professional construction. They installed the crap windows despite my protests. They installed siding incorrectly that will all have have to be removed to install quality windows. DDR refuses to acknowledge, let alone fix, their innumerable contract violations. When I complained about the roof not being built as per the contract and with the wrong non-matching shingles (another contract violation). DDR emailed me a photo with their logo across the bottom showing the roof. Their own photo shows, what I believe to be a pack of beer bottles on the roof. When I asked DDR about their own photo and worker’s compensation insurance. I was threatened with a slander lawsuit twice. One threat was sent by mail and another by certified mail. I still have not received the proof of liability and worker’s compensation insurance that I requested. I have instructed DDR in writing that they had a limited amount of time to produce proof of insurance or else I would consider this to be two more grounds (among many) for breach of contract. DDR has been unable to provide proof of insurance. Worker’s compensation insurance is Legally mandatory in KY. The contract includes electrical work. DDR was obligated to pay its subcontractor. He was stiffed by DDR and I was stuck with the subcontractor’s bill. DDR refuses to respond to any written complaints or requests I timely notified DDR of contract violations, but construction continued that will now have to be undone. DDR disingenuously insists on oral agreements to avoid any written commitments, but it violated all of our initial oral agreements and therefore cannot be trusted.

We are very happy with DDR. They worked very hard to finish our basement and did good work. Our project manager Kyle kept us informed and was responsive to requests during the project. We will consider them for any future projects we may have in the future.

Did work as promised. Very fast and very good.

My wife and I wanted to build a sunroom on the back of our house. Distinctive Designs & Remodeling came out and listened to what we had in mind. They were able to present us with our options at a price that was within our budget. They began this project in mid-August and was completed by the first of October. I met with many other home remodeling companies and DDR was the only one that could provide the custom design I wanted within my budget. Chris, the project manager, was very professional and responsive, providing me with regular project updates. All of the tradesmen were professional and did quality work. I would use them again and refer them to others.

Overall we are very pleased with the work and professionalism that was displayed by the crew. They have alot of pride in their work and it showed in our beautiful sunroom.
