Before scheduling with this company, I explained the situation, and the job I needed to be done. I also gave them a window of time in which I'd be available. They contacted me no less than 4 times outside the agreed upon window to tell me a tech was on the way. I had to call them back every time in the middle of my busy work day to let them know I would only be available during the previously agreed upon time On the 5th occasion of them calling outside the window, I went ahead and left work early so I could be there. When the tech arrived he was a very young man, clearly very new to the job, and when I told him the job that needed doing, he told me he wasn't able to do it because he didn't have the necessary equipment. When I asked him to at least provide me with an estimate for the job, he told me he wasn't able to do that either - that was a different department. So they wasted half my day sending out someone who couldn't do anything.

Response from Dauenhauer Plumbing
We sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced with the scheduling and the service you received. We value your time and clearly failed to respect the availability window you provided. We understand how disruptive repeated calls outside the agreed time and an unprepared technician must have been, and for that, we are truly sorry. While we do have apprentices who work alongside experienced technicians as part of their training, we should have listened more carefully to your specific job requirements and ensured the right person with the proper equipment was sent. This was an oversight on our part, and we deeply regret the inconvenience caused. Please know that we are taking steps to improve our communication and job scheduling processes to prevent this from happening again. We would like the opportunity to make things right by sending a qualified technician at your convenience. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and again, we apologize for the trouble this has caused.

Expensive Service *** Poor Response to Calls Dauenhauer Plumbing cost More than their competitors in the area. They charged me $600 for a toilet installation! After this work was completed, I got a quote from another plumber and their installation cost was $180. Dauenhauer did include what appeared to be about a $130 toilet, so their total install price was $470 compared to $180, a $290 difference. It seems that the plumbers (salesmen) work on commission and found several items that needed fixing. Originally, they came out due to a leak in my shower, that leaked through the ceiling. By the time they were done with installing a new water valve, bath spout, shower control gasket it was $1,504.50 including the VIP discount! When they were done, they said I have a blockage in my line, and they could send someone out tomorrow to unblock it for $450! The plumbers did not have the equipment with them to do this themselves. I got a quote from another company, and they said it would only be $235 to clear a line. After filing a complaint online I got a call from the owner about the service. I let him know I thought his prices were high. He was very polite on the phone, but said he thought their pricing was fair. He said often prices quoted by others end up being more when they show up to do the work. That has not usually been my experience. He said he thought that the toilet cost over $200, but he was unsure. He said someone from the complaint dept. would call me. More than 3 weeks later this did not occur. I also called twice to get my “VIP membership” canceled. They said they would confirm this through email. I have not received any confirmation after a month. I also had to contact them 4 times to get my invoice, which finally happened. It was not very specific, like the cost of items including the toilet were not specifically listed.

We called Dauenhauer to have someone diagnose low hot water pressure in the kitchen faucet. Nate found a blockage in the tubing but also noticed a leak in the faucet and suggested replacing the faucet along with the tubing. This saved us from needing a second service call in the future. As the faucet is customer supplied, we were able to purchase one based on their recommendation. Nate and Jason returned a day later and were prompt, polite, and efficient. We are pleased with their work and will definitely use Dauenhauer plumbing for all future plumbing needs and recommend them to others.

Plumbing went well except for my Jacuzzi tub. Because it is a Jacuzzi tub there is a front panel that fits on the side of the tub to allow for access to the pump etc. The installers did not put the skirt on the tub. After the tile was installed and they finished all the plumbing, I asked them to put the skirt on the tub. It would not fit. They cut the skirt but it did not fit well and the bottom of the skirt was chipped. I asked for a new skirt and it was reordered. I was told I would be called when the it arrived. I was not called. So... tired of waiting......I called and made an appointment for that Thursday (March 4). They were a no show. Soooo I called again and was told the technician didn't even know if the skirt had arrived. He apologized and assured me he would located the skirt and install. 3 weeks later, tired of waiting I called again. The technician said he was extremely busy and just forgot. He came out and installed the second panel (March 25) It was a better fit but very difficult to remove. The technicians were always courteous. The actual plumbing was done very well but the tub skirt was a hot mess!

The cost was outrageous. They were at my house for less than a half hour and charged over $300 to unclog two drains. Even the plumber himself told me that they charge way more than they should but he is just one of many working for the company. Save yourself some money and call a different company.

Sunday night my pipes froze, I called at 10pm and agreed to pay an additional service charge for emergency repair on a Sunday and was told that he’d be at my place in an hour. He didn’t show until 1:30am. Then, he stayed for an hour, ran out of kerosene for the heater, left for an hour, and came back for another hour. At 4:30am he texts me saying, “we couldn’t get it” and just drives off. I end up not being able to shower and have to call in sick for work for Monday to wait for him to return. You’d think since I was considered an emergency Sunday evening I’d be one of the first people to get visited Monday, right? Hah, yeah, me too. Unfortunately the second plumber they sent (yes, different guy, let’s call him P2 and the guy from Sunday P1) didn’t actually arrive at my house until 3pm on Monday. It’s been 17 hours that I’ve been dealing with this issue. I’m tired, I’m cold, I’m sick, and I just want a ******* shower. You feel me? Here we are on Monday and P2 thaws my pipes after 3-4 hours then goes to check my shower. The handles that control the temperature of the water in the shower aren’t working like they did before my pipes froze. I ask P2 if he can fix it. “You have outdated shower knobs that aren’t sold in Walmart, Lowe’s or Home Depot. You need a 3 handle shower valve. Our parts store sells them but they close at 4 or 5.” Sounds legit, right? So I’ll bite. I’ll believe you, P2, know all about Walmart, Lowe’s, and Home Depot’s stock of shower paraphernalia. It’s a far reach, and you have a look on your face that just screams, “I WANNA GO HOME, *****” but I’ll take your word for it. I’ve only been dealing with this issue for 21 hours now, what’s another 24? It’s whatever. I inform him there’s no way I can call in to work again so that he can come back and fix this tomorrow (Tuesday for those of you who are nodding off at this point). I ask if he can get the part prior to the store closing and then coming to my place at 6pm (when I’ll be home from work) or later, he says, “Sure, that’s no problem at all. I’ll put it down.” He charges me $330 and leaves. I go and take a lukewarm (for 3 minutes) shower, which quickly turns to ice cold, and keep in mind that it’s mid January and 12° outside, so this was probably the worst shower I’ve had in my entire life, while also being the longest awaited shower I’ve ever had in my life. BUT EVEN SO: I’m optimistic about getting the shower knobs fixed/replaced on Tuesday (tomorrow at this point) and just happy to have running water again. I finish my shower and head to bed. I go to work Tuesday and get home at 6pm and I wait. No one shows... I call their office and speak to a lady (if you can even call her that), and tell her the entire story up until this point. She looks me up in the system, “Ma’am, you don’t have an appointment for today.” I am seething at this point. P2, I was kind enough to not question your highly questionable statement about Walmart, Lowe’s, and Home Depot: and this is how you do me? You did NOT “put me down.” I ask for a manager, there of course isn’t one on staff. Why would there be? I’m angry, they’ve all run and hid. She asks if I want someone to come by tomorrow (Wednesday). Well, it’s my only option right? It’s 6pm, that magical/mythical parts store I’ve heard so much about is closed so even if someone did come over tonight they wouldn’t be able to do ****. So, I start thinking out-of-the-box, because it’s clear to me this “lady” I’m on the phone with has zero ***** to give. I’m going to have to use my own customer service skills to service myself here. I tell her about the part that needs to be gotten prior to the parts store closing, and ask her if she can make a note for that store’s business hours so that potential P3 goes to get the part prior to coming to my house after 6pm on Wednesday. She says, “No. I can’t do that...” SHE CAN’T CONTACT A COWORKER ABOUT AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF A JOB PRIOR TO THE JOB’S SERVICE TIME? ARE YOU ******* KIDDING ME?! Ok... breathe. “Can you give me two appointments then? One for the store’s opening hours to go get the part and then another appointment when I’ll be home later that same evening to come to my house with said part and do the actual repair?” She replies, “No, because our plumber needs an address to go to.” I’m trying not to call this woman a complete ******* at this point and sarcastically rebuke, “Well, doesn’t your all’s parts store have an address?” She sighs, no reply. “Fine, put me down for an appointment for tomorrow after 6pm and just give me the name of a manager and I’ll call back tomorrow when one is actually working.” She says, “Your appointment is for 7pm to midnight [lovely timeframe to give someone who is so obviously over your all’s **** by the way]. And the manager is Lisa” then hangs up on me. Great CS training you’re giving your receptionists by the way, top ******* notch. I take another cold shower Tuesday night, go to bed with zero optimism. It’s early Wednesday morning now, I speak to Lisa on the phone, she’s nice, she seems like she knows how the **** to treat a person like a person. I’m starting to gain a bit of hope back. She says she’s gonna call around and get to the bottom of this. I make sure to give her P2’s name so he can tell her the exact part I need. She promises I’ll get a call back. Noon rolls around, I take my lunch break. Decide to call Lisa back, see if she’s made any progress. She says I should’ve gotten a call from P2 by now... guess what? I didn’t. SURPRISED?! Yeah, me neither. How can you be at this point? She says that he can’t remember the exact part I need. Once again, I gotta do the out-of-the-box thinking for Dauenhauer’s employees, because they have about 2 brain cells that they’re all sharing I guess. “Would it help if I sent you a picture, I ask?” She sounds exasperated, like she’s talking to ******* Einstein, “That’s genius! Yes it would help.” She gives me her email. I send a perfectly in focus, crisp photo of my shower handles and this is the email I get in return after I ask her if she received the photo I sent (wanted to make sure I spelled her email address correctly). Here is the following exchange via email with your manager Lisa H. Lisa: Yes. Thank you. I was just speaking with the technician that will be coming out. He is telling me the only way to be absolutely sure we can fix this tonight is to replace it entirely. Is there not any way we can schedule an appointment during the day so we can take the part to the supply house and match it correctly? I know you said you have to work, however, as long as someone at the home is over 18 yrs old, it doesn't have to be you. I'm just asking to see if there is a way to make sure we get this done right? If not, you are scheduled for this afternoon, we will see if our tech can get this done. *See that? Already looking for an alternate date and time because at this point even SHE has zero faith in your employees being able to do their ******* job. Me: I was always told that it needed to be replaced, and the man who was at my house Monday evening (P2) knew the part that was needed. I don’t understand why getting the correct part is an issue if you have one employee who knows what part I need and a photo that you can show any and all professional plumbers who work there... And no, I work 11 hour shifts so I cannot be home during the day unless it’s on my lunch break. If you can have a plumber come to my house at 12pm on the dot, sure we can get this done tomorrow afternoon. HOWEVER, a 5 hour time window of 12pm-5pm is NOT going to suffice. I expect this to be done this evening considering I have been speaking to you guys for 3 days about this, 4 in total. I think you can see how ridiculous this is getting, Lisa. *Just a reminder, 3 days is how long the knobs have needed to be replaced, and it took 2 nights (overlapping 1 of those 3) to get my pipes thawed. So we are at day 4 of dealing with this ****. I’m so not a happy camper. Lisa: Haley, this is scheduled with Donivan tonight. I have been told a picture of the faucet does not necessarily guarantee the the inside stems and parts have not been changed out. He will call you when he is in route to your property. Thank you. *My name is Hayley, and it’s in the subject line. So nice to see you give a **** about treating me with the respect and kindness I deserve at this point but that’s besides the point. Donivan is P1, as in the guy who couldn’t even help me night one and just drove off at 4:30am with a short text. Haha, you can’t make this **** up. Me: Great. I’m super optimistic about the guy who was here for 3 hours Sunday night (P1) and was unable to even thaw my pipes coming to fix an issue Josh (P2) supposedly had handled for Tuesday evening, after thawing my pipes Monday, that he never showed up for. Thank you. *Snarky? Yeah, but can you blame me at this point? Anyways, it’s 5pm on Thursday right now and I’ll be headed home in a few minutes to sit and wait for this dude for who knows how ******* long to see whether or not he can replace it for whatever part he picked up (IF he picked up a part at all). I’ll keep ya posted!

Justin came out on a wednesday afternoon to give us an estimate. He said he needed to go back to this shop and talk to his manager before writing up the estimate. He indicated that, because there were several items, he wanted to see if he could get us a discount. He promised to sent the estimate first thing Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon around 3:30, I called, because I had not received the estimate. Justin called me a few minutes later and said he would get the estimate to me that afternoon, It's now Saturnday and nothing. We need to have the work done this coming week, so this company is out. If you can't even give an estimate for work to be performed, how can I possibly trust you to do the work. I would never call this company again.

I originally called for a remodel job. They came out and made a competitive estimate and I scheduled. They also discovered a gas leak I had which required emergency service. The emergency service was great. They came out on a Saturday and had my gas up and running real quickly. The remodel job was a bit more challenging. Two different plumbers came and made the same recommendation which I was not happy with. If I need a plumber for fine remodel work, I will look elsewhere.

The negligence of DAUENHAUER and lack of responsibility for a job (repair of sump pump) improperly done is inexcusable - especially for a job that had JUST been done. I cannot believe this company is on Angie's list and I suggest removing them. As an out of state buyer (and real estate agent) I think it is very important for Kentucky Realtors to know that DAUENHAUER does NOT back their work and they certainly should not be used for any real estate transaction (or ever in my opinion) requiring plumbing work to be done by buyers for the seller per the earnest money contract. I intend to call the BBB. No where on their invoice does it say that "DAUENHAUER'S work is not guaranteed and is not transferrable to new buyers but we will happily take your money anyway."
Description of Work: Sellers of property were required to fix sump pump for buyers. Seller hired and paid DAUENHAUER to fix sump pump for buyers and sump pump was not fixed correctly. DAUENHAUER told new buyer verbatim, "we do not guarantee our work and it is not transferrable to new buyers" .....The work had JUST been done.

Best experience with a trade in 18 years and we've done a lot of home repair and remodeling. Ben Cloud and his crew did an amazing job cutting concrete and installing new plumbing for a basement bath project. Responsive, skilled, pleasant and cooperative, Ben worked the schedule to get our job done right and as quickly as possible. He reworked his original quote to get it in our budget. He then brought in Diamond Cut Concrete to cut & jackhammer our existing basement floor. Jimmy then came in with Mike to reroute and install all new shower and vanity drains and vents. Diamond Cut then returned the next day to fill in with new concrete & to remove the cut concrete from the site. Everyone was great to work with! We couldn't be happier especially after they charged actual time and parts which reduced the cost significantly from the original quote! A great outfit. We'll be calling them for all our plumbing needs. Thank you Ben!
