Crawlspace Doctor

Insulation, Basement Waterproofing, Drain Pipe Installation

About us

Crawlspace Doctor was established in Bloomington Indiana in 2002. Crawlspace Doctor was one of the first companies in the country to exclusively implement the practice of conditioned/ unvented crawlspaces. We were perfecting our methods when almost everyone else still believed in vented crawlspaces. Over time conditioned crawlspaces became the preferred method for constructing crawlspaces under homes. The process of conditioning a crawlspace is so successful it created an entire new industry. As a leader in the industry we pride ourselves in providing a large variety of products to fit our clients individual needs. We will NEVER be a company that supplies only one solution with one product for every need. We constantly work with manufactures and suppliers to provide the best and most cost effective products available. - See more at: http://www.crawlspacedoctor.com/index.php/about-us#sthash.fZmuVhFJ.dpuf

You would not believe the quality of the work the team did. Incredible. I wish I had before/after pictures to show, because it is simply remarkable. They were professional and did the highest quality work. Would use them again, and we have used them more than once for different jobs. Both times, cost was very reasonable and quality of work is unbelievable.
Description of Work: 1st job: Debris removal, insulation, vapor barrier installation, custom airtight door installation for crawlspace. 2nd job: Vapor barrier installation around entire cellar to help seal off floor and tie cellar into an existing radon system that is in the crawl.

Couldn't be better. Before: our crawlspace was damp, had mice raceways on drain lines, as well as various insect nests. After: the crawlspace is drier (wood is still drying out) and there are no access points for unwanted visitors. We encapsulated our crawlspace because our home has extraordinarily high energy consumption. With very cold floors this past winter it seemed likely that a large part of the problem was the vented crawlspace. Recent studies suggest a conditioned crawlspace is more energy efficient winter and summer and can lead to healthier indoor air. We were researching crawlspace encapsulation techniques and companies when we developed a large plumbing leak in our crawlspace. Mold was starting to grow on the wood near the leak. We decided to move up the crawlspace encapsulation project without 100% certainty we would recoup the cost in energy savings. We thought it couldn't hurt and at least we could dry out the crawlspace and stop any mold. We called Patrick and requested his advice. Very pleasantly surprised at his professionalism, depth of knowledge and training in crawlspace encapsulation technology as well as mold remediation. Patrick came out for a site visit and put in concrete terms what we had learned about this technology. He identified more leaking pipes, a dryer vent with a hole that was pumping humid air into the crawlspace, poorly draining gutters and downspouts, sweating lines that were keeping insulation wet, lot's of mouse foot prints (we had been catching them in the kitchen) and he reviewed possible changes. Low-key, fact based, no pressure. He knows what he's doing. We hired Patrick and his team to do the work. Hard working, polite, up beat. Courteous and helpful. A pleasure to have them on the property. The end result surpasses our expectations. Clean, dry and getting dryer. Cold floors are now warmer. (Energy savings are likely but it will take time to tell what the impact is. Patrick, to his credit never claimed any savings. He indicated that some people report this but it's hard to make a definitive statement about any potential savings for a particular house.) Patrick and I inspected the finished results and now that the space is much brighter and cleaner (highly reflective white vapor barrier) a number of developing problems were easily observed. Our house is roughly six years old so our crawlspace before was in pretty decent shape, yet those developing problems confirmed that for us this was the right decision and right contractor. A job well done. Thank you CrawlSpace Doctor!
Description of Work: Regraded crawlspace, installed perimeter drain and sump pump per homeowner request. Converted unconditioned crawlspace to a conditioned crawlspace: installed 20 mil vapor barrier, perimeter insulation, sealed vents and all perimeter penetrations, installed new insulated access door.
