Craftsmen Contractors

We signed a contract with Craftsmen to do a small siding job in September 2018 and were told work would begin in 3 weeks and would take 1 day to complete. We did not hear back from them again until I reached out in November, at which time they told us that they would begin work in three weeks time. However, work did not begin for another six weeks (end of December 2018) and was not completed until February 2019. The project took so long to complete part of the construction loan we took out to finance the project was cancelled by the bank. Do not use this company if you want a project completed quickly and not subbed out to another company. There was no project management on this job. They showed up late every time they scheduled to work, not starting work until noon and working until nightfall. We did have a change order on the project but never received an itemized invoice or details on the extra costs as we requested. If I could give zero stars as a review for a company, I would do this for Craftsman Contractors.

Roof and gutter replacement - May 2017 They sub-contract all their work out and provide no on-site supervision. The sub-contractors were drinking on the job site, using my backyard as restroom, and damaging property left and right without any notice. It was not until I brought this up to Craftsmen did they even care to address the damages. It took negotiation even for the company to want to repair the damages left. After the job and repairs were completed, the first rainstorm came through and the interior of my house looked like someone turned a garden hose on. The company via the sub-contractor claimed no fault. They made invest another $4k in repairs to my chimneys. Evidently, the chimneys were too bad to work around, but again NO ONE said anything prior to the start of the job. The company then sent their own employee over to inspect where he noticed a softball size hole next to the chimney from the install. They then just chalked the hole and did not address the damage caused by their sub-contractors. We are still dealing all the issues that this company caused to date. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE USE THIS COMPANY!

Very well. The installers were very quick & skilled, but also very considerate & communicated well how long it would take & what to expect. Outstanding service experience; would recommend to friends & will use again.

Fast and complete. Workers had old roof removed and new one installed in less than 1/2 day. Gutter crew was excellent. I called them back out with a problem in a torrential downpour, and they showed up to check it out. They explained that massive rain could cause some overflowing. There have been no issues in a normal rain.

Easy to work with. Began and finished work when they said they would. Answered questions promptly when needed to get in touch after the work was done. Professional, cleaned up all debris when finished. Pleased with our new roof.

After I put down the deposit, communication was not very good. The roof took longer to schedule and longer to replace than I was told and the quality was poor. While they have been communicating about resolving those problems, the issues have not been resolved even after I was told they were, including very specific problems that I asked to be fixed.

It went great. No issues besides finding a couple nails in yard days later but that is not that big of a deal.

After price was agreed on a contract was signed. The material was delivered and within a few days work began and was finished in a timely manner. Job site was cleaned up and left free of any debris.

The quality of work was top notch. People were friendly and personable. Thorough talk about what I wanted, so we were on the same page. Good effort to minimize disturbance inside the house, and removed debris. Final result a real show-stopper. The work took a bit longer than originally estimated, so I only gave a B for Punctuality. Otherwise it was all I could have hoped for.

My son and I hired Craftsman Contractors in Lexington KY to replace the roof on my home and my son's home. We have found their company to be friendly, helpful, efficient and provide quality workmanship. They use quality products, and their work is guaranteed. Their response to our concerns was immediate, and we am confident in their reputation. My son and I are both pleased with the end result, and yes, we would hire them again.

The salesman who quoted us was friendly and flexible and worked out all the details with insurance for us. While he made suggestions, he didn't try to pressure us into any 'upsells' and I felt he was honest with what was really important. It took a while to get the work scheduled (due to weather, waiting on parts, etc.) but once it was time, the crew worked fast and cleaned up after themselves.

Our experience with Craftsmen was excellent. There is a certain amount of apprehension when it comes to ripping out old windows in a one hundred year old home in a historic neighborhood. Add to that, I have two small children and we chose to update the windows during an unseasonably cold and snowy time. Regardless, the team at Craftsmen made everything so easy. They treated our home like a HOME and not a construction site. The replacement was quick and easy- the clean up was thorough. We noticed a difference in the Heat and AC flow right away. The windows that they helped us pick out look great and are easy to work. From the initial phone call to the customer service after the job, I am very pleased. So much so that I cannot wait to hire them to replace the siding on our home next spring. I will keep in touch and report on how that project goes as well!

Damage to house May 23, 2014. Bid accepted, contract signed. first part of insurance money paid June 2, 2014. Roofers came in late July, were very unprofessional, took two days to roof 1500 sq ft house(similar sized house took less the 1/2 day). Left nails in yard, debris on grass and offended the neighbors with their language, Guttering replaced no problem. Patched siding on August 26, was not acceptable, insurance agreed to replace the entire end of the house. Siding ordered. On October 22, siding and a dumpster were left on driveway and in yard. On the following Monday 10-27, dumpster was removed. After two weeks called asked when siding would be installed Given the run around no definite date. On Tuesday November 25, returned from work to find two men there who had been working on siding I presumed. Parked on street went into house, notice I had no electricity. Went back outside, the "contractors" were gone. Checked with neighbors, everyone else has power. Called Rural Electric, they came out and pulled meter so I could call electrician , as the problem was in my house. This is at 4:30 pm. It is cold. Electrician came, something has happened to breaker box. Realized that besides knocking boxes off walls in garage, that the siding folks had done something to my breaker box. Called Jason Adams (Craftsmen) told him what was going on, he told me I had done the right thing by calling electrician, let him know what I found out. What found out, the persons installing the siding has use 2 1/2" nails and nailed through my breaker box. My power was restored at around 11:30 that night after the REA came out and reinstalled meter and I paid the electrician for replacing my breaker box and rewiring the new one. My electric service was out more than 12 hours, it was cold. It was dark. Called Jason back, he said Craftsmen would pay for electrical repairs. I assured him they would. No further word Craftsmen. Finally emailed on December 2, told story and requested credit on bill. No response. Emailed Jacob Hardy on December 3. Responded platitudes intended to pacify. Assured me apply credit to remainder of bill, and let me know by the end of the day on December 10th, when he would have workmen out to repair drywall. Again the 10th, came and went no word. On December 15th emailed again to Mr Hardy, told him to forget the drywall repair as he had forgotten me and asked him to deduct the drywall repair from my bill. No response. Gave up for Christmas. On January 6 renewed quest, finally Mr Hardy called left word on my answering machine that he would credit the repair, send the bill, and that he was sorry I was so "frustrated". They emailed me a copy of the adjusted bill with the amounts mentioned credited, the date of the bill was 09-26-2014. Emailed back that I wanted a paper copy in the US Mail and requested a date change on invoice as the work was not completed until November. Received bill in mail Thursday 01/08/2015. Mailed payment 01/09/2015. I choose this company because of the BBB rating and Angies List. I would not recommend to anyone. . From June 2, 2014 to January 9,2015 is simply too long. I do not feel I was taken seriously as I am a woman, and I tried to be nice. Nice seems to equal stupid in the mind of Craftsmen Roofing and Restoration..

My experience with Craftsmen was fantastic! They did quality work and made me feel important even though I was only a small job. I have recommended them to all my family and friends. I will definitely use them again and have no doubts about their ability to accomplish any size task. They truly are CRAFTSMEN!

The sales representative, Jason Adams, was top notch. In fact, I've recommended him to two other families since I met him. His follow-up has been exemplary, and he did a great job of helping me to understand what to expect in advance, and following up to make sure his promises were honored. He is also excellent at communicating with the insurance company to make sure they follow the law and pay for wind and storm damage without trying to find an excuse to pay less than they owe.

Craftsmen replaced our roof with no trouble and problems. They came on time for the initial meeting and to do the work. We were very surprised at how quickly they were able to complete the work, and how well they cleaned up. Overall just excellent service!

Jacob was not only professional and prompt, the workmanship was perfect. I'd recommend this company to anyone needing a contractor. Contractors can be notorious for no showing up when they say or providing what they promise. Not Craftsmen. I'd use them again, and in fact have them scheduled for more work now.

Nice guy came out but they contract their work out and wanted their money up front

It went just as they said it would go, from the date of the first consult to day of the roof install was about 1 month. The old roof was taken off in a day and the new was put on the very same day!

They completed the worked in less than 1 1/2 days. Excellent job overall. Cleaned up after themselves including running magnets over the yard for any stray roofing nails etc.

Although they did not repair anything, I was still very impressed with them. They showed up very promptly, did a thorough inspection and determined that the damage was more structural than simply roofing. They provided us with pictures of the damage and discussed the situation with us to our satisfaction and did not even charge a service fee!

Highest quality workmanship. Roof looks great & clean up was wonderful. Very conscientious answered all of our questions & did a great job installing roof. Obvious they knew what they were doing. Customer Service was excellent from start to finish, follow up was prompt & professional. We also requested estimate on additional small jobs & received estimate promptly. I would highly recommend this company, you won't be sorry. Won't have to worry about roof for a very long time.

My contact was Matt Messer, having recently expanded into the Louisville area from Lexington. They specialize in getting the insurance company to replace/repair when you've already been told no. After the success I had with our roof, I referred him to a coworker who's claim was denied, having a roof that was in worse than mine. Matt was able to have the insurance pay for my coworker's roof as well. I highly recommended them (at least I do if Matt Messer is your representative).

They were very conscientious. Extremely easy to work with. They were very responsive to our questions and concerns. The foreman was on the job everyday making sure that things were getting done the way there were supposed to. We are extremely satisfied with the work they did. They cleaned up so well, you could not tell anyone had been there performing work.

It went really well and everything looked great! They were excellent to work with and were very knowledgeable on roofing. I'd highly recommend them to anyone seeking a new roof! My contact person was Matt Ladwig and he was excellent to work with.
