I received a quote for a new unit from Bernie Hartung. They initially had great customer service and were very timely. However, we had another company also giving us a quote for a new unit, as a diligent customer would. By mistake, the technicians overlapped in when they arrived at our house. Instead of being courteous to their customer, a mom of a newborn who is taking off work to get the issue fixed as quickly as possible, their associate, Mike, called and refused to help me any further even though there was no other technician in the house, they were simply finishing up out in their car on the street! After explaining this to Mike, he was still rude and completely wasted my time because of his own immaturity because, like I said, the other technician WAS NOT EVEN IN THE HOUSE. I understand that the situation was not ideal and I apologized for the mistake, but mistakes happen, especially with scheduling. As a service company, it’s their job to be accommodating in varying situations rather than behaving like a juvenile who cannot get along with other classmates. Unprofessional, rude, and a waste of time. Support literally any other small business other than this one. They don’t deserve it.

I’ve used them since my previous HVAC company installed new furnaces and central air unit then retired. They came highly recommended, seasonal maintain my units and also installed a whole house generator operated by natural gas two years ago. They are responsive, responsible, dependable and their staff’s congeniality is excellent. I have been pleased with their work. I will recommend and absolutely continue to use them.

Mike came out to give an estimate for a new HVAC unit. He gave us a couple of options to choose from by the next day and had set a time that would work for me for the install. The crews Mike had working for him did a get job with the installation and removal of the old unit. The crew was on time, did a great job and done in one day.

Arrived on (my) short notice, worked all day, and had a new furnace up and running in 24 hours! Truly amazing. Was counseled about everthing needed to be done, time necessary, and precise cost. They worked hard, answered every question, told me what they would not attempt (very cold day) regarding heat pump initiation, and could not have been more cordial. After they completed the work, I was apprised of what to to do until they returned to finalize everything. Spending this much money required earning supreme trust, and a bit of empathy. Hartsung @ Associates provided both. These people don’t advertise. Now I see why. They don’t have to. Service speaks louder than words. Very pleased with the work, speed of appointment and completion, professional routine which they established for themselves, and the ‘corners’ they refused to cut. Highly recommended.

We had Bernie Hartung technicians out twice to repair our downstairs A/C unit, which was not working. The technicians put in freon, charged us about $375, and then left, without ever attempting to locate the source of the leak (I did not find this out until later.) We called two other companies, who did the same thing, before finding Unique Indoor Comfort, who found the actual problem and repaired it. We had used Bernie Hartung before to service our furnace units. They were prompt in responding and usually worked us into their schedule within a day, especially during cold winter days when we had no heat. The servicemen showed up as scheduled and completed the repairs. The last guy that came for the furnace was not very experienced and he had to call for help several times before being able to fix the unit. They sent out different technicians on the jobs we hired them for and some were better than others. But they did not do a good job with the AC units.

From the woman who answers the phone at the company to the genius who worked on our unit, this company was top notch. We think our three units are running better than ever. We first had them out just more than a month ago to check our three units and change filters, etc. Two were lacking freon and those units were repaired. Then when the compressor went out, they came out as soon as possible (the next day) checked the unit and found the bad compressor. Part ordered, replaced, and all is good. We will use them again and again.

Bar nun, these guys are the absolute best HVAC company I have ever seen or can even imagine one that could be any better. No joke, these guys are phenomenal!!!! How have I come to this conclusion? Many reasons: First, for a long time before I became a customer of Bernie Hartung & Associates, I saw how professional and meticulous their work was compared to other HVAC companies in Central Kentucky. I worked for a company that cleaned air vents and saw that Bernie's HVAC work was at a higher caliber above the rest. To give you an understanding of how much a great business they are, it's like watching this year's 2014/2015 UK men's basketball team and how much of a joy it is to see the CATS win. Bernie Hartung and & Associates installed a 5" filter cabinet when they installed the new Goodman HVAC system in our home. This was included in the price as well, which was even lower than other HVAC companies in Lexington. I talked to one of the installers when they were installing our HVAC unit as I noticed that they were very concerned with doing it right the first time and going above and beyond to make a satisfied customer. I could easily tell that the Bernie and his son Mike (Owners of the company) expect high standards. Even more so, the high standards were accompanied by service that I have not seen anywhere else (and we have had a ton of work done on our home). Specifically, it was like they treated us like family. We were not another customer, but a real person, that they really cared about and I honestly cannot say enough good things about them. Our heat works great, our air is being purified by a Guardian Air purification system and the 5" filter and the air flow is amazing. If you want the best, I guarantee you that you cannot go wrong with these guys. To put it another way, if my MOM had an HVAC issue, I would tell her to use Bernie Hartung because they are the best and I would want the best for her!!!!! I have used Bernie Hartung twice in the last 2 years to service my furnace. I have found them to be very knowledgeable, punctual, and professional. I found them to be honest and their prices reasonable. I highly recommend them.

Very well. The technician suspected the batteries in the thermostat were the root cause of the issue and that appears to be the case. The batteries in the thermostat were low when tested by a battery tester (even though the thermostat's battery-low detection wasn't indicating as such), and there was some corrosion on the contacts in the battery compartment of the thermostat. Batteries were replaced and haven't noticed any other issues.

Twice checked an HVAC system that had been misrepresented by a home seller in a home purchase, and gave a very professional and detailed analysis regarding the HVAC unit that the home actually had installed in it-- and why it needed to be replaced. Offered additional phone consultation over a weekend (when the store was closed) that proved informative and helpful and resolved my questions. Dealing with Bernie was among the few bright spots in my home purchase experience.

Excellent. Outdoor Unit: Technician checked electrical connections for tightness. Checked voltage and Amperage of fan motor and compressor. Checked refrigerant connections and refrigerant level. Checked outside heat coils for dirt and debris. Checked the system for normal operation. Checked outside unit to make sure it was level. Furnace: Inspected furnace blower for amp draw. Checked coil to make sure it was clean. Checked drain to make sure it was clear. Checked duct work and replaced furnace filter. Checked electrical connections. Indoors: Inspected indoor thermostat connections. Ran furnace air conditioner and checked for cooling and thermostat operation.

Each time I've called Bernie Hartung & Associates they get my service call scheduled quickly. They educate me on the problem, if needed, and they've always done impeccably neat work. They show up when they say they're going to and they stand behind their work. If I have questions, they will take as much time as needed to be certain they're all answered. Every single experience I've had with them over the years has been extremely positive. This is truly an outstanding company.

Great experience. Bernie even notice a splash guard for a down spout needed to be moved an inch or so to be better aligned and he shared that with us too. He was very professional, answered all of our questions and I would definitely recommend him to friends and family.

He is honest and he is extremely thorough. He also does heating and cooling.
