He came over to the house, on November 25th, 2008 and supposedly worked on the furnace. He was supposed to come back to finish that job on November 27, 2008. As far as I know he never did. I called him to see if he'd finished the job and he never returned my call. In the meantime, I had another consultation from another company because I'm concerned about the noise. The second opinion is that the furnace is too big for the house. The heat exchange is not working properly and this will require approximately 6 hours worth of labor to correct the problem. In the meantime, I'm waiting for the other company to give me an estimate- finish the job, clean out the crawl space which contains the old furnace and unused insulation. This work is still pending as January 20th 2009.
Description of Work: A new furnace was installed in April 2008. I had requested that Mr. Grayson take out the old furnace and he said he would. It was never removed. In November 2008, the furnace started to make a funny noise. I called him back again, it took awhile for him to respond once again.

Never showed up to do the job.
Description of Work: I have used this company successfully for four years until recently. We had a vent problem and wanted to have our air conditioning units serviced. Ken came out to look at the vent, said he could fix it, would make the part and get in touch with us about installing it and the maintenance of our units. I've called three times over 2 1/2 months. I give up and will look for someone else. Now it's the furnaces I'm looking to service in addition to the vent!!

I called Arctic Air because of the two favorable reports on Angie's List. His mother answers the phone and said he'd return my call. He didn't, so I tried again. When he finally returned my call, we set an appointment 2 days away. The day before the appointment, he called to say he was too busy to come, so we agreed he'd come on a Monday morning - calling Sunday to reconfirm. No call came - despite the fact that I had my cell phone with me throughout the day. The work to be done was considerable - reinstalling some ductwork and checking my A/C system. At the moment, I have no A/C - and thanks to Mr. Grayson, have had none for nearly 2 weeks. On both occasions, I rescheduled my own work commitments to be home at Mr. Grayson's convenience. I would suggest that other potential customers look elsewhere if reliability is important.
Description of Work: No work was performed because Mr. Grayson made one appointment, canceled it, then promised to call the evening before coming on a 2nd appointment. No call.

Excellent. I was referred to Arctic by a friend who described them as high quality and honest. I called on the weekend and got to speak with a real person! She said I would get a call back and I did, within about 10 minutes! We scheduled his on-site visit for the next morning. He called again in the morning to confirm and to see if I had the model number of the unit so that he could pick up parts on the way to my house in the suburbs and save a trip back into the city. He arrived exactly on time, was quick, calm, and friendly. It ended up I only needed a relatively inexpensive part replaced rather than the fan (which would have cost over $500). Upon leaving, he reminded me to call next month to schedule a routine maintenance visit for my AC. I was so very pleased!
Description of Work: Replaced igniter in heat pump.
