Scott and his crew were very responsive to my schedule and were prompt both days of work. Scott was always available to answer questions. Work took two days and no mess was left behind. I felt the price was more than fair given the difficulty of putting an exhaust fan where none existed before.
Description of Work: Painting, repair drywall, install bathroom exhaust fan (no previous fan or duct work was present), cleaned damage to grout around tub and recaulk, installed blinds and shower rod.

We got estimates from several contractors and remodelers so as to compare prices and methods of doing the job. None of these people were willing to remove the old linolium, and wanted to install the tile over the old linolium in one fasion or another. We were discouraged, but decided to give Angies List a try. There we read a report on Nelson Remodeling, who had recently remodeled and tiled a bath in our neighborhood. They were well pleased with Scott's work and most of all his addititude toward getting the job done correctly. When Scott came to give us his estimate he said the first thing he would do is take up all the old linolium. He would also screw down the subfloor to the floor joists removing any squeeks and providing a solid serface to lay the tile. That was music to our ears. We knew at that instant Scott was the right guy for the job. His price was higher than any of the others, but it was well worth it because he was willing to do the extra work to get the job done right, Other issues came along as the job progressed. One was that, when finished, the floor may be to thick if the underlayment were of the conventional type. This would nessitate having to move all the baseboards up in order for them to appear normal heightl. Also there would be a noticable difference in the height of the tiled floor as compaired to the floor in ajoining rooms. Scott listened to our concerns and suggested instead of the underlayment he could pour a floor leveling compound over the subfloor and lay the tile over the leveler. Doing this reduced the overall thickness of the floor by 50%, and it is strong a durable. Scott and his crew always came when the said they would and completed the work in about 3 weeks. We are well pleased with the job they did.
Description of Work: Scott Nelson Remodeling removed the old linolium in five rooms in our house and replaced it with porcelian tile. The rooms they re-flored were the kitchen, utility room, half-bath, and two full baths. A total of 450 sq. ft.

The estimate was for $2400, but it is only towards their work. I decided to use them because they turned out to be competent and delightful people. They are very responsive. I have no complaints with them. I thought the pricing was favorable and reasonable. They are very young.

I was pleased with their price. It was the best as they added some stuff for the kitchen remodelling. They were good and my interaction with them was great. They were professional, personable and easy to get along with. They did exactly what they said they would do. They used quality materials and the people that worked for them were very professional.
Description of Work: I have used the services of Nelson Remodeling three weeks ago for remodelling of my kitchen and some painting work for my house.
They were here all summer doing the repairs. Their prices were reasonable. They were reliable and professional. They originally came in to do painting and I had them continue to do services for me since I needed several things done. The whole crew was professional. I would use them again and I would refer them to others.
Description of Work: They did some inside repairs and painted the entire inside of my house. They did a lot of drywall repairs. They built a deck and converted a screened in porch into a room. They installed ceiling fans, installed new toilets and all new electrical outlets for me. They did some outside repairs around the garage door where there was water damage. They also repaired the under flooring for me under some carpeting where there was some damage. They also fixed a leaking shower.

This young man is a perfectionist and a professional. After taking out a tub enclosure, he encountered a plumbing problem that threatened the entire job. He figured out how to fix the issue and continued on to produce a stunning walk-in shower. He is very skilled at taking your vision and making it a reality.I would feel confident to have him tackle any remodel in my house. He finished the job on time and within budget.

Scott's deck design addressed our requirement for safety and enjoyment. The new deck is over-built in terms of construction - as requested. In spite of hit or miss weather, the work was done on schedule and on budget. Scott was always available for questions and concerns.
Description of Work: Demolished the existing deck and surrounding pool fence and replaced. Work involved new design for function and appeal. Chris and Pedro did most of the work and they were both great to work with. Scott Nelson also helped us design and install support system for 3-point fabric sail to cover most of 20' x 14' deck.

I had lived in Lexington for about two years and was interested in finding a rental property but nothing ever seemed like the right opportunity. When I found out that I was going to move for work in a couple of months buying a "fixer upper" was the last thing on my priority list. However, the real estate agent that I bought the houseI was living in called me and said that there was a property down the street that may be a good investment. I took my girlfriend and checked it out just to occupy some time on a Saturday afternoon. After looking at the place, it definitley needed a lot of work. The family that lived in the home had built it in the 40's and I could tell they took great pride in the home but were unable to update it as they grew older. I decided to put a bid in on the place which I never though would be accepted but amazingly enough it was. Now I needed to figure out how to fix the place up and move at the same time. Scott was going to do some work on the bathroom at my house and I had him take a look at everything that needed to get fixed at the new property. I knew I really needed someone that I could trust because I needed to do a lot of traveling before I officially relocated and I also knew that there may be some loose ends that would need finished up once I did move. I felt that Scott was someone that I could trust and would also give sound advice on what I should and shouldn't do. As I did with the bathroom at my other house, I gave Scott a lot of freedom to decide on the final design of the work and his tastes proved accurate again. There were certain things that were sub-contracted out and when things were not done to his standards he made sure they were fixed. I also did what I could on the house such as removing wall paper/painting which he was always willing to give me a few pointers. I had my father down from Pittsburgh to put drywall in the garage and Scott gave my father quick tutorial that I know my father greatly appreciated(and I believe made the job go a little faster but I wouldn't tell my father that). The neighbors loved him and he got a few more jobs based on them seeing the work he was doing on my place. I have since moved away and have one of my friends renting the house. Scott continues to be there to take on additional projects(such as a fence since my friend has a dog) and he makes sure he sends me pictures to that I can inspect the finished product from afar.

I had some tiles that were coming loose in my shower so I went to the local Home Depot to buy some caulk believing that it was a minor issue that I could fix. Before putting on the caulk, I wiggled the soap holder to see how loose it was and ended up pulling the whole holder off the wall leaving a large hole in my shower. Apparently water was going behind the tiles for some time and the wall behind the tiles was basically falling apart. I needed to get this fixed quickly since the garbage bag with tap on it wasn't going to provide a fix for very long. I found Scott on Angie's list and he was very professional and timely in coming for an appointment. I didn't know how much it would cost so I dealt with several contractors. While Scott was not the cheapest, I could tell that he was someone that I could trust and took a great amount of pride in his work. He also gave me a quote and responded to my calls when he said he would which was not the case with many of the other contractors I dealt with. I will admit that I am not the best designer and didn't really know what I wanted the bathroom to look like so I gave Scott a lot of freedom to figure out what would look best. Scott always asked my opinion before moving forward with his ideas and the bathroom turned out great. Scott did such a good job on this project that I used him for a complete home renovation for another property I had recently purchased and that job went just as well. I have recommended Scott to all my friends and would definitely recommend him to anyone reading this.

We live out of town and have a rental in Lexington Kentucky. The house in over 100 years old and the windows needed repair, and the front porch needed to be redecked. On Angie's List , Nelson Remodeling had many good reviews. I contacted the owner, he gave me an estimate and approximate time that the job would be finished. He kept me informed on start and finish dates, and even sent me pictures of the final product. It was very refreshing to have a company do and do correctly what they said, get the job done on time, and keep to the estimate. We will definitely call them first for any subsequent work.

I accidentally pulled some tile from the shower wall when I slipped, and grabbed a safety handle. I searched Angie's List to find a recommended tile specialist, and found Nelson Remodeling to have the best feedback. I called and got estimates on the different options to make a repair. Scott Nelson was very helpful in explaining these options, and patient with me deciding what to do. After removing some of the old tile, they discovered mold. Scott and Drew worked extra long hours to remove the mold, and finish the job in a timely manner. The work was impeccable, and Scott was very accommodating in working with my schedule. The price was more than fair, considering all the extra work involved.

Scott was professional and a joy to work with. He was punctual, deliberate and precise in his work. The tile floor required a "random" placement of small glass tile inserts which required many precise cuts. He planned out the pattern beautifully and the finished floor is perfect. Since this is a small bathroom, the beadboard and rail necessitated some tiny detailed corner pieces which I suspect some contractors might have skipped or tried to fill with caulk. Like the floor, the carpentry work is impressive. This company is not afraid of hard work, long hours or a challenge. I have hired contractors for all types of work before, and I have never been as pleased as I was with the precision and attention to detail Nelson Remodeling provided. I will definitely call them again and recommend them to others.

They responded in a timely manner. They were all qualified crews that came out for estimates and I didn?t pick the lowest bid, I picked the crew that I liked the best. They were professional and did what they said they would do.
Description of Work: Nelson Remodeling did a bid for me.
Scott Nelson was very professional. He responded promptly to an estimate request. His estimate came in as the lowest and he was able to start the job right away. He and his partner were hard workers, often working into the evening to finish the project. They allowed us to add extra tasks to the original estimate at a fair price. When something extra came up (like needing a new pipe fitting), we were only charged for the parts and not the labor. We highly recommend Nelson Remodeling.
