I honestly can't say how pleased we were with Nelson Remodeling. We received 4 estimates and Nelson Remodeling were far and away the most fair price. Scott was very responsive to emails and phone calls. The project started on exact date stated. They were very professional and even did more than expected without jacking up the price. We have received several compliments on the porch. I could go on but I will leave it with a high recommendation for Nelson Remodeling. And I wouldn't have even called them had I not seen the glowing reviews on Angie's List.

I felt very comfortable with the gentleman who came out to do the estimate. The room addition work that I wanted estimated was more outside of their scope and it was more than what they do so I did not utilize their service but it was a very good dialogue. He was very professional, I felt very comfortable, and I would use their services in future. He spent a lot of time out here looking at it and it looked more of a project than they were used to doing. So he did not give me a quote but my experience was good. He was courteous and got back to me, he was honest about not being able to do the work unlike other contractors that I know, that talk big, take up the work, and then don’t end up executing it a lot of times. However, he was honest and was able to say it upfront that somebody else would be able to offer me a better service.
Description of Work: I got an estimate from Nelson Remodeling for redoing some of the siding, redoing the basement and a bathroom in the basement. I had requested that they look at doing a room addition to the house.

I liked everything. They were wonderful. They had an attention to detail, and very neat with what they did. Honestly the only thing I would say I didn't like, and that's too strong of word, he was just getting started and was just very slow. I think it was because he was wanting to do a really good job and be really meticulous. I would definitely use them again, and they were very professional.

Excellent job. Met Mr. Nelson in evening for estimate and he was very responsive to our questions about the job and several issues that made it a less straightforward task. Workers arrived as scheduled, were also responsive to questions, cleaned up nicely, and did a good job. There were a few issues to repair after an initial paint was put on, and the wok was done promptly and efficiently. The ceiling now looks great!

The gentleman that came to my house for the estimate was very professional and I liked his plan. He said he could not start for several months but would email me the estimate in a few days. It was several weeks later when I finally received the emailed estimate. I decided not to remodel my kitchen at this time.

Nelson's team stayed at it until they found the problem. Beleive me, it was not easy and nearly anyone else would have given up and missed it. They did excellent quality work, showed up exactly when they promised and came back as needed. The only problem is that they are so busy. I have additional projects I would love to have them handle but they can't help me until next spring.
Description of Work: This was a small job, we thought, to repair a damged ceiling caused by a water leak. The job got more complicated and required intensive investigative work to determine the source of the damaging water.

They started on time and finished on time. The repair work and painting was exceptionally well done. I have used Nelson Remodeling for several jobs and they are the best. They not only fix the problems you see but they do it in a way that insures it should not happen again. My walls and woodwork are now smooth and beautifully painted. As a bonus, they did their work while avoiding and sometimes entertaining 2 yr. old twins who were always underfoot. They stay within budget, they are accommodating when you throw extra little jobs at them and they clean up when they leave.

I've never undergone a major home repair before. This being my first experience, I learned a lot. I selected the contractor based on positive reviews from Angie's List. They were punctual for the initial meeting for the estimate. The meeting was brief. He explained which areas of the house would be replaced, other sections of the house would be closed off to keep them clean, any attic insulation would be replaced, and all furniture should be removed from the work area. The entire project would take four days. I was informed the walls would end up having ceiling mud on them and would need to be repainted. They could do this for an additional fee. I informed them I was about to repaint the walls anyway, and would handle this. Looking back I should have asked more questions. The crew arrived at 8am on the scheduled work day. Placed wood down on all the floors, and proceeded to rip down the ceiling. They left promptly at 4pm. The crew left the front door open the entire day, as well as leaving the A/C running. Given it was only 64 degrees that day, it seems they could have turned off the A/C. They could have also inquired if there were any pets in the house they should have been concerned about before leaving the door wide open. Fortunately, I kenneled the pets. Good thing too, as over the next two days, the house became unlivable. Day two and three was mudding and sanding. Every room in the house ended up covered in a fine layer of white dust, mixed with pieces of attic insulation. Also, I had turned off the A/C on day two since they were still leaving the front door open and it was still in the low to mid-sixties, yet one of the workers turned it back on. The crew this day also kept tripping the circuit breaker. Considering there was no furniture or lights in the room they were working, I couldn't figure out what all they were plugging in that kept overloading the breaker box. A minor inconvenience, yes, but still an annoying one. This They also helped themselves to the kitchen without asking during their lunch break. On day three, the workers left at 11:30am and didn't return until 3pm, then left at 4pm, saying they were done. Considering I was holed up in one room of the house with all my furniture, I would have appreciated knowing they were going to be gone for most of that day. All in all, lack of communication is the biggest complaint I had with this work crew. Day four I thought they would clean and paint. I was informed this was not the case. They were done with the job. Leaving me with a half inch of dry wall dust on the floors, doors, ceiling and walls, and an unpainted ceiling. When I asked about the ceiling, I was informed it was not part of the contract. As for the dust, they said they vacuumed. The state of my house says differently. It was left unlivable. Several attempts to clean up the dry wall dust myself resulted in nothing more than creating a whitewash on the floors, walls and doors. I'm now trying to find professional cleaners to handle the mess the crew left behind. Then there was the additional expense I undertook to paint the ceiling myself. I also had to leave the dogs kenneled longer than anticipated. All in all, my first venture into major home repairs left a bad, dusty taste in my mouth. I'm willing to take partial blame, as I should have asked more questions about what all was entailed, and should not have assumed that painting and clean-up was just part of the process. I'm willing to give the company another chance should I ever need something else done, but next time, I'm making sure to get EVERY detail in writing.

I couldn’t be happier with my new kitchen. Scott was fantastic – I would recommend him without reservation for anything. When he said he was coming at 9 am, he did. When he gave me an estimate for the new floors, he was right on target. He responded to e-mails within 24 hours if not more quickly. He was very knowledgeable, has good connections with other local businesses, and easily solved any problems that arose. He was very responsive to my questions & suggestions (including a request that he repaint a wall in a different color, which he did immediately). He is a really nice, smart, articulate guy with a personable crew. The fact that it was a pleasure to have them around was a nice plus. They were meticulous, making sure every detail was right. And Scott was really into the design aspect, giving me great advice about paint color and backsplash. He was available to put on the finishing touches, which stretched out for a couple of weeks through no fault of his. The overall price was what I expected, and the kitchen looks great. Here’s a story: Scott and I had come to an agreement but were still in the early planning, moving slowly. I’d mentioned cabinets I was interested in but hadn’t decided on. One morning he sent me an e-mail telling me Lowe’s was having a major sale on the cabinet brand, but it was only on for the next two days. He came over first thing in the morning, sketched out a plan, estimated the price for me based on some information from Lowe’s, then took out some cabinets when I decided the price was too high. Then he went right over to Lowe’s and ordered them. He found out that the style I wanted was cheaper, and I actually needed the extra cabinets to make the threshold for the discount. He ordered all the cabinets and saved me thousands of dollars by moving fast. Throughout it felt like a collaboration. There were no conflicts – it couldn’t have gone more smoothly.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel: new floors, cabinets, countertops, appliances, backsplash, sliding glass door to deck, lighting, repaint room and hallway. We didn't need to rearrange anything, but Scott ripped out old the old stuff and replaced everything.

I had contacted Scott Nelson in May about a tile installation job for a kitchen back splash. He arranged a meeting time one evening and he arrived on time. Both my wife and I were impressed with Scott's knowedge and apparent professionalism. His quote for the job was reasonable and he was helpful with design options. Once we had purchase the tile needed to complete the job, I contacted Scott to schedule a time for the installation. We had set up a time in July for him to complete the installation. My wife had changed her work schedule to meet him at our home on the day he was scheduled to be there but Scott did not show up or call to cancel the appointment. I followed up later that day with a call and Scott appoligized and explained that he had been sick and had gotten behind on his schedule. Because we felt Scott would do a good quality job and due to the number of positive ratings in Angie's list, we decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. We rescheduled for For August 8th. During that conversation I made a point to tell him that he needed to call the week before the appointment if he could not make it. Aug 8th came and again Scott did not show up or call to change the apppoinment. It has been 2 weeks since the last missed appointment and I have not heard from Scott. My assessment of Scott is that he is a very capable person and I am confident he would do a good job however, knowledge, and capability are only valuable if he is there to apply them. Based on Scott's rocord not meeting his commitments, his lack of follow up and his disregard for the value of my familiy's time, he has proven to be unprofessional and I would not recommend him.

Scott was the chosen sub contractor (my choice) for this job. The patio cover was attached to the house and a continuation of the roof. Through-out this project I was amazed at the materials used... a higher quality and strength that would normally be used. The professionalism from beginning to end was exceptional. Even though Scott was working on jobs, he was by daily to inspect the quialit of the work being done. His foreman Chris made sure there were no short cuts and the quality was there from step one.

Scott bid a flat rate for the job, expecting to be done in less than two full days. Our design resulted in him having to cut nearly all tiles, so the job was much more complex than he expected and took four days overall. He never complained, never rushed, and did a superb job. The finished project is a work of art; just beautiful.

They were very respectful of my time, my belonging, and my pets. They were professional and confident; price included everything including good paint. I was so impressed I had them go ahead and paint my master bedroom, which they did within one day. It too looks fabulous. Next on the to-do list is a new back deck, and Nelson Remodeling is who I'm going to call!
Description of Work: They repaired and painted my living/dining/kitchen area (about half of my interior space), including the cathedral ceiling, repairing cracked dry wall, replaced molding around patio doors, added molding to corners of doors so I won't keep chipping at the drywall, as well as repairing a huge patch in the kitchen ceiling.

Scott Nelson ought to have a halo floating above his head. Folks, he is responsible, thoughtful, clean, helpful, careful, ensures quality work is done by his associates, he is dependable AND not outrageously expensive but not cheap either. Scott Nelson is a fine example of what all home remodelers OUGHT to be. He kept me posted every step of the way, gave great suggestions, saved me money, and I actually PRAY he never changes! I've used lots of contractors in my 30 years, he is the crown jewel and he will be my go-to choice in the future.
